Great mountain house
My family and I had a great time at Mountain Pond House. The house was very clean and well maintained. The property is beautiful with two ponds and a stream across the street. I couldn’t tear my boys away from fishing. They caught countless big bass and bluegill. Even my 2yo was catching fish. They told me how much they are looking forward to coming back next year. From Luray Caverns to Natural Bridge to the drive through Safari there’s more than enough to do. Overall a very relaxing and fun vacation. Thank you!
Wonderful house, beautiful setting
My kids and I had a wonderful stay at the Mountain Pond House. It’s beautiful and peaceful and the house itself was clean and very well equipped. Only sorry that we didn’t have a longer stay planned.
The Mountain Pond House
What a wonderful treasure this place is. We had a wonderful time and were truly sad to leave. Everything about this place is excellent and WELL worth the price of admission! No detail was missed and made the stay a memorable one. Very secluded and private. Fishing off the front deck was so much fun as well paddling around in the boat. We were torn between sightseeing in the area or just hanging out on the front porch. Beds are soft, furnishings are comfy, kitchen is well stocked with equipment, very clean and the views are lovely. Can't say enough good about this place. Hope to return very soon. Thanks Andy and Debbie for sharing this treasure and for taking such excellent care of everything.
Peaceful getaway, a new annual tradition
It was a little tricky finding the actual cabin as Google Maps took us to the house right next door, but once I spoke with the owner, we were fine. Note: Look for a sign that says "Mountain Pond House", a little easy to miss because the address 2931 isn't listed on the road, so that sign is a must find.
With all that behind us, we arrived at exactly what was advertised. Except more.
As soon as we walked in, we knew this was a place well cared for by the owners, and blessed. My wife commented, "it's clean! I can relax!".
They really did think of everything. We picked up crab legs from the Kroger out in Lexington, and upon arriving home, we discovered they even thought of providing crab crackers! Which in case you don't know, are the gizmos which allow you to crack open crab legs--without them, it's just way more difficult. Not quite a common household item, so the fact that they had one just goes to show the level of thoughtfulness to make sure you are comfortable off the beaten path. I almost dare you to find something they are missing!
Cell reception was just enough to make us comfortable in case we needed it.
They provided a small row boat for trolling around the pond as well.
A short walk up the hill and there is a fire pit that you can grill over, or just enjoy, as well as a picnic table and loads and loads of PEACE.
A truly wonderful getaway that has earned a place in a hearts, and our yearly vacation budget.
Fishing of the deck is fun for everyone
We love being able to walk out the door, start fishing, and catch trophy fish. The property is very peaceful and quiet and will give you all you want of nature, but is not far from Lexington or Staunton. We've stayed twice with our friends and the owners have been very nice and accommodating. It's just a great place to relax, hang out, and fish.
Thank you for the time to write these kind words. We enjoyed have you all visit with us and hope to see you again soon.

Beautiful location for a relaxing vacation
Mountain Pond House is a wonderful home in rural western Virginia. While it sits on Andy and Debbie's beautiful farm, it is very private and well away from their house. The guest house sits at the end of a large farm pond. We spent hours just sitting on the covered deck, reading and watching the birds (including a Great Blue Heron). The silence was amazing! Lots of room to walk on the property. The kitchen is well-stocked and the main bedroom is comfortable. Cable TV and lots of games, but no Internet and (for AT&T, at least) no cell service. You real feel unplugged. Goshen Pass is about 20 minutes away--nice hiking trails and a pretty river. Lexington and the Warm Springs/Hot Springs area are a longer drive but worth it. The mountain pond house is the perfect place to get away from it all.
