Why Eric and Dee Hinshaw chose Winter Haven
This property is our dream home, in our dream location, a quiet neighborhood located close to all the things that are important to US and our family. We invite you to enjoy it as we have for so many years! When we were designing our home, Dee wanted something that we could 'see through', so large windows that offer a great view of the lake, even from the front yard, were the result. The Great Room is truly great and the sound of the grand piano fills the entire property with elegant notes, even when the discs are being played. With an active young family we really needed a large game room and that has been one of the most popular places to hang out, with an open pass through to the kitchen that doubles as a Breakfast Bar. From the Game Room there is access to the large pool through a bathroom that is designed for both handicapped and kids, with a wheelchair accessible shower and open vanity. We love the weather in Florida and the incredible amount of stars that can be seen at night so we decided to not screen the pool area. The full intensity of the sun is enjoyed on the pool deck and is only broken by frequent dips in the cool water! The upstairs guests have direct access to the pool as well. Just walk out to the lanai and down the spiral staircase and into the pool area. Let’s not forget the Master Suite access through the Master Bathroom. Yes, I guess you can say that life around the pool was a central part of our design! We love sitting atop the boat house and watching life on the lake. Water-skiers, fishermen, swimmers, and the flora and fauna that can only be enjoyed by the lake. It's also a favorite place to sit and dream while watching a dark starry sky.
What makes this House unique
The upstairs Double-Loft serves as a video game area, a card playing area, exercise and dance area, the best place to watch the party below and, across the bridge, a secluded office and library with an impressive collection of literature. Both lofts have a great view of the pool and lake activities as well as the front drive. Dee and I weren’t really crazy about jet tubs but we did enjoy relaxing in steam rooms, so we added that feature to our bathtub, a large custom tiled area that features a handmade stained glass window designed by Dee and a glass enclosure, two rain-showerheads and two spigots for filling the large tub. Just touch the button on the control, walk away for about 10 minutes and come back for a luxurious steam room experience! Our lakefront has been kept more natural than most. Our family has enjoyed the presence of otters, ducks, coots, gallinules and other flora and fauna that exists in our area. We have maintained a small beach area that allows a clear access to the lake for both swimming and water skiing. The double boat house includes a roof deck for enjoying the lakeside activities of the day, the peaceful starlit nights and the calm, misty mornings that the lake can offer.
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
The home was lovely, and location was very convenient. Anything needed was nearby. The ONLY issue we had was the television in the master suite did not work and the projector was no where to be found, it appeared to be uninstalled during our visit unless we were totally missing it (but I dont think so, we saw where it "should have been".) But we had great fun in the pool and on the lake. Everything was very comfortable. Honestly a bit nervous about the check out, my family and I always aim to leave things as we found it and the $10 for each item out of place bit among the extensive check out list that would incur extra charges was sort of scary with three children and I have not seen a refund as of yet for the deposit so I am waiting still to see how that is going to turn out.. BUT... Overall the rating on the stay was wonderful. The rating on the comfort of check out and making me militant the whole time about "dont touch anything" was uncomfortable a lot of times. Again, we leave things as we found it.. but I just hated feeling like if the bean bag chair was not lined up in the exact direction it should have faced or the blinds werent facing up or the floor wasnt swept and mopped meant I was getting a whole other bill... It made my last day pretty unenjoyable because I was essentially going through the house as the housekeeper, not enjoying my family which was the whole point of the trip. Not to say the home shouldnt have been left in an appropriate condition, but the check out list was inappropriate in my opinion. Lovely home... disappointingly strict and scary check out. (And perhaps this is probably just to make sure people dont trash the home, understandable... but $10 to move something from the counter to the table four feet away.. ouch.) Am I glad we stayed there? Yes, absolutely. Would I stay there again? No way.. too much stress... lol I am glad we did though. We appreciated the stay very much. Thank you to the property owners.
Great Host !!!
Great house perfect for a trip there is absolutely no complaint that could be made concerning this property. One of the best homes we’ve stayed in in several years of using VRBO
Our family reunion
The home is beautiful and the surrounding area is fabulous. Our grandkids enjoyed the lake and pool very much!! SAD part is only 10 of us out of 16 were able to attend!! Pool table was a fun past time but missing the ping pong table! It was no where to be found!!
We had a few problems with the home, but were promptly fixed.
There were plenty of supplies and linens. Beds were good. Kitchen was chocked full of utensils, pots & pans, bowls, dishes, etc.
The trash situation was not good since it comes once a week! We all had to cart full trash bags home rather than get charged $50. a bag!!! We could not get local cable channels, only netflix, etc. Missed FOX NEWS and other TV shows!
A few suggestions: get a garbage disposal! That was very inconvenient and my biggest complaint is there is NO hand rail on the pool to enter and exit. Stairs are steep which made it impossible for me to get in and out without help! I believe it is very dangerous!
Overall it was a wonderful week for us!!
Thank you for the use of your home! God bless you!!
Great place. The owner was very responsive and extremely helpful. Glad we stayed here. Also, some nice ducks visit in the yard. Quiet, private, peaceful. Good place for a big family with children.
Amazing house with stunning views
Eric and Dee, thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful lake house. The house is amazing. There is so much space and excellent facilities. The piano was used daily and the beautiful outdoor pool. The TV channels were excellent for the boys who wanted to watch the UK premiership football games!
Your neighbours were lovely and very friendly as was John, your pool guy. The view to the lake was stunning and the peaceful location was simply beautiful. This is the best place we have ever stayed and we were all sad to leave. We hope we can visit again.
Spacious easily accommodating a large family or get together
Enjoyed our stay.
