Direct Ocean Front Maui 'Hale' with Luxury View

Overview

Property Details

Updated: Jul 14, 2016
New Owners,Newly Renovated,Quiet Dead End Street,Private Beach, Amazing Sunrises

We consider our Condo in Maalaea as our 'Hale' in Paradise. It sits directly in front of the blue Ocean with a small private beach and tide pools to explore. Often you will find yourself sunbathing with a 'Honu' (Turtle) right next to you.

From the Lanai you can watch the Whales put on an incredible show during the months of December through April. Maalaea Bay is a Sanctuary to the Humpback Whales.

The Sunrises coming up over Haleakala are spectacular, every morning it is a different array of dramatic colors. You have no obstructions to block the incredible view of the Ocean and the long stretch of Sugar Beach.

One of the best aspects is that it is centrally located to all that Maui has to offer.

The bedroom is nicely appointed with an appealing tropical flair with a large closet. There is a louvered glass window which allows a nice breeze that aids in a restful sleep. The couch folds out into a comfortable queen size bed.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you should need to make your stay feel like home. It has been recently updated with a new Stove, Microwave and Dishwasher, Corian Counter tops and new Cabinets. The refrigerator also has a ice maker. The stacked washer and dryer is located behind the louvered wood door in the kitchen.

The bathroom has also been updated with a tiled walk-in shower with a glass block wall, Corian Counter tops and it has a wall mounted hair dryer. There is face and hand soap in the cabinet above the sink.

There is a Flat Screen TV, DVD, free WiFi, VCR, CD Player, Telephone and Broadband Access. We have attached a HDMI cable to the TV so you can hookup your laptop or other device enabling the ability to stream Movies, TV shows and view Photos taken of your Maui adventures.

The beach towels and chairs, beach tote and cooler along with bed linens, bath towels, kitchen towels, hot mits, broom, vacuum, laundry detergent, fabric softener, misc cleaning supplies and light bulbs are all located in the glass door closet in the hallway.

The cane couch has a dark floral print with end tables that have small ottomans tucked underneath you can pull out after a long day of sightseeing or a strenuous adventure. Along with the matching cane furniture the wall decorations and prints completes the tropical feeling of the Islands. There are new tile floors through out the Condo.

There is a fenced in Pool and Hot Tub along side an Outdoor Grill. Lots of lounge chairs are located on the lawn. There are also tables and chairs for dining and relaxing with a beverage. A outdoor shower is there to rinse off before entering the pool and to rinse off the sand for those who choose to hang out on the beach located right out in front of the Condo.

The Lobby too has the feel of the Islands and when you walk in you are welcomed with the relaxing sound of the waterfall feature. There is a parking lot directly out front of the Lobby with large fragrant Plumeria Trees.

About the Owner

Our first visit to Maui together to look at Maalaea Banyans, was my husband’s first visit to this wonderful Island. I lived and worked on Maui many years ago and fell in love with the diversity and beauty.

I was raised in Kailua, Oahu and have always carried the spirit of Aloha with me where ever I go. The Island life is like no other. We visit Oahu every other year for Christmas to visit friends and family.

For the past 3 years we have lived in Port Orchard on the Olympic Peninsula. Before this we lived on the Ocean in a small Ocean Front Community called Seaview Estates for 8 years. Both locations are located in the State of Washington.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an epic month in Maalaea, Maui, staying here in February. I can't say enough about our enjoyment of this unit, and the caring and ready availability of the owners, Cheryl & Jim.

It was clean, quiet, and ideally situated for fun activities and conveniences. The decor was island comfortable, and the scene from the lanai was unsurpassed. The condo had all comfort and conveniences, including washer/dryer, which was so helpful for our longer stay.Plenty of hooks for "stuff", all beach items, including binoculars for sighting whales, right there for use.

The kitchen was very well stocked with everything anyone could want/need, as well as on site grills. We cooked many delicious meals there, dining on the lovely lanai morning and night.

The wi fi was great More to add (computer jumping around...)

Wi fi great, very relaxing for everything. My husband enjoyed the cable access for all the college b'ball on the mainland.

the pool is nice and "right sized" as is the hot tub. We so enjoyed sighting the whales, and the honu on the beach, as well as the regular Honu who arrived on the beach regularly every day. We loved seeing him!

It was wonderful to be able to walk to town to the local restaurants and whale watching, and walk the beach every day. The beach by the park (Haycraft) was lovely and almost at times felt like our very own; not too many people; just enough to say "hi" and "good morning".

All in all, one of the best of many trips we have been on. We have been to Maalaea before, but this was the best! We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else, now!

Beautiful ocean front views!

  • 4 of 5

Perfect beach front location with turtles on the water every night! Everything in the condo was clean and well kept, and included everything you may possibly need (towels, shampoo, beach essentials such as cooler, sunblock, umbrella, chairs, boogie boards..). It was very windy, so the nice breeze made it nice and cool. We rarely used the AC. The beach view was gorgeous and was the best part! Definitely would recommend and would definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Love the Trades that flow through the Condo. We, too, do not use the air conditioner. I remember the day we walked through the door and looked out at the view, that was it, we found our Maui Hale. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. "Our Hale is your Hale" Mahalo.....Cheryl

Comfortable and great location!!

  • 4 of 5

Thank you so much, Jim and Cheryl, for a wonderful stay at your condo. We appreciated so much the communication that we had with you before and during our stay.

The best thing was the view from your balcony!! The grounds below were well-kept, and the view of the bay and Haleakala was stunning. Each day we watched the sea turtles below around the rocks, and fishing boats, catamarans, sailboats, swimmers and snorkelers in the bay. Also liked the view of two islands (hubby with his binoculars thought that was a plus!)

Your condo had everything we needed, plus a few extras! Wifi signal was strong, and we appreciated that as we posted pics and explored things to do on Maui on the Internet.

We enjoyed the Marina, restaurants and small shops all within walking distance.

Thanks again for sharing your "welcoming" hale.

FANTASTIC!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was excellent ~ just as advertised! This was our second time booking this particular condo, and we came back because it was so great. Very convenient to not have to worry about bringing shampoo/conditioner, blow dryer, soap, toilet paper ,etc., from home. Using the door lock code is so much better than trying to keep track of a key. Owners provided very thorough maps and washing machine info and wifi instructions and where the grocery stores were - everything we needed to know. The unit was really clean; the location is perfect - love going to sleep listening to the ocean. I would highly recommend this unit and if I'm ever in Maui again, I know where I'll be staying. . .

Owner's Response: Mahalo nui loa.....We are so happy that your stay is now a wonderful memory. We are so pleased when our Guests find our Hale and the location special. Away from the big resort areas but close enough to visit, then return to just the sound of the Ocean and a relaxing Aloha feeling of a small Maui village. We try to make your stay as comfortable and stress free as possible.

It was perfect for a quiet getaway

  • 4 of 5

The view was unsurpassable, the grounds we're perfectly manicured. The beach although small was never really crowded, except perhaps to view the turtles every night.

Perfect spot for rest and relaxation...saw whales every day,

  • 4 of 5

Maalaea Banyons was the perfect spot for us. It was quiet both from a noise perspective and busyness. Everything is quite close... 15 min. or so to Kahalui and less to Kihei but it was like a peaceful oasis when you returned. You could walk to a few. Restaurants and shops at the harbour which we did. We also took a whale watching cruise run by the Whale Foundation out of the harbour. Went on the Road to Hana tour and they picked us up right in front of the building.

Condo was clean and well equipped for vacation rental. It was not luxury but comfortable. Owners were helpful and approachable.

We saw whales out front every day...almost any time you really looked. Sea turtles were feeding by the shore almost constantly.

I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Owner's Response: Mahalo.....I am so happy and it seems the Whales were too, that you enjoyed your stay at our Maui Hale. This is a special time on Maui with the Whales returning to calf. We are fortunate to have a front row seat to watch the Whales playing and breaching in the bay. The Honu love our little reef that extends out from of our beach where they munch contently on the algae. You are always welcome...."Our Hale is your Hale" Living Aloha......Cheryl

Our Hale

  • 4 of 5

Jim & Cheryl,

Aloha!!!

We enjoyed our Maui Christmas! We will definitely stay again and recommend this property to anyone going to Maui. We really enjoyed the exclusivity of the beach and property. The owners were accommodating, welcoming, and answered all of my questions. We are a balance of lounge on the beach people as well as explore! The location is perfectly located in the middle of everywhere we wanted to be. The size was perfect for our family of 3, we had breakfast on the lanai every morning, and dinner in the evening if we weren’t out. The Hale had everything we needed. We could not find the sheets for the pullout but we made it work for our teen. We are going to try to spend every Christmas in Hawaii and when you come back to Maui this will be our 1st choice 😀

Mahalo!

Owner's Response: So happy you enjoyed Christmas Island Style....very different then the Mainland. I am sorry you couldn't find the sheets, they should have been in the bedroom chest drawers. Very often our Guests will move things around to fit their comfort level. We would love to have you as Guest again! Living Aloha....Cheryl

From the Owner

We decided that we wanted to spend more time on the Islands, although Kailua will always be in our hearts, I prefer the quiet, laid back feel of Maalaea that reminds us of Kailua of old.

For the soul soothing beach strolls, you just have a 2 minute walk down Hauoli St., our quiet dead end street and you are at Sugar Beach. You could walk all the way to Kihei on this beautiful, long, unspoiled stretch of beach. On one side you have the ocean and on the other side is the Kealia Wildlife Refuge and Pond.

The Maalaea Harbor is where you can find both Award Winning Restaurants and low keyed cafes, there are shops, boating activities of all kinds, the General Store and Deli and the famous Maui Ocean Center and Aquarium. Best of all it is a short walk there from the Condo.

The drive to and from the Kahului Airport is only about 12 minutes.

The Maalaea area has the feeling of Aloha, far from the busy and crowded areas but centrally located so you can visit those areas, just a 20 minute drive North to Lahaina/Kaanapali and a 20 minute drive South to Makena/Wailea.

After a busy day of sightseeing and Island adventures you will return to your quiet and peaceful home away from home. Then when you have a good nights sleep with the help of the breeze and the sound of the ocean flowing through the Condo you will wake up to the beauty of the sunrise above Haleakala.

Amenities

From the Owner

As soon as we walked through the door I knew I was home. It had a feeling of familiarity and Aloha. The view of the Ocean as we walked down the hallway was striking. We are use to Island sunrises in Kailua but the sunrise over Haleakala is incredible, lighting up the sky with a multitude of colors. Simply breathtaking. We like the location with just a two minute walk to Sugar Beach for our morning stroll and in the other direction just a short walk to shops, restaurants and the Maui Ocean Center. Love all the different plants and trees that surround the Condo and the fact that they are very well maintained, so beautiful. The Condo is located on a dead end street so it is very quiet and relaxing. The surrounding area is secluded with very little traffic of either vehicle or people. Very unlike the busy large Vacation Resorts and their surrounding areas, but it is just a 20 minute drive if you want to experience and enjoy the hustle and bustle. All along knowing you are going to return to peace and quiet.
