Gorgeous Compound for friends and family
When I stepped into the home for the first time I was blown away with the view as well as the furnishings. We spent 7 glorious days here and every minute I wanted to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. The staff makes you feel right at home and are so helpful in planning your excersions. This home is great for couples and kids.I highly recommend a stay here. You won't be disappointed.
Fabulous home for a multi-generational Vacation
Gorgeous is not a strong enough word to describe this breath-taking compound. Our extended family rented this home for Christmas week and it was perfect. My in-laws and the 3 adult couples were in the main house and 6 grandkids (ages 22- 13) were in the bunkhouse. Everyday we enjoyed a local adventure like surfing, zip-lining, stand-up paddle boarding, horseback riding, snorkeling, and a nature walk. And we still had plenty of time to relax by the infinity pool and watch the sunset over the ocean with drink in hand. The house's layout and location were perfect! Plenty of space to be together and plenty of quiet nooks to be alone.
Heaven on Earth
We had 10 glorious days at Rancho Rio Montana. Running away from not-even-spring in Germany and arriving the next morning in sunny, hot Nosara - a dream coming true! And that was just the beginning! The ranch is the place you would imagine seeing only in heaven. Lushy, green vegetation, the brightest colours on Earth all around you, the ocean on one side and the jungle on the other, hummingbirds flying by, howler monkeys jumping from branch to branch on trees in front of you, tiny iguanas decorating walls and the stylish architecture! Every possible pampering amenities of modern life - room service and organized tour on the ranch on horses - combined with hand-carved wooden furniture and window panels and fresh flowers every day in Costa-Rican artisan potteries. And that is still not everything! Within easy reach you can go to at least 6-7 beautiful beaches, picking the one that suits your style the most for the day: surfing? turtle watching? sunset with champagne? or fishing? - not a problem! If you're even more adventurous, you can try zip-lining! Gives you the shiver but wow!!! And if you go with teenagers (we did), driving those quads in places where that is the one and only vehicle you can use - that is a memory they'll never forget! And I could go on and on... Nosara restaurants and ice-cream shops, mango and pine apple from the tree, watching sunset from next to the pool while sipping fresh pina colada, barbeque night, rodeo visit and many more. Don't believe me, go and check it out yourself!
You have to experience it to really appreciate it!
My family and I will be returning to Ranch Rio Montana in the near future for our third time. Our first time seeing this jewel left us speechless and tears in my wife's eyes. It is that spectacular. We have children that age from tween to twenties and there is no shortage of activities to keep everyone happy. The favorite activity and must do every time we go back is the zip lining at Miss Sky's. Horseback riding, ATVing and hitting the various beaches usually round out our time. We always book a couple of days of just staying "in" and enjoying the villa and cooking some good meals. The sunrise is worth getting up for with a cup of coffee as the air is still cool, and the sun begins to peak over the mountain tops with the Howler monkeys playing the roll of rooster. The sunsets are amazing, everyday. We have never experienced a day where I had to worry about the weather, it doesn't change. This is a perfect vacation that has adventure if you want it, or the ideal place to disengage the world. The staff is wonderful, especially Rene, the manager. He will help you with anything you need. You will definitely want to return once you have experienced RRM.
Perfect Escape from the Everday
I had the special opportunity for a 6-day visit to Rancho Rio Montana. This vacation was a celebration of retirement and an escape from a winter of 100” of snow. – What a treat this trip turned out to be. The house and property are beautiful - the house is stylish, comfortable and roomy, with every imaginable creature comfort and the Costa Rican/Mexican decor blends in perfectly with the surrounding landscape. The staff is helpful and friendly. Within easy access are towns, beaches, restaurants and markets where we could enjoy the local culture and hospitality. Right on the property are challenging fitness walks, fun horseback riding and evening visits from howler monkeys. Though I loved exploring with my hosts, there was no guilt if I hung back by the pool with a book and a smoothie. What a perfect place both to decompress and explore. And the glorious sunsets and starry skies are an added bonus. I absolutely ecommend Rancho Rio Montana to all.
Relaxation central with privacy and access to local beaches
We spent a beautiful relaxing week poolside and beach side in this tropical paradise. The hilltop location makes for splendid views of the coast, a gentle afternoon breeze, and a sunset like no other. During the heat of the day, relax on a shady porch and take dips in the infinity pool to cool off. Ranch location makes for easy access to walking in the hills at dawn, and proximity to beaches leads to flexibility in exploring all of the nearby towns. I never made it to yoga because I was busy flowing poolside, but opportunities for classes abound in the surrounding town. Eat out or cook in! We enjoyed homemade guacamole and cocktails before driving to dinner many nights. Always felt secure in this private location. Can't wait to return!
From the Owner
“Our love affair with Nosara began 25 years ago and our two twenty-something daughters consider Nosara their second home. We bought the Rancho Rio Montana property in the 1990's committed to maintaining the property as a vibrant working cattle ranch which supports several local families. In 2004 we finally decided it was time to build and we finished our home in 2008. We have hosted many wonderful gatherings of family and friends over the past eight years.”

From the Owner
“Our house was built by us as a labor of love: from the 'eco friendly' features to the custom wood work built entirely with wood harvested on the Ranch. The tranquility and privacy of the Ranch location is unique and what we love the most. When asked, our family and virtually all of our guests will tell you that the horseback riding on the Ranch with the cowboys is there very favorite activity. As wonderful as it is to hang out at the beach there is something special about leaving all the heat and dust behind and heading up to the Ranch at the end of the day to enjoy the cooling breezes and spectacular sunsets.”
