Guided tours and experiences
My favorite part of it all and reason for choosing this exquisite location to spend my vacations; you'll experience the warmth of the Quindian people, culture and delights in a quaint peaceful town in the middle of it all: La Tebiada. A pleasant short walk will lead you to great selections of dining, nightlife (discos, bars, live music) , indoor/outdoor markets, village square park, and cafes (serving the freshest and best home grown you've ever had:). It's hard to put into words, it's more of a love of life feeling I get when I'm here and I hope you'll get the chance to experience it as well. La Tebaida has been rated #1 as for best climate in Quindo with a year round average temperature of 73F.
Here are a few of my favorite activities but see my guest travel guidebook for all recommendations and distances.
Being an outdoorsman, La Tebaida, known for it's pleasant jogging/biking routes and hiking trails through the vibrant green coffee plantations is always a great morning activity.
Mountaineering in the higher slopes of the Andes is another thrilling activity. If snow fields appeal to you then proceed to El Nevado de Ruiz with its three volcanic peaks is a formidable attraction. The scenery of these snowfields at 5000 meters is absolutely stunning.
Make a tour to the 'natural thermal hotsprings of Santa Rosa de Cabal'. The numerous waterfalls illuminated by multi-colored lights is a visual treat in the evenings.
Salento: This another great stop to explore nature at its finest, whether it’s by horseback along the the Quindío River, by foot along dozens of mountain paths, or by Willy jeep to the gorgeous Cocora Valley. Don’t forget to snap a photo of the national tree, the Palma de Cera, which is a very tall and thin palm tree native to this area of the country. And, of course, your trip to Salento is not complete without “trucha con patacón” (trout with a very thin plantain pancake).
Visit major attraction amusement park in the likes of Disneyland, El Parque del Café, for understanding the entire process of making coffee from pods to powder.
At Santagueda savor their local old rum or non-matured brandy while basking in the warmth of the place.
WARNING: These wonderful visuals in these videos of the beauty of the Zona Cafetera region in Colombia are amazing and will tempt you to visit this region personally:) It is one of the most naturally beautiful regions of South America.
