About the neighborhood:

The Jacobsen House is located in the sunny Dogpatch neighborhood on the South Eastern bay side of San Francisco.

Just south of downtown San Francisco, the Dogpatch neighborhood offers easy access to multiple attractions. Public transportation is available via the 3rd street rail line, the 48 and 22 bus lines, and the Cal Train commuter rail service--all within two blocks of the apartment.

There is a wonderful cafe nearby if you crave a cappuccino, and six renown restaurants within two blocks. Just up Potrero Hill, there are more restaurants and local shopping.

Notably, this area typically escapes the foggy marine layer that moves into the northerly and westerly San Francisco neighborhoods each afternoon.

About urban neighborhood parking:

The Dogpatch neighborhood has ample street parking relative to other San Francisco neighborhoods. As in all San Francisco neighborhoods, some blocks have 4 hour restrictions during the business day; other blocks have no restrictions. All blocks have street cleaning once per week. All parking rules are clearly posted on each block.

Alternatively, guests may opt for off street parking at the nearby public lot for only $5.00 per 24 hour period. A bargain payable directly to the lot.

Thank you so very much for driving me to the Pier 39. I had a great day watching the boats and touring. I hope you like red wine, we left you a bottle on the counter, as well as Long Board beer in the fridge. Thank you again, Linda

Super clean and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

This place was awesome! Lots of character in this historic 3 home/level house. We stayed in the downstairs unit which was sleekly redecorated and very comfortable. I'm a little OC about cleanliness and was truly impressed with the neat and tidy condition of this home. Uber and Lyft rides were just a few minutes away every time. If you bring a car, careful with street parking: read the owners tips and diagrams that were very well explained in their info notebook. There is an awesome restaurant across the street for dinner at night and a nice coffee/bakery for the am.

Best home in Dogpatch!

  • 5 of 5

The listing was completely accurate in location, layout, amenities, and as pictured. The location is accessible to SFO, AT&T Park, Union Square, and highways. Enjoyed every stroll and walk around the area: best ice cream, bouldering activity, and cafe and restaurants I've been to. Property is absolutely gorgeous, home feel, clean, and updated. I would absolutely recommend this great home.

A taste of home in a good neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time in this property during a 5-day vacation in February. The description and pictures are very accurate and detailed.

The flat is beautifully decorated with good taste and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay away from home (good beds; modern bathroom with soap, lots of new towels, hot water; full kitchen w/ gas range, oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, etc.; plus shared washer/drier in the patio). Everything was new, very clean and worked in good order. The property comfortably fits 5 persons; 6 may be a bit tight.

Some things to consider: Property has no central heat or A/C: Main room has a space heater and the other bedroom is heated from a gas chimney in the adjacent living room (which did not bother us, and we live in a tropical country w/ 90º all year round). Meals are eaten either in the kitchen or in the shared patio.

Owner came shortly after we arrived to check that everything was OK and was a phone call away whenever we needed him. We did have a problem with the water heater one night and he responded immediately; and the matter was solved the next morning (even though it happened during a long weekend holiday). Moreover, he generously offered to refund our night for the inconvenience, which was unexpected and highly appreciated.

Neighborhood feels safe and has many restaurants and stores nearby. We drove from LA and had the option to park in the street or in a paid parking lot ($21 per week) half block away. Bus stop is 1 block away. We were 10 minutes away from the city center and 15 minutes from the airport by car.

All in all , this is a wonderful property, in a good neighborhood, and the owner is at hand when needed and takes cares of their guests. I would recommend it to my friends and relatives; and will definitively try to book it the next time I am vacationing in San Francisco.

Location

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Historic Victorian located in the fashionable micro-neighborhood of Dogpatch. Situated on the sunny, San Francisco Bay side of Potrero Hill, Dogpach grew from the need for industrial worker housing in the late 19th century. Two blocks from the waterfront, Dogpatch is now the home of San Francisco's Museum of Craft and Design and acclaimed restaurants and bars, including: Michael Ricchuti's Chocolate Lab and Little Nib, highly rated Piccino Cafe, Yield Wine Bar, Serpentine. Notably, Dogpatch is the center of San Francisco's burgeoning craft economy. Coined an 'urban laboratory,' Dogpatch has retained its industrial roots--housing numerous makers, designers, and small manufacturing suites.
