About the property

3 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom Historic Jerome Property with Red Rock Views

Zamar House comfortably accommodates up to seven persons.

Situated on the corner of 5th and Center Streets in Jerome AZ, the Zamar House was built in 1902 during the heyday of the United Verde Mine. A Zamar family member lived in the house continuously until the late 1980's. The house has been extensively restored to reflect its historic integrity and character.

The upstairs level offers one bedroom with a luxurious queen mattress and bedding, a sleeping porch with a twin daybed and bedding, a bathroom with full size shower, full gourmet kitchen, living room and dining room. The upstairs also includes a Smart TV with Satellite Cable. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, dinnerware, pots, pans and drinkware. There is a coffee maker with an assortment of coffees and teas provided. There is also a Dualit toaster. The refrigerator has ice and filtered water. It has independently controlled central heating and A/C.

The lower level consists of two bedrooms, each with a private bath, luxurious queen mattress and bedding, and private outside entrance. There is also a general entrance to the lower level into a parlor room with access through sliding pocket doors to an activity room. There is a full capacity state-of-the-art washer and dryer in one bathroom. The other bathroom offers a relaxing clawfoot tub. Both lower level bathrooms have full size showers. All bathrooms are stocked with linens. The lower level also contains a SmartTV, Satellite Cable, and has independently controlled central heating and A/C.

The upper and lower level offer amazing views of the Red Rocks of Sedona and the Verde Valley below from the wrap-around porches and many vantage points throughout the property.

The Zamar House has on-site parking off Center Street with room for two cars. Stairs from the property's parking area provide direct access to the grounds and all entrances to the house. The property is spacious and designed for privacy with unparalleled views from many vantage points. It is situated within walking distance via Center Street, one of the most level streets in Jerome, to the shops, restaurants, bars, and tasting rooms. The Zamar House is centrally located for day trips and access to Prescott, Cottonwood, Sedona, Page Springs vineyards, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, Tuzigoot, Montezuma's Well and Montezuma's Castle and so much more.

The beauty, comfort, and privacy of this extraordinary property will make it difficult to leave.

"I don't really want to share this gem..."

But must compliment the owners for a fabulous property. My gal pals and I stayed in this home and we could not have been happier. The only problem was that we had too many activities planned. All I wanted to do was stare at the vistas and hang out on the balconies. The folks who met us as we barreled up the hill could not have been nicer!

We all loved the place, and it was cozy, clean, spacious, quirky, classy and more. The owners are very generous folks. Thanks again!

Such a beautiful place! Room for everyone..we came up for the Halloween "spirit," which happens to also be our wedding anniversary weekend. This was our first stay here, but not our last! Such a gorgeous, comfy, clean, eye-popping place to stay. Having two designated parking spots was a definite plus, as not all places have this. There was a porch out every door with a different, pretty view. So nice to sink into a beautiful claw foot tub in a spa-like bathroom downstairs with a glass of wine was priceless after a long day walking this fun, friendly town. Highly recommend this wonderful getaway!

Awesome weekend!

Zamar house was awesome. It is so adorable, neat, and clean. The views from the deck are amazing, can see the whole redrock valley to the San Francisco peaks in Flagstaff. It is on a very steep street, with lots of stairs, so if you have physical limitations, could be tricky, but if not, go for it. We were a group of five and there was plenty of room for all of us. Three baths, one even had a claw foot tub that provided a relaxing bubble bath! The house had all the things we needed from pots and pans to spices, tv, and appliances were all very updated, except no microwave. Would suggest checking in before dark, glad we did, just to figure out the area before the sun sets. Access to the area sights was easy to drive to. I would highly recommend this property and Gretchen was wonderful to work with. Thanks for a Great weekend, Jerome!

Completely Charming

  • 5 of 5

Our family was completely amazed at this house, and also for the town of Jerome. This little community is a quaint. With the population number of permanent residents ranging from 300-400, the locals much cater to tourists and preserve the copious amount of history, of which they are very proud. This amazing home captures exactly that ambiance. Over 114 years old, this house has all the Victorian charm you could expect. Much care and detail has been taken to elevate the feeling of opulent living of the early 1900s in it's décor concurrently with modern-day amenities in a very well-kept, clean home. We found ourselves staying indoors for an evening just to enjoy this place and it's views. Yes, it is true that the roads...well "historic" is euphemistic verbiage for "beat up". Furthermore, so is the whole town! Jerome is literally built on a cliff and it's residents are expected to provide independent upkeep of the roads. So with that being said, I would say even this aspect adds to the charm of this place, and at least you have your own private parking lot there that is level so you are not parked on a steep incline like many other cars there. We look forward to our next stay at the Zamar House and to visiting Jerome. Be sure to check out the Haunted History Tour and visit with the friendly locals and you will truly enjoy your stay.

We were very excited for our stay at Zamar House - not only did it not disappoint, but it exceeded our expectations. The house is incredibly comfortable and decorated in an eclectic style. Everything we needed was included. I must mention the beds - the mattresses were fantastic! We have rented 7 different properties in Jerome over the years and this is far and away our favorite. We will return and highly recommend this property for anyone looking to explore beautiful Jerome.

Good.....

The house itself is very nice once we were able to find it. The road is not paved well, and very narrow, so we had loop around a second time to locate parking. Luckily rhe parking pad is spacious and flat. Ther are a lot of stairs, so do not stay here is you have any physical ailments. There are four bedrooms, two upstairs and two downstairs, but are not connected except by an outdoor staircase. This is fine if you are staying with a group of adults, but if you have a bunch of kids and want to all be together, this house would not be ideal for that situation. One of the upstairs bedrooms only had a single bed, and little temperature regulation....could have been an old porch that was closed in at some point. The town is not far away, but there isnt really a great way to walk there, especially at night as the sidewalks are not consistent, and the road is windy. Our only other complaint was that the keys to enter the home were not in the spot they were stated they would be....we had to contact the owner when we arrived to find them.....this info would have been nice to be communicated before our arrival to avoid concern and confusion.

Overall we were happy with our stay, and the house worked ok for our family with two small children......but can see how it wouldnt work for many others.

Owner's Response: Dear Brianne, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I apologize for the confusion about the key location - as I told you when you arrived - albeit early and without obtaining permission for an early check-in - our contractor had been working on a new gate installation and had inadvertently put the keys in a different location about 5 feet from where you were instructed they were located in the email I sent you prior to arrival. I do believe the key location issue was handled promptly and did not cause any inconvenience. With regard to the streets of Jerome and the stairs and other "quirks" of our property - Jerome is an old mining town and the house was built in 1902. These are characteristics you will find throughout the wonderful community of Jerome and are part of her charm. Most travelers to the town come to experience the these historic, funky, and unique characteristics. As for the makeup of the property - we are very clear about the sleeping porch with the twin bed located upstairs not having central heating/cooling in our listing as well as external access between the two levels. I do understand how our property may not be suitable for families with small children, however we have had many families with children of all ages find the property a wonderful place to stay. All best to you! -Gretchen
