A delightful quirky beachside cottage unlike anything you have stayed in before. Built with recycled materials, filled with an eclectic array of antiques, collectibles and artwork and surrounded by a beautiful rose garden and a large green verge, Ponder Cottage is itself a work of art.
You will cook in a new kitchen with all sorts of appliances, sleep in King and Queen sized beds with gorgeous linen in air-conditioned rooms with fans for extra comfort. A divine en-suite in the master bedroom and a shower recess for the second bedroom will exceed all your requirements. And if you have a few additional guests they can sleep on one of our huge lounges in almost as much comfort.
And if you are in the mood to entertain the sunroom with an additional kitchenette and bar, massive TV and sound system will have the party swinging.
A 2 minute walk to the perfect Shoalwater Bay, a unique shallow water archipelago full of small islands and marine park providing haven to dolphins, sea lions, Australia’s northern most fairy penguin colony and of course Mr Ponder, the pelican after which our cottage is named; our jewel of a beach is calm and without surf making swimming and diving a most enjoyable experience. Ride a bike or walk the beach to Point Peron, a world class marine environment with a fascinating military history, take the ferry to Penguin Island, hire a paddle board or a kayak, kite or wind surf at the world famous Pond, fish from the beach or just take in the stunning sunsets from our verandah – the possibilities are endless. Oh! And for those less aquatic there are a couple of golf courses and a craft brewery just a short ride away.
A local bus at the front door will take you into old Rockingham to dine in the many beachside restaurants and cafes before arriving at the train station for a 25 minute ride to Perth our capital city. A bus to the historic port city of Fremantle also leaves from the Station and you can rent bicycles if you wish making the car obsolete during your stay. If you want to venture further the train will take you to the historic Swan valley our local wine region. You can even travel all the way on public transport to both Domestic and International Airports from outside our door for a mere $12 or so.
Come to our beautiful bayside village and stay in our beautiful home – if you do you will be back that’s for sure!
