About this property

A Surf Break - Stunning Coastal Views in Cambria

The sea is calling you in this recently updated Park Hill home, just steps from the beach and Shamel Park.
This home offers stunning panoramic views of whitewater surf on Moonstone Beach, Hearst Ranch and historic Cambria Pines. You’ll never tire of the breathtaking views from the wraparound deck, kitchen, dining, great room and master bedroom. The entire Northwest corner of this house offers these stunning views! You will love the extraordinarily comfortable sectional sofa in the nautical great room, with plenty of seating for everyone. Two comfy chairs sit in the bay window for whale watching (binoculars supplied). The entertainment area is set up for your own music source, a Blu-Ray player, and a flat screen, ‘smart’ TV.
The master bedroom boasts night views of the Piedras Blancas lighthouse beam and sounds of the pounding surf. There is a Cal King bed, and another flat screen TV. The upstairs guest room has two twin beds, with beautiful nautical-themed bedding.
Make your way downstairs to the den and entertainment area, with DVD player and TV. There is a full size sofa which pulls out to a comfy sleeper sofa.
The two additional bedrooms downstairs have queen beds, and are beautifully decorated. One of the bedrooms accesses the garden sitting area. If you enjoy cooking, you will appreciate the well-stocked kitchen (dishes, flatware, gadgets, cooking tools, serving dishes, etc.), enabling you to prepare a delicious and memorable meal for up to 9.
Every one of your guests dining with you will enjoy the same stunning views while sitting at the table. Just outside the dining room you’ll find a charbroil Propane BBQ, gassed up and ready for your meal cooked on the deck.
The home is conveniently located a half mile from the town of Cambria. There you can enjoy wine tasting, great restaurants, and a variety of unique shops.
San Simeon hiking trails, the Fiscalini Ranch bluff trails, kayaking, the Elephant Seal preserve, and extensive Central Coast wine tasting is a short drive away.
If the sea is calling you, and you love to watch the surf break, pelicans dive, whales spout, and gaze at the rolling hills of Hearst Ranch, this is the home for you!
Cambria is a beautiful beach village, anchored by numerous specialty gift shops, fabulous restaurants, and artist galleries. The Pacific Ocean is readily accessible by Moonstone Beach and Fiscalini Ranch, both well known for their walking trails. Cambria is known for its chef-driven restaurants, whose cuisines and menus draw upon local farms. Nestled 10 miles south of San Simeon, visitors often visit Hearst Castle and the Hearst wine tasting room adjacent to San Simeon Bay, where kayaking and fishing is readily available. The beautiful beaches of Cayucos and Morro Bay lie just 20 miles south of Cambria, where one can enjoy deep sea fishing, great restaurants, or visit the iconic Morro Bay rock. Perhaps the biggest draw of Cambria is the famous vineyards available in nearby Paso Robles. Highway 46 is a short 5 miles south of Cambria and leads to Vineyard Drive where one will discover a vast array of excellent central coast wines. Cambria is a warm, hospitable hamlet which is centrally located for a wide range of activities.

Location, location!
Wonderful location if you want the beach within walking distance. Moonstone Beach and Fiscalini preserve easily accessible. The deck was a plus. The kitchen is well equipped. The appliances were new and worked well. There were 6 of us, so the large dining table worked well. The house was smaller than I imagined from the description and photos. The downstairs bedrooms are very small. There are things that could be done to bring the quality of this house up to a 5…the downstairs smelled of mildew. The WiFi worked in the living room, but did not work in the bedrooms. The mattress in the master bedroom was lumpy and tilted. The carpeting in the living room could stand to be replaced…it looks worn and dingy. The bathroom downstairs could use some upgrading. The house served us well enough, but not a 5.

Stellar Ocean Views
The main floor of this rental works really well for crowded get-togethers, lounging, big dinners, tranquil repose or slide shows/movies/game nights. Views from every window but no neighbors looking in. Truly incredible views of the beach and a deck that offers a fantastic place to take in the elements with comfortable furniture. The kitchen was well stocked with great amenities - nice welcome tray of goodies upon arrival. The primary bedroom was incredibly comfortable. The twin bedroom was perfect for teenagers or kiddos, but perhaps not the best option for bigger adults. There were plenty of towels and soaps, extra linens and blankets. Downstairs, there were 2 more bedrooms with queen beds that were bright and cozy at the same time. The second communal space downstairs would serve well for gaming or as a kid-appointed screen room. The futon couch would not be comfortable for an adult to sleep on for more than a night. Under the stairs there were extra fans and beach chairs, thoughtful and generous considerations. The bathroom downstairs was great with exposed wooden beams and a big shower. Our party appreciated the towel racks in the bedrooms, too. The garage was available to park in and the backyard was enormous for Cambria, with beautiful landscaping and great spaces. We all agreed that it would be a perfect choice for a longer stay in the future. It is close to Shamel Park and Main Street, and the sound of the crashing waves was restorative! Thanks, Vera and Jonathon.

Family getaway
What a lovely home to stay in for a family getaway. The huge kitchen is well supplied with anything you need to cook. There is plenty of room for our family of 8 and it felt very homey. We enjoyed walking a block to the beach and Shamel Park with our grandkids to enjoy the spectacular sunsets. Truly a gem!

About the host

Hosted by Vera and Jonathan

Host profile image
Three decades-long friends decided to embark on an adventure of sharing a home with others who love the ocean as much as we do. We worked hard to renovate the entire house in such a way as to welcome guests. We equipped the home with all the amenities we love, including a thoroughly stocked kitchen (utensils, pots, dishes, spices, etc.) and various sitting areas - both inside and out. Everything is new - from beds to flooring, dishes to sheets, BBQ to artwork. The backyard is spectacular - a restful setting to sit and read in the mornings.

Why they chose this property

We bought this home because of the fabulous views and location. You cannot beat the sunsets and the ability to cook and view the ocean at the same time. We have spotted whales and dolphins on a regular basis, and have had deer meander up the street in the early morning. In addition, Cambria's proximity to the incredible Central Coast vineyards was also a huge plus!

What makes this property unique

The unique setting, location, and views moved us to buy this home and share it with others. Enjoy!
