About the Owner
I had the pleasure of staying ar the casa blanca with my familly.... This property is even better in real life. The location is amazing....you can't be more in the centre of the action yet you can relax in a very private surrounding.... The house is BEAUTIFUL and huge! I highly recommend this location
Beautiful Colonial house in Granada.
This has to be one of the nicest homes in Granada. It is very large and extremely well designed. The renovation is given the house all of the necessary modern conveniences and the quality of the management and the housekeeping is superb. Guillermo is an extremely responsible owner who maintains excellent communication throughout the rental process. The attention to detail in the house indicates someone with a very fine architectural and design eye. The kitchen is stocked with all necessary silverware and cooking ware for a good size group. Having purified ice is of great convenience in the refrigerator. We did have an air conditioning unit go down on a Sunday and the after hours staff was able to bring in a repair technician within several hours to get the unit working again. It was an example of a well functioning management group. There is parking for one small car in the house garage but otherwise parking is a bit of a hassle in Granada. We elected to use supervised indoor parking near the house for our vehicles. You are right in the center of town and there are many eating and entertainment options available. The cost and quality of the accommodation compares very favorably to a hotel when you have a larger group. I cannot recommend the Casablanca enough to someone who is visiting Granada Nicaragua.
Second time's a charm too
This visit was the second time we have stayed in Casa Blanca. Our first visit was almost two years ago. We thought the house was spectacular then, and it still is. The property is meticulously maintained and the open courtyard is more lush than before. We are a group of 4 friends (men) who travel regularly to Nicaragua to get away from the hustle and bustle of the good old USA. On past trips we have enjoyed boat tours, exploring the countryside, markets, etc. often each going our own way. This time we spent most of our visit enjoying the house and la calle la Calzada (Gringo Street) right outside our door. The pool is spotless and got multiple uses each day. Guadalupe, the housekeeper/onsite manager, keeps the floors, bathrooms, bedrooms, furniture, appliances all squeaky clean. The rental management agency, GPS, was extremely responsive to our needs and is right across the street. We had difficulty with one of the front locks and after they looked at it, it was replaced in less than an hour, which included cutting the lock out of the metal gate and welding a new one in and repainting everything to match. They even keyed the new lock to our keys. The owners Guillermo and Melanie have a gem of a house that we will return to every visit to Granada.
Incredible haven in the heart of Granada
After looking at the pictures online, we knew that this house was going to be nice. But as many other reviewers have said, the pictures don't even almost do it justice. Upon arrival, everything was completely ready for us, and the house was bigger, cleaner, and more impeccably decorated than we could have imagined. Throughout our stay Guillermo and Elizabeth and everyone in GPS were very responsive to our requests, no matter how big or small. Any problem (dead batteries, trouble working the grill) was fixed within hours. When we requested a complicated two day trip to Costa Rica, they did everything in their power to work with a connect on the CR side, a transfer on the Nica side, and set everything up perfectly so that we were in good hands the whole trip and never stranded or confused. The AC in the rooms was a much needed escape from the sweltering heat at night, and the pool somehow remained a perfect temperature all day long. We were able to accommodate all of our friends for dinner one night, but it didn't feel to large when it was just us. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The location itself was incredible - located on the main strip of restaurants and bars, right behind central park and the cathedral, everything was easily accessible. And the one worry we had, being the noise of this busy street, wasn't even a problem. We would recommend this house to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in Granada, and definitely hope to make it back here in the future.
I recently saw a good Italian Movie called " la Grande Bellazza". It's about a successful writer who lives a charmed life in his beloved Rome. One of the very special treats he offers his friends is a trip with a man who has 7 keys to old Palazzi in Rome not open to any visitors. Each very beautiful and special.
I got the feeling we were handed a similar key to a truly special Palazzo in Grenada. Beautiful house and a great location in a special town. We loved it and hopefully will be back! Worth the trip to Nicaragua by itself.
This place ROCKS!!!
The photos are beautiful and accurate, however being at Casa Blanca in person is FABULOUS!!!!
I recently spent about 10 days of relaxation there and it exceeded expectations. The house, furnishings, efficient kitchen, enclosed and expansive private courtyard, refreshing pool, lounging hammock and soothing garden are everything that anyone or any group would want or need.
Very comfortable, the architecture and decor are outstanding.....and each bedroom is en suite.
The colonial town of Granada is historic, vibrant and colorful. Delicious cuisine, lots of art studios, gigantic lake with private islands, puffing but non-violent volcanoes, hiking, boating and many other activities available.
Or just take a deeeeeeeeep breeeeaaaathe and RELAX!!!!!!
From the Owner
“This is really a special place. It was built in the 1750s and is one of the oldest buildings in Granada. It underwent a 3-year restoration to bring it back to it's original splendor. The house has original floors, ceilings and doors dating back to it's construction along with all the modern amenities one would need.”
Activity and Interests
Drawn by year-round warm weather, colonial-era architecture and the freshwater Lake Nicaragua, travelers from around the world are flocking to Granada. Eco-tourists will love visiting the dormant Mombacho volcano, sailing on the lake and ziplining through the trees. Fans of spa treatments and shopping will find plenty to do, too.
Nicaragua travel tops the New York Times’ best in travel for 2013. Ranked third out of forty-six select destinations, Nicaragua made it to the top of the list. Nicaragua is a country of thriving culture, history, wildlife and boasts a landscape dominated by pristine rainforest and miles & miles of serene sandy shoreline. Its avenue of volcanoes is stunning and protected by national parks. Conscious of their natural treasures, “eco” is both practiced and preached in Nicaragua. Nicaragua Lake is vast; it rivals that of Lake Titicaca in its beauty and grandeur. The lake’s Ometepe Island is the largest freshwater island in the world. It is composed of two volcanoes and an isthmus that connects them. Hiking here is a must. Beyond its natural features, Nicaragua’s nicest colonial city, Granada, offers great dining, exquisite cathedrals and museums from the Spanish era.

“Centrally located. Just one block off the main park. Casa Blanca is tucked in behind the town's main cathedral and on Granada's main pedestrian street and restaurant row, Calle Calzada. The house has the traditional colonial design with a central courtyard full of beautiful tropical plants and a deep and cool 40 ft long swimming pool.
