About Kenneth E. Solis
I grew up in Dade County and Biscayne Bay where my family always enjoyed boating, diving, and general water activities. I became a firefighter and retired from Dade County Fire Department after 31.5 years of service.

Why Kenneth E. Solis chose Conch Key
I always enjoyed spending time in the Florida Keys with great friends, & grew a fond attachment to this particular island for its old style Fla. Keys ambiance. This island fishing village is unique to the Fla. Keys experience and it is easy to visualize why its residents chose to call it home. Because friends & family enjoyed my cottage so much also, they suggested & encouraged me to start the rental on a lark. Not intending more than an occasional rental I was quickly rewarded with a sense of pride from guests that raved about the cottage which fueled my interest on continuing.
What makes this Cottage unique
Centraly & practically located, it is exactly the hafway mark from the mainland to famous Key West, approximately 1.5 hour drive to either, from the property. Located adjacent to the Long Key bridge it provides immediate bay and ocean access to the best diving, fishing, kayaking, beaches, and boating activities in the Keys without having to travel time consuming miles to reach a location to cross over from the bay to the ocean or vise versa for water activities. Far enough to feel disconnected from mainland society and relax on the hammocks under the Tiki hut in a very romantic setting.

Conch Key is perfect, and Ken's Cottage being right on the water with hammocks under a tiki hut, bikes, and kayaks made it a great stay! Thanks, Ken!
I loved being in the middle of the Keys, an easy drive to anywhere. The cottage was clean and just what we needed. The beds were firm and there was plenty of seating. The area felt safe and we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. Although we didn't use them, the kayaks and bicycles are an added bonus. We did enjoy the tiki hut and the back patio. I would stay there again.
The cottage was very cute and well maintained. The tiki hut and hammocks were a perfect and relaxing ending to a long day. The 2nd bedroom was a nice separation for my college aged son and me. He could go relax and do his own thing after spending all day with his mom! Ken was very prompt on all emails, calls and texts. And to top it all off, the weather was perfect the entire week!
Great location, great outdoor space, great indoor space!
We are fortunate to be located right smack dab in the middle of the Keys! Great launching point for day trips to any destination in the Keys. Many of our guests have commented that they are perfectly content to enjoy the cottage, Tiki and hammocks without the need to entertain themselves elsewhere!
We had a great time! The Cottage was clean and ready for us. Ken was attentive to all our needs and very responsive. We had a very relaxing and great time at Ken's Cottage.
I loved it.
The cottage was very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the outdoors, being near the water and star gazing in the evening. There was a large tortoise (I think a Loggerhead) in the channel. We visited a few state parks and the Crane Nature Center along with Key West. Thank you Ken for such great accommodations and a wonderful stay.
We offer small motor boat (option) rental for island hopping, boat only accessible beaches, & scenic exploration on the water close to land. Traditional beaches and state parks are close by also. Larger power boat rental, fishing charters, and fresh seafood are available literally feet away from the property. Also Hawks Cay resort, just around the corner offers a wide variety of water activities such as jet ski rental, para-sailing, powerboat rentals, and fish or dive charters. Lobstermen and local fishing guides with private charter boats are your neighbors and are happy to book a days activities. Fishing and diving are excellent and we are well situated with immediate bay and ocean access by boat. We have on many occasions caught our lobster dinners by snorkeling immediately around the island. Watching the neighbors bring in their daily fresh catch of fish, lobster, stone crabs, and tropical fish for aquariums is very interesting, and purchasing fresh caught from the neighbors for your meal, if you don't catch your own.
