About this property

Beautiful Adobe Overlooking Ghost Ranch And Abiquiu Lake

Please see important NOTE at the end of this description regarding RV's and other recreation vehicles.

'It was all so far away--there was quiet and an untouched feel to the country and I could work as I pleased.' Georgia O'Keeffe

Serenity abounds at Casa Bonita, where it is easy to see why this country had such a profound impact on Georgia O'Keeffe. Light and open, this modern adobe rests on ten acres overlooking Abiquiu Lake towards Ghost Ranch, with gorgeous views in all directions. Picture windows throughout the living area allow you to appreciate the vistas from the comfort of the well-appointed interior. The covered portales (covered porches) are ideal for enjoying the tranquility of the environment. Admire the view of the Pedernal from the portale off of the master suite, or take in the iconic landscape of Ghost Ranch while you grill on the portale off of the kitchen.

Spend your days hiking, visiting area galleries, or reconnecting with your own creative side. And after enjoying the unique sunset at the end of the day, savor the starlight of the unadulterated night sky.

'My first memory is of light--the brightness of light--light all around.' Georgia O'Keeffe

NOTE: RV's, trailers of any sort, large trucks, and small vehicles: motorcycles, skimobiles and such are prohibited in this gated community, called High Mesas.

Every window in every direction has a memorable view and this beautiful home has many picturesque windows! It’s quiet, peaceful, and begs you to relax and rest. This beautiful adobe is super clean and the kitchen has everything you need. We miss Casa Bonita - our hearts want to stay there a very long time! Thank you John for sharing your home!

Everything we expected and more!
For two teachers who wanted to get away on spring break and be surrounded by peace and beauty, we couldn't have picked a better property. This place has everything - incredible views, room to walk and explore, so many stars, and the perfect house to take it all in. Although it is a bit off the beaten path, that is exactly what we wanted - a place to come back to when exploring the northern parts of the state. It was our first trip to New Mexico, and it won't be our last!

Special house; astonishing views
John has made this house comfortable and beautiful. The views are impossible to describe--beyond breathtaking. We were exhausted from an overwhelming beginning of the year, and this place was the perfect retreat for rest, recovery, and transformative nature.

Secluded desert retreat
John's casita is beautiful! This is our second time staying at this beautiful, well decorated and furnished home. Besides being a beautiful adobe style casita with a modern touch, it is located perfectly to enjoy views of the lake, high desert and Cerro Pedernal. At night you can't beat the open sky and sparkling stars. Once you come here, you will want to return!
