This beautiful retreat has easy access to mountain activities yet is in a quiet and private area. You can bask in the tranquility of the mountains or take a short drive to everything from Santa’s Village to skiing to swimming, depending on the season! The Treehouse is on a paved road that is maintained and plowed during snowy weather. This fully equipped home is spacious and cozy. It has an open floor plan, big windows, 2 fireplaces, tv’s and pool table. There is something for everyone to enjoy!
Lake Arrowhead is in the mountains at about 5,500 feet--the Treehouse is at 5700 feet. It is about 30 minutes from San Bernardino, which is at the base of the mountain. Los Angeles is about an hour and a half southwest.
The temperature at the Treehouse will be 15 to 20 degrees cooler than the valley below during the summer months. The weather in the fall and winter drops considerably lower.
The mountain area is incredibly beautiful and peaceful with lots of trees. Arrowhead Villas, where we are located, has a small town feel with narrow and twisting roads. The other unique thing about The Villas is that the people are incredibly friendly and down to earth. It is like being transported back in time.
The historic Tudor house is within walking distance, and offers dinner theater and regular events throughout the year.
Lake Arrowhead Village is about 10 minutes away and sits on Lake Arrowhead. There are shops and restaurants in The Village and the Arrowhead Resort and Spa is close by.
Lake Gregory is just 15 minutes away with a public beach and activities for the entire family. Big Bear is another 30 minutes up the mountain and has a larger public lake and more clubs and nightlife.
In the winter, snow skiing and sledding are as close as 12 miles away at Snow Valley Mountain Resort near Running Springs. Snow-Drift Tubing Park is another place to sled near Running Springs. And more skiing is just 26 miles away at Snow Summit in Big Bear.
Santa's Village is a quick 5-10 minute drive away on Highway 18. Even if Santa is "out of office," his Village is a great place to entertain the kids (and adults) in ALL seasons.
Additional winter note: In snowy conditions, CHAINS MAY BE REQUIRED for access up the mountain and for driving on mountain roads. Be sure to check weather and road conditions by contacting CalTrans, the National Weather Service, etc. We do not extend refunds due to weather conditions, road closures, driver's abilities or vehicle limitations. Mountain weather may require shoveling snow. Guests will be responsible for shoveling steps, the deck and shoveling a path to and from the cabin. Snow shovels are located on the cabin deck -- shoe/boot chains are highly recommended to prevent slips when conditions are snowy and icy.
In the winter season, the game room is quite chilly, even with the furnace blasting. Although we have beds in that room, we don't recommend anyone sleeping there in the winter. For added daytime warmth, we recommend you plan on purchasing extra firewood for the game room fireplace.
And, finally, blue jays, squirrels and lots of variety of woodland critters will courageously visit with you--if you have the proper "treat" (which is in the metal bucket nearby)!
