About Fay Tangermann
We fell in love with the Yukon over 35 years ago and have made it our home since. We are still pretty busy working on projects but are enjoying this beautiful area next to the Hotsprings, spending a lot of time outdoors with our friendly dog Nya. We're looking forward to making your stay comfortable and memorable!
Fay Tangermann purchased this House in 2016
Why Fay Tangermann chose Whitehorse
The property is part of the Takhini Hotsprings resort lands. They are located in the traditional territory of the Ta'an Kwach'an First Nation. The area is popular with locals and travellers alike. The tranquility away from hustle and bustle drew us here and we love our solitary walks in the hills where deer and elk herds roam, and birds find refuge on their annual migrations. The opportunities for hiking and biking are many, on and beyond the resort trails.
What makes this House unique
The house is new; it was built by us in 2015. My husband Gunter paid a lot of attention to detail and it shows - our guests enjoy that. "Everything you need" is in this warm and comfy little house. The magic of the northern lights will enchant you on cold winter nights. In summer, sit in the sun on the deck, watch and listen to the birds.... rest, relax and reconnect! Light a camp fire or stroll down to the hot pools for a soak. Walk over to the charming little Bean North - Cafe in the Woods for a treat, and organic, free-trade coffee roasted on-site. The Yukon Wildlife Preserve is a 20-minute walk can experience moose, muskoxen, mountain goats, Wood Bison, Mule Deer, caribou, elk, lynx, arctic foxes and different types of northern sheep.

If I could give this 10 stars, I would!
My trip to the Yukon was special, and one I had been planning for a long time. Staying at this property made the trip perfect. Fay and Gunter are the type of hosts that make you feel like you are part of their family. They checked in with me often to see if I needed anything. They had a lot of advice about the surrounding area. They even set up a campfire for me! Everything I could have needed was in this cottage. If I thought there was something I was missing, (for example a bread knife), sure enough, I found one in a drawer. The heating was more than warm enough. The bed was comfortable. It was a very quiet location, but easy to get to about 20-25 mins from Whitehorse. The cabin itself is slightly larger than it looks in the pictures. It is big enough for you to not feel cramped, but small enough to feel cozy. Like Goldilocks, I found this too be just right, though I never saw any bears in the area! ;) I hope to visit the Yukon again someday as it was a life-changing trip for me, and when I do, I will definitely stay at this cottage again. I can't say enough good things about the cottage or the hosts.
Thank you, Mary, for your lovely words. We’re glad your trip to the Yukon was what you had hoped for... We much enjoyed hosting you and would love to welcome you again some day.
We loved this cabin, just a half hour from Whitehorse. It had everything we needed, including bear spray!! Fay was easy to communicate with and very helpful. Miles Canyon a little south of Whitehorse and great trails and wonderful views of the Yukon river.
Thank you! We loved to host you.
Back to the Yukon after 45 years
Very nice little house. Its just as advertised. The Tangermann's very welcoming and informative (thank you). Location was perfect for us. The house was perfect for us. Short 25km +/- drive to Whitehorse on good paved roads and highways. Well located for day driving trips to the many great Yukon sights and destination's. A great spot just to hang around, relax on the deck, a campfire in the evening, good walking trails close by, and with the many trees and sloping terrain it is very private even though the area nearby has a lot of activity with the nearby campground, hots springs facility, a few private homes. Wild foxes came wandering by often, nice to see. My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay here. We loved being back in the Yukon.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are happy you had a pleasant stay. We are most grateful to you for taking such good care of the place and for leaving it in excellent shape. We would love to welcome you again some day. Best wishes!
We had a wonderful 7 day stay!
Lovely cottage, clean and comfortable! Faye and Gunter were super! The cottage had all the amenities you need and even supplied the bear spray (just in case). We were very happy about that because it meant that we didn’t have to go buy it as you do need it if you plan to hike! Wifi and cell coverage was fine so we were able to communicate with Family and friends. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back!
Absolutely perfect in every way!!
A beautiful home, in the perfect location, that is meticulously clean, extremely well equipped, with the nicest, most wonderful hosts! We loved it so much, we returned for a second time, and can’t wait until we return again. It is in a quiet peaceful location, away from the city, but close enough that it is easy to get back-and-forth. Takhini Hot Springs is a 5 min walk, and the Wildlife Preserve is just a few mins drive down the road. This is the absolute perfect place to explore Whitehorse and area from! The hosts are a wealth of knowledge in regards to anything you might want to know about Whitehorse and the Yukon. We rate the property and the hosts 200 out of 5 in every category!
Dear Dorothy and Allen, it was an absolute delight to host you again. We’re so glad you enjoyed your time here and are looking forward to your next visit!
