About the Owner

My husband (Dan) and I (Cyndi) both grew up in the country, north of Pittsburgh, PA, where we still reside. We've been married now for 7 years. Our 'slogan' is Dancyn through life (using both of our names), thus the reason for the name Dancyn' By the Sea. Together, we have 8 children. And no, that is not a typo. Our family is expanding, bringing us great joy. Dan has been a bricklayer now for nearly 20 years, while I am currently a home-maker and home-schooling mom. We love what we do. We love to travel.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The house was absolutely gorgeous! It was the nicest home we have ever stayed in at the Outer Banks. The rooms were decorated and put together with very warm and inviting colors.

We loved that you had the grocery store, gas station, fresh seafood market, and a Wings beach store (where you get your souvenirs) all within 2 minutes of the house. VERY EXCITING! My family travels 10 hours to get to the Outer Banks, so when we get there we want to be BEACH BUMS. So it was very convenient that all these places were very close.

Can't wait to go back!!!

Amazing Home = Amazing Family Vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful stay at Dancyn' By the Sea. From first contact even before booking, Cyndi was so extremely helpful for planning our family vacation. We received great recommendations, and it is obvious that they are truly committed and personally dedicated to making your stay enjoyable. The pool and hot tub were perfect places to relax. The pool gets great sun in the morning and the right amount of shade in the afternoon for you to hide out from the sun, which I definitely appreciated after neglecting the sun block.

I highly recommend choosing this home for your stay at the Outer Banks. You won't be disappointed! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us and making our family vacation so great!

Beautiful and Spacious!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time renting the lovely Dancyn' by the Sea. We returned to it because of how wonderful it is. There are new floors on the top floor which makes it look even more beautiful! The wood throughout looks spectacular.

The fully stocked kitchen made packing for vacation a breeze! The place was very clean upon our arrival and even the pool sparkled! There is so much to do nearby. The Hatteras Lighthouse - a must see - is a mere ten minutes away! There is beach access to the Pamlico Sound about five minutes away. The Food Lion is one mile away, so we walked to it! There are many good restaurants so close.

As usual, the owners were highly attentive to our needs. Their response time getting back to us was just a few hours. We highly recommend this place for your next vacation!

Owner's Response: The new flooring on the top level has been very well received, with our repeat guests, who got to see the before and after, sending us their compliments. Whether a first time guest or repeat, we believe that communication is vital in order for guests to have the best experience at Dancyn' By the Sea.

The house was beautiful the rooms were great

  • 4 of 5

We loved the house and had a great time all week. The only issue we had was that we had small children with us and there were so many cigarette butts around the deck of the pool that we had to clean them up prior to letting the kids run around because they wanted to pick them up and eat them. We also had to pick up many beer cans scattered around the house, otherwise everything inside the house was clean and we would definitely rent the house again.

Cyndi, Thank you for letting us rent your house, it is beautiful and I appreciate all the assistance with the registering process.

Owner's Response: Thank you for bringing this to our attention: the mess around the pool deck. Our home is a non-smoking home, so it is disappointing to hear that guests arrive to find an issue like this. Other than removing garbage, food, and anything else guests bring into the house, there is no cleaning expected. We will definitely emphasize this for all future guests so that this will not be an issue. Again - thank you for bringing this to our attention. We take all suggestions and concerns very seriously, always looking for ways to make Dancyn' better.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

As a family with very small babies and a handicapped son, the option to drive directly onto the beach was wonderful. Don't forget to get your Off Road Vehicle permit. Pricey ($50) but worth it for us.

Owner's Response: Several of our guests have found the use of the 4WD beach access to be quite a plus, both for being a perfect drop-off location for the physically challenged and younger ones, as well as for being able to drive right onto the beach (after obtaining the beach permit). With this access being less than a mile away, it's very convenient! It's also a popular fishing spot. Sometimes we like just watching the fisherman, and occasionally join them.. Another great thing about this access is that once you enter, there is a barrier just to the north to prevent these vehicles from entering the beaches where guests swim and play, keeping them safe. One can easily walk (1 - 2 minutes) from where the boardwalk/path leads out to the beach to the 4WD beach access and vice-versa; just another plus to this wonderful drop-off area.

Loved It!!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful week! The house was incredible and everyone had a fantastic time! Not one of us wanted to leave! Our first time to the Outer Banks did not disappoint!!

The kitchen was well stocked and we did not miss having anything that we needed when preparing for our huge family dinners! We had the best fresh fish fry in town one night and could have fed the neighborhood! Having 2 coffee pots in the morning was a hit as well, no waiting!

All the kids loved, loved, loved the pool and the guys loved the pool table and fridge for beer on the lower level. Movie nights in the theater room were also a big hit! The beach nearby was incredible and the convenience to the stores, etc could not have been better. The elevator was a big help for luggage and for the "older folks" not having to climb all those flights of stairs (me, lol).

Just riding up and down the coastal highway was great, stopping at little stores, bakeries, etc... We took the ferry to Ocracoke and spent the day there as well. The house is midway down the highway so rides either way are easy.

Last but not least a shout out to Cyndi who was absolutely fantastic to work with! She is very quick to respond to any questions you may have prior to leaving and we did reach out to her once while we were there and she responded back immediately. You cannot go wrong booking with this owner.

Till next time :-)

awesome! 5 stars!

  • 5 of 5

Dancyn By the Sea was the best house we've ever stayed in! The layout was perfect and comfortable for our family of 8 adults and 4 kids, ages 3-9. Everyone had their own space and bathroom, which is a big plus. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean The elevator was a real plus!! The house was clean and well equipped. It was so nice to have the beds made and towels supplied . The location is great for several reasons. We never heard any traffic, which was nice in the early AM or late PM while we were asleep . We used the drive on beach access daily , which was only a mile away. Grocery stores were close by.

The owners contacted us several times to assure we had all we needed and things were going smoothly. We ate at the restaurant on Avon Pier one night and were very pleasantly surprised at the service and the food. We definitely recommend this house and hope to return next year! Thanks to the Sagath Family!

Owner's Response: One of the main reasons we selected this specific home was so that extended families could come together. Plenty of space and activities for everyone, nestled in a quiet and more private location, as well as being only steps away from the beach.

From the Owner

One of the most unique benefits of this area is the fact that you can literally walk from the sound to the ocean in less than 10 minutes, giving anyone the ability to see the sunrise ON WATER in the morning, then catch the sunset ON WATER that same evening, giving the opportunity to see the uniqueness and beauty of the Outer Banks. Having shopping (especially a major grocery store) within a two minute drive means less time driving and more time for vacationing. Bike and kayak rentals are in the same plaza, adding amenities to the experience. Avon, having its own fishing pier is perfect for those who love to fish, and is less than 5 minutes up the road. Those who have 4WD will love being able to enter the beach within a 1 minute drive from the property. So many conveniences, AND offers serene nothingness! Who could ask for more?

Activity and Interests

Nearest Ferry : at 16.09 Miles Nearest Restaurant : at 0.5 Miles Car: necessary

We've been coming to the Outer Banks for at least 35 years now. I cannot imagine ever getting tired of it. Even just being here and only enjoying the beaches, taking in the sun, listening to the ocean waves is enough, in and of itself. And to think that it's free entertainment.

The Outer Banks has so much to offer. Avon, North Carolina is a very popular Outer Banks vacation destination. All of the neighboring villages on Hatteras Island are relatively close to each other which means that the island can offer many different businesses centered around tourism like restaurants, markets, tackle shops, hardware stores, beach supply stores, and much more.

Eat to your hearts content at any of the many, many restaurants all along the Outer Banks. There are at least 3 SEAFOOD BUFFETS for those wanting a great variety.

For the CRAB LOVER, catch your own, purchase them from any of the local vendors where you can even get them steamed and ready to eat, or check out the local restaurants.

For history buffs, and others, be sure to head up to Kitty Hawk to catch THE FIRST WRIGHT BROTHER'S MEMORIAL and the KITTY HAWK DUNES where you can even take hang-gliding lessons. As much as I disliked history, seeing this, in person, really brought it to life, and made it interesting.

For those looking for more ADVENTURE, try kite boarding, para sailing, kayaking, biking, hiking, and more. Very reasonably priced plane rides offer an opportunity to see the whole Outer Banks from the bird's eye view. This is one you don't want to miss.

Be sure to check out the outdoor live production of THE LOST COLONY. It's just one of those things you have to do at least once while visiting the Outer Banks.

The ELIZABETHAN GARDENS is another destination you won't want to miss.

Another neat shop to visit is THE CHRISTMAS SHOP in Manteo. It's become one of our annual visits.

For a unique experience, head to the quaint village of OKRACOKE (island) by FREE FERRY RIDE. Enjoy the scenery and wildlife, sometimes even dolphins as they follow along the ferry.

Although there are always plenty of things to see and do in Avon, the traditional main attraction remains the surf fishing on our local beaches. Avon even has its own FISHING PIER, less than a 5 minute drive from Dancyn' By the Sea! Anglers can try for many different species throughout the year including red drum, striped bass (that's rockfish to the locals), bluefish, speckled trout, flounder, spanish mackerel, whiting (sea mullet), spot, croaker, black drum, various sharks and pompano just to name a few. It's hard to beat a relaxing day in the sun waiting for your rod to bend and then having the pleasure of eating fresh fish for dinner that you just caught earlier that day. Nearby Hatteras Inlet also offers a 'world class' destination for offshore trolling to catch tuna, marlin, wahoo and mahi (dolphin/dorado).

All throughout the Outer Banks, you'll find MINIATURE GOLF. A top vacation destination for beach goers, the Outer Banks also features some of the best year-round golfing in the eastern United States. Experienced and novice players will find these NINE CHAMPIANSHIP COURSES challenging and aesthically stunning. If you're planning a trip to the Outer Banks in the near future bring your clubs for a day of golfing you won't soon forget.

From the Owner

We chose this particular home because this was the one that WOW(ed) us with its unique benefits. We love the angles throughout along with the beautiful woodwork. It has an incredibly open and airy feel, providing such a relaxing atmosphere. Being able to see miles of both the ocean and sound from the same deck is a huge a bonus. We can easily hear the ocean waves, a feature that you don't get everywhere on the Outer Banks. We are less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. That was a priority to us, since that's the number one reason we come here. We also knew this place was plenty big enough for all of us, our siblings and their families, easily able to house our 4 families in one location. We feel confident that you, as our guests, will feel the same way. Our hope is that you will create special memories here during your stay, while you find rest and relaxation.
