A GREAT WEEK IN NEW ORLEANS111

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful spot - loved the house and the neighborhood. Sadly, Mr. Prell was out of town for most of our visit but he provided us with a great host in John during our stay. We were able to see and learn so much more about New Orleans thanks to his expertise. History, food and conspiracy theories - we enjoyed it all! What else can I say "it's New Orleans"!

My 40th in NOLA, a dream come true!

  • 5 of 5

First, I must begin by thanking Mr. Prell for his incredible hospitality and charm. I have traveled many places on my own and this one really took the cake, birthday cake in this case. Upon my arrival at the home, which was a 30+ hour ride on the Amtrak, I was greeted by Mr Prell, the doggies and Julia, the apartment manager. To this day, I still feel the warmth I felt from them as I walked through their doors. As it was just a few hours to midnight; my birthday, we sat around drinking wine and talking of life experiences, an amazing unexpected welcoming that was worth all these years the wait. I had not even unpacked and I knew I was not going to want to leave.

Now for the home,

This is true New Orleans at its best. The home is so much larger than it seems in the pictures on the website, extremely clean with beautiful high ceilings and incredible wooden floors. Throughout the home there is exquisite photography and art that would rival any museum. The bedroom in the back of the home is large with lovely French doors opening to a peaceful sitting area. The bathrooms are clean and efficient and the second bedroom just as pleasant as the first. The kitchen made for great late night eating of Po’boys and dirty rice. The home has plenty of visitors’ guides, in case you cannot decide what to do; highly unlikely though.

The neighborhood,

Food, food, food, I mean, why else do you go to New Orleans?

The neighborhood is very safe with local bars, small restaurants, and a convenience store not too far away. The streets are lined with beautiful trees and front porches adorned by colorful flowers. The French Quarter is very close. If you are not driving, just call a cab; worth it is you will be indulging in some libations.

You will never go wrong with a visit to New Orleans but make it especially great by staying in this home. It truly is magical. Thank you Mr. Prell, thank you Julia, thank you to the doggies. The memories I have of my stay are still like a reality when close my eyes. Hope to visit again soon. Lots of love.

Old southern home

  • 4 of 5

Spent a few days in New Orleans. It was perfect for two couples. Richard and the dogs were very welcoming and gave us great suggestions for things to do and see. The beds were very comfortable. It could use a few more dishes/cookware/dish towels. It was a great place to come back to the house and relax after a day of sightseeing. The dogs were a joy. Tommy hung out at the house with us every evening. Thank You for your hospitality Richard!

large older home

  • 4 of 5

my husband and me and two of our friends stayed for four nights and five days. I was our first time to New Orleans for all of us and we enjoyed the stay. Richard is fixing up the house, but it does need some cleaning on inside alittle, just a good mop threw and dusting, also needs maybe some more pots and pans and silverware in kitchen and a few more washcloths in bathrooms ( just a few things to run pass Richard ) Richard was very helpful to us and tried his best to help us out . loved the two dogs ,they both are sweet fur babies. loved the high ceiling in the house and all the beautiful pantings on the walls. only have one complaint there was no TV in the one bedroom

Great house, great location

  • 4 of 5

My wife and i stayed here for our anniversary weekend. We loved the area of Bywater, very hip and cool. Very close to the quarter and Frenchman St. Awesome coffee house down the block, make sure to go for breakfast at Satsuma's. House very clean and bed very comfortable. If it's cold outside make sure to bring warm jammies, the house is drafty. Would have rated 5 stars accross the board but house was chilly. Richard was wonderful and attentive! The next time we travel to Nola we will return.

Owner's Response: Lovely people and I thank them for their very kind review. I had a little problem with new thermostat and was not working properly for a bit but was able to fix issue. Old houses in new Orleans can be drafty and I have working gas fire places to supplement the central unit but forgot to point that out to guest but for the most part house can be more than cozy if one wants.
