About Jane at Beachshacks
I first discovered Cornwall in my late teens, working summer season's in St Ives. From that point I was smitten and in 2006 accidentally came across Thornleigh...
Jane at Beachshacks purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Jane at Beachshacks chose Breage
A detached house with a beautiful garden, tranquil & secluded yet close to the coast and within beautiful Cornwall. One day driving along a country lane close to the beautiful Godolphin Estate I came across Thornleigh for sale. Thornleigh is now available as a beautiful holiday home. Surrounded by half an acre of lovely gardens planted over many decades to reveal lots of interest and colour throughout the year. This oasis is close to the coast of Porthleven and Praa Sands so ideal for foodies and beach lovers! The house is central to so many activities throughout spectacular Cornwall.
What makes this Cottage unique
The beautiful half acre garden which now boasts a large wooden gazebo with sofas for casual dining. The interiors have been decorated with fresh scandi style fabrics, paintings by local artists, prints & books.

Loved it !
Our short break in Cornwall was fantastic the cottage was in a perfect location for us and inside and outside suited all our needs .
We will return !
We had a nice week but it took us a while to get used to property. The pictures make the house look a lot larger and more modern than the reality. The bedrooms are very cramped. The cleanliness of the house wasn't really up to scratch and our bedroom smelt very strongly of dogs. The house and decor itself were very down at heel, at best I’d say it reminded me Nice student digs, dirty carpets, mouldy bathrooms, smelly sofas, it certainly wasn’t plush.
On the upside the garden was very nice and the decking area was great, although with little outdoor lighting made it difficult to sit out side when it was dark,
The location was great, we were all just a bit disappointed by the standard of the house, if asked I would not be able to recommend it.
Perfect family holiday!
Thank you for a wonderful week......lovely cottage, lovely touches to accommodate all ages such as baby gates, and brilliant gazebo for the adults, and ultimately, the perfect setting!
Easy to book and good communication in the lead up to our stay.
Location is right in the mix of all that’s great about Cornwall. Great choice of easily accessible beaches and other attractions.
Relaxing and very well maintained garden emanating a very peaceful aura. Excellent for either relaxing in solitude or, with family/friends.
The cottage itself is of a reasonable size; not too small to make things cramped for larger groups.
The decor, bathrooms and kitchen could possibly do with updating .
Overall our stay was pleasurable and the location is ideal. We just feel that some interior updates to the cottage would make the experience even better.
Holidaying with friends
A great week spent here with friends...lots of sunny times in the garden enjoyed by adults, kids and the dog! Great location as long as you don't mind hopping in the car everyday as not much in walking distance but we wanted to explore the area so this wasn't a problem...so much to see in a stunning part of the country!!
Lovely cottage and beautiful garden, in wonderful peaceful countryside, ideally placed for exploring south Cornwall and the Lizard. Cosy, quaint and a wonderful place to relax and unwind.
