About the Owner

Our Family fell in love with Gatlinburg, The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and surrounding areas, 3 years ago on our first vacation trip to the Smokies. On our 3rd vacation we came across our new found home OWL PINE CHALET, which has a 'One of a Kind' View and Bavarian Style House. Our Original plan was to purchase a house,in Gatlinburg, 8 years down the road, with the intention of retiring and moving down full time.

Owl Pine Chalet is that exceptional property. The chances of a house like this making its way onto the Real Estate Market is Rare. Normally Houses like this are passed on,within a family, from Generations to Generation.

Our family enjoys all Outdoor Activity, such as Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, Mountain Climbing, Fishing, Golf, Tennis... The Smokies and Chalet Village have it all. And with the 3 club Houses on Ski Mountain we have the pools and Tennis courts for our and our guests use and enjoyment.

Picking the Name: Owl Pine Chalet

Just the setting alone reminds us of the Bavarian Alps, in the Summer and Winter (not as much snow and shorter winter season). The house architecture was designed in the style of a Bavarian or Swiss Alps House. Names such as Apline Chalet, Alps Hause, Chalet Edelweiss...were nice names that would fit, but these were too frequently used, so we did a play on words and that's how we came up with 'Owl Pine Chalet'.

It being our first time renting a cabin in the mountains, everything was just as we thought. The cabin was big & spacious & the view was outstanding! Jim was very helpful with sending us all kinds of information, directions & things to do in the area. Would do it again!

We truly enjoyed Owl Pine and can't wait to come back! What AMAZING views of Mt Le Conte and beyond. Neighbors were a little loud at night, and chainsaw and construction noise was a hindrance when outside during the day, but otherwise we really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and had everything we could ever want or need, and the location was the very best. Have stayed in several other cabins in the Smokies but this one will be our favorite. Especially appreciated a flat parking area. Jim was a dear to work with and very attentive and his information was extremely comprehensive. I highly recommend this fantastic 'owlpine' oasis!

Nature comes a'callin

  • 5 of 5

First night after unpacking we were sitting on the deck to watch the sunset splash across Mt Laconte. The mountain is virtually a dead center view from the deck. We could see where winters last gasp left snow along the upper layer of the mountain from the previous night. The snow melted quickly since we were back to 75 degree weather for the duration of our stay. Nature wasn't done yet, at 7:15 same night a large black bear crossed the road in front of the chalet while we sat on the deck, wow. I thought maybe we could catch a glimpse and a picture if another decided to follow that same path. I grabbed my smart phone and leaned over the deck looking. Turns out I didn't have to look long or far, another equally large bear was walking along the side of the chalet next door only about 15 feet away. I snapped several pictures as the bear also crossed the street, up the driveway and then stairs of the house across the street, he walked to the side of that house and proceeded up the hill and into the woods. Fantastic experience.

This was our second year in a row we celebrated our anniversary in the Owl Pine Chalet. I anticipate we will stay there each year from now on. All you need is food and towels for the jacuoozi, everything else is provided. This Chalet is a first class getaway any time of year!😂

Great owner, tremendous view

  • 5 of 5

Jim was a delight to work with and the house had everything we needed. We had two little kids with us 4 and 2 and it was a great house for our needs. The hot tub ended up being a huge draw too! The kids wore their puddle jumpers in the hot tub and we were able to control the temperature so we could all enjoy the hot tub and the awesome view! The view of the mountain was amazing and always changing!! We loved waking up to that mountain view every morning! it was close to the downtown area as well as Ober gatlinburg, though that park was closed when we were there. Would definitely recommend this place!

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. The cabin was spotless, comfortable and well stocked. We were a group of 4 plus frequent visits from our daughter and her boyfriend from Knoxville and there was plenty of room for everyone. We ate dinner out on the deck a number of times since the weather was so nice and I loved having my morning coffee on the deck watching the first Ober Gatlinburg tram glide by. Bears were active! My husband saw one in the street one morning and then my daughter saw one in the neighbor's back yard our final morning. We additionally saw 4 bears driving around Cades Cove. The owner Jim provided tons of information prior to the trip to help us plan our week. The cabin is in a great location to enjoy the National Park. The first drive up to the cabin is a little hairy as the road is steep and winding (Jim warned us!), but we got use to it quickly.

As for activities we enjoyed - my daughter and I enjoyed a horseback ride from the Sugarland Stables. We celebrated my birthday at Dixie Stampede which was lots of fun and the food was surprisingly good.

From the Owner

The following are the most important things that attracted us to the property and it's location: 1) Parking - needed a place to park that was not off street and did not require 4 wheel drive to go up or down. This house is level with the road, which is not a steep road. 2) One Step up to the Main Deck of House from Parking Area. 3) View The View is one of the biggest in my opinion. The view position of the house is perfect and close to Mt Leconte. In the fall, I even get a partial city view. 4) Access to 3 Club Houses on the mountain, all with Pools and 2 with tennis courts and indoor game rooms. 5) Location to Key Roads and Activities. Location to the National Park was important and close proximity to Ober Gatlinburg (1 mile) as well as the City of Gatlinburg (1.5 miles).

Activity and Interests

Located in the Mountains above the City of Gatlinburg, 1.5 Miles from Light #10 (up ski mtn rd). The House has a Flat Level driveway and Parking and a Big view of Mt LeConte. Within 1 mile of the following: National Park, Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort, Swimming Pool/rec Ctr. 3 seperate Pools/Club houses located on the mountain
