Delightful and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was quiet, clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. Outside the cottage door was a sitting area that was private due to the vegetation surrounding it. The ocean was a block and 1/2 away; and Kailua Bay was an easy 1+ mile walk. The owner, son and daughter in-law were all very pleasant, and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

Ocean cottage, home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay in this cozy cottage which had everything we needed! Besides enjoying local restaurants, after one quick to get local groceries, we enjoyed cooking easy meals for breakfast and dinners in the cottage too - everything we needed was there. Breakfast we enjoyed on the patio with the beautiful garden and the huge variety of flowers and birds were amazing. Lynn and Dirk were very friendly and answered all our questions (and there were many) about all the local great hot spots and tips and tricks on the island for getting around, enjoying the beaches (away from heavy tourist locaitons), and the best times of day or evening to do certain things. We enjoyed establishing our own routine while there, and borrowing the bikes and beach gear and just loved walking "home" from the beach to our little cottage away from home.

Thank you so much Lynn, and we will definitely be coming back again!

perfect location, friendly owner

  • 5 of 5

Being from Los angeles, I wanted to be away from the craziness of Honolulu. This is definitely the perfect stay for me and my husband! It is a back house, with the owner living in the front. Lynn, her son, and daughter gave us our privacy, and at the same time was available for us whenever we had questions about hikes and things to do. The place was enough for 2 people, but can easily fit more since there are couches. The bikes was convenient to take to the beach/ town. the beach access was about 2-3 houses down, but the nice sandy Lanikai beach was about 5-10 minute walk. Her son helped us with the kayak rental, and even helped us get into the kayak and lent us his bag to put stuff in. The house had everything we needed; from kitchenware to shower stuff. the outdoor shower is very nice, since we went to the beach almost every day. it is in the town of kailua; where everything is mainly closed by 8-9pm, and the streets get dark. It is a safe and nice neighborhood. I recommend this place if you want a nice little quiet gettaway that is short walk to the beach!

very clean, no bug issue. ac available but we never had to turn it on. the ceiling fan was enough!

Loved our trip,cottage well kept,well supplied,lovely hostess,gorgeous beach close-simply paradise !

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I originally were to stay in a hotel in Honolulu, but that did not work out, thank goodness! Our stay at Lynn's cottage was such a blessing ! Lynn was so interesting, so informative, just lovely. The cottage was very clean and well supplied with everything one would need for a comfortable stay. There were plenty of stores close by to stock up on groceries or anything else needed. There is an endless variety of activities available. Our favorites were hiking, site-seeing, and mostly relaxing on the beautiful Lanikai Beach. This gorgeous beach is only about a 15 min walk from the cottage. We would highly recommend Lynn's cottage to anyone wanting a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable place to stay in paradise.

Cozy cottage with lovely private garden across from Lanikai water access

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful visit in Lanikai--the cottage is clean and has everything you need including a quiet garden and outdoor shower, bikes kayaks and paddle boards. We carried a kayak across the street to water access and had a beautiful paddle to mokes islands, and easy access to the water for swimming, wading or sunset views. Quiet neighborhood and easy drive to Kailua restaurants and stores. My daughter loved playing in the yard and garden--all of our hosts were very gracious and helpful.

Comfortable bungalow

  • 4 of 5

This Lanikai bungalow lets you truly experience the Hawaiian way of life without the hassle and cost of a commercial hotel. The bungalow is only a block away from the ocean with off-street parking, has easy access to a washer and dryer, and comes with a private patio surrounded by lush foliage (including a banana tree!). Even with Hawaii's breezes, it was nice to have the option of air conditioning in the bedroom (which we used several nights). Chairs, beach towels, and bikes are all readily available. Our hostess Lynn was welcoming and gracious.

Enjoyed our meal at Buzz's and looked forward to our daily coffee from Kalapawi Market in nearby Kailua. Hiked to the pillbox behind the bungalow for the spectacular view!

Not giving 5 stars only because the front room/eating area is relatively small (although we spent most of our time outdoors) and because the closest access to a usable beach is a couple of blocks away.
