We are from KY and bought this condo in June of 2013 with hopes of becoming 'Snow Birds' someday. My wife, who is a nurse, is also a teacher, teaching middle school special education, God bless her. We plan to visit Cocoa Beach 3 or 4 times a year and find that it feels like home. We usually drive down and it usually takes about 12 hours. Our 17 year old son loves the beach and the pool. He also loves to kayak. Our daughter is 35 and comes with us some but I am sure will want to use the unit on trips with her friends (should I give her a discount?).

Why Philip Gilkison chose Cocoa Beach
We have found over the years that we much prefer staying in a condo over a hotel. We have vacationed in Florida Condos many times but our favorite spot is Cocoa Beach. After looking at many units with the help of a great realtor, Jennifer McCoy with Remax Elite, we decided that Sandcastles was the best that Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral had to offer. I used to watch I Dream of Jennie when I was younger and appreciate the fact that we are just a short distance from I Dream of Jennie Blvd. I always keep an eye out for fancy bottles buried in the sand when we walk the beach.
What makes this Condo unique
We love the spacious interior, the large pool and the hot tub. The seventh floor ocean front location is second to none for ocean/beach views. We also enjoy a short walk to the the local park or to the fitness center across the street. But being right on the beach so that we can go out for an early morning walk and watch the sunrise as we walk along the quiet beach is our very most favorite thing about our vacations to Cocoa Beach. Lori Wilson Park is just about a hundred yards up the beach and it is a great place for a picnic or a walk through the 'jungle'.

Check out was supposed to be at 10 am but house keeping showed up at 940 am and she was upset that we had not vacated the unit yet we thought it was rather rude overall everything else was great we would rent this unit again the proximity to the beach and the views where perfect
I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and do hope to see you again. I have already sent a copy of your review to the housekeeping company. I am so very sorry that your stay was interrupted by the housekeeper. They are well aware check out time and should never have disturbed you. Update: The housekeeping company got back with me and the employee in question has been terminated.
One of the best in Sandcastles
Sandcastles is like our second home as we have stayed here at least a dozen times in the past 15 years. Phillip has one of the best condos we’ve ever stayed in. The amenities were top notch. Large TVs in every room. The kids loved that the tv in the second bedroom was a roku tv so they could enjoy all their shows. The view is awesome. Master bedroom view is incredible. The condo is laid out nicely. The sectional is comfortable. The 2 full beds in the 2nd bedroom were great for our older children. We will definitely be back and Phillip is the best!

Nice clean condo with beautiful view
My family loved staying in 706 we loved the view . My wife loved laying on the bed and looking out the window at the ocean. She also liked the recliner in the bedroom where she liked to read. The beach supplies in the closet were nice. We spent most of our time at the property and we like the atmosphere all the people are nice. Cocoa beach is a great area lots to do with a small town feel. Oh we also viewed a rocket launch from the balcony really cool thanks a lot hope to be back.
Amenities not up to par. This VBRO property sells the view/location only.
1. Kitchen lite out.
2. Bathroom water pressure (sinks) awful.
3. HAVC vents visible dirt/mold? Makes one wonder when the filters were replaced.
4. Master bed to high/unsafe. I am 5' 6'', wife 5' 3''. Getting in and out of bed was an event and unsafe to use bathroom at night.
5. Stove burners uneven, hard to cook on.
6. The mix/match of cookware and glassware not up to VBRO standards.
7. Coffee maker from last century. Needs upgrading (Kurig recommeded).
8. STRONG SUSPICION OF BEDBUGS IN BOTH MATTRESS IN THE KIDS BEDROOM. BOTH OF MY GIRLS HAD BITES ALL OVER THERE BODIES. THE FAMILY DID ALL OUR ACTIVITIES TOGETHER, MY WIFE AND I DID NOT HAVE ANY SUCH BITES.
9. Light fixture in master bathroom above sink is dirty/rusted.
This property has great potential to be a 5 star. The above comments/maintenance is general upkeep that I would do in my own house.
I have reviewed your concerns. 1. Housekeeping told me that one light in the kitchen above the refrigerator was flickering, a repairman is already aware and has fixed it or will do so soon. 2. Bathroom faucets are the type with the trough that the water flows out of and if volume is too high, water would spray out all over the room, I called a plumber and he said that there was nothing wrong and was just a characteristic of this faucet. 3. I had someone come in and check the vents, they are painted white and there are some small chips in the paint but there is no mold. 4. Master bed is several inches lower than my bed at home, I am very sorry but I am not able to adjust the bed height according to the height of my guests. 5. When the Stove burners were cleaned the housekeepers probably did not get them back in their slots correctly, they should be fine now. 6. There is a set of Corelleware and two sets of glasses as well as a set of pans. Over time guests have left extra dishes, glasses and pans but most people don't consider a few extras a problem, 7. The coffee maker is not new but is 2 to 3 years old.. 8. The beds have been checked and there are no bugs, the mattresses have covers which are designed to prevent leaks and infestation. 9. Light fixture in master bath and in the other bathroom and dressing area were boght from Lowe's last year. They are not dirty and they shouldn't be rusted.
Any concerns should be reported to me immediately. I have a maintenance man who lives in the building and he is able to take care of minor problems quickly. Usually the same day and often in a few minutes after my call. Update: I was finally able to visit the unit and found that virtually nothing that this guest said was true. There was a problem with one light in the kitchen which has been fixed but it was above the refrigerator and had no effect on the lighting on the counter as all other ceiling lights were working as were the under counter lights. There was some paint peeling from the a/c vents in the living room and master bedroom (no mold) and those have been replaced. No other signs of problems could be found with anything else that he said.
May Vacation to Cocoa Beach
We were so impressed with the condo and the facilities! We had the best beach vacation we've had in several years and will definitely rebook when we return to Cocoa Beach. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Beds could use some updating. Would like some more dresser space to unpack clothes.
But overall we liked it.
