About Meghan O'Rourke
I'm a writer and editor from Brooklyn, NY, who first came to Marfa, TX on a grant from the Lannan Foundation, and fell in love with the wide-open spaces and community here. I hope you'll love it as much as I do.
Meghan O'Rourke purchased this House in 2008
Why Meghan O'Rourke chose Marfa
One thing that drew me to this house are the high ceilings, great light, and its many small rooms. It's a wonderful place to relax and work. There are two entrances and two bathrooms, so groups can have privacy. It's also nice to have the central air and heat.
What makes this House unique
The light, the airiness, the high ceilings.

The property was just as listed. Tastefully minimalistic furnishings. More than enough was provided from the owner of the property.
4 women's 3 nights stay in Marfa, TX
The house was not clean: windows and shades were very dusty. We assumed that the TV listed was connected to a cable company-only Nexflix. Very disappointed. With no micowave or toaster - should be listed on info. Sheets and towels were clean. House needs to upgrade for Vrbo or dropped from list. Dishes and kitchen were clean but not a comforable stay. Back bedroom was not in good shape.
Loved this place!
We loved the character of this house! Very clean, quiet, comfy beds, great a/c that kept us cool and a good location. I’d stay here again!
Perfect stay in Marfa!
The house is modern, clean, and well appointed. Close to everything and great communication with our host - definitely recommend!
The shower curtain in the main bath is disgusting. The sheets hadn’t been washed in quite a while and we ending washing our own for the main bed. The toilets hadn’t been scrubbed in quite some time either. The house also needs a microwave.
Such a charming home, had the most magical time!
The first time we walked into the home, we were all wowed by how wonderful and clean the house was. It is very spacious and beautifully decorated and had that Marfa charm. The location was perfect. The kitchen is huge with a great dining area perfect for a nice night in with a home cooked meal. Highly recommend staying here, it’s a great place to relax and have that magical Marfa stay.
There's lots to do in the area: tours of Chinati and Donald Judd's house, hikes in Alpine and in Big Bend, the excellent Marfa Book Co., a visit to the Marfa Mystery lights, dinner at nearby Cochineal and Maiya's, lunch at the Food Shark, drives under the open sky, swimming at Balmorrhea, and much more.
