Spacious 5 BR Mountain Home For Large Families Or Groups

Property Details

Updated: Oct 23, 2016
Family-friendly house comfortably sleeps 14

Located in the Big Trees area, this Arnold/Dorrington house comfortably sleeps 14. There are 4 downstairs bedrooms, all with a queen bed (rooms are all equal sized) plus a 5th bedroom in the loft with 2 queen beds and 2 twins (bunk bed style). Stocked with fun games (upstairs loft area with Ping Pong, Air Hockey and Foosball) for the kids and a large common area downstairs, you can host a large group without feeling cramped. In the winter, this is the closest stop to Bear Valley and in the summer, you're minutes away from the Stanislaus River and Big Trees State Park and a short drive to Murphys (wine tasting, caving and more). We have a welcome book at the cabin highlighting activities in the area, as well as some fun ideas for in the cabin. Hope you enjoy your stay! (For families, this house has been 'baby-proofed' with safety gates, high chairs (x2), toys and pack-n-play (x2) available).

Awesome stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in the Alpine Mountain Lodge. It was nice and clean and well stocked. There were a lots of toys for kids to play, lots of story books, lego, etc, which kept them well occupied. Adults also had lots of games to play (table tennis, foosball, UNO, card games etc), that we hardly stepped out of the vacation rental while we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Even the smallest details were nicely labelled, which we found very helpful. And I find this rental very reasonably priced. We hope to be back soon!

Spacious and comfortable house in beautiful vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the cabin with 3 generations of family members. The upstairs was great for the kids. Numerous ping pong tournaments. Loved the way the cabin was decorated - a name for each room. We used the outdoor grill quite a bit.

Great for Families!

  • 5 of 5

We had 2 families stay with us over the weekend with each of us having a child under 2. The house was welcoming and easy to setup/exit. There were kids toys available and the rooms had plenty of space - we didn't feel cramped at all. Would definitely go again!

Big house with room for kids and adults

  • 3 of 5

Stay at the house for 4 nights at the suggested sleeping capacity. It was the middle of summer. The house and living area was big enough for all of us and it didn't seem too cramped.

The Pluses: Spacious kitchen - we brought all of our food and drinks for 4 days and had space to store it. Huge counters for serving group meals. Nice open living area. The kids had a great time with the toys in the play room. Good launching point for day trips to lake, rivers and the mountains. Plenty of parking for 4+ vehicles. Nice deck with BBQ, patio table and hammock. There were two growlers at the house that we used to get beer from the local brewery - great beer!

The Minuses: One of the bunk beds was broken and not usable when we got there. One of the kids slept on the couch in the loft. It had a sign on it saying do not use. The plumbing needed some work. Toilet were slow to flush and one got clogged. Called the owner and he said that he was trying to get his usual guy, but he was not available. No one ever came out and we had to fix it ourselves. We were there in the summer and it was super hot. The house did not have AC and it did not cool down well at night. Sleeping in the heat was tough.

A really clean, nice welcoming house

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house. We had a multi-generation family reunion (incl. my 85 year old mom and 2 yr old nephew) and this house was perfect Spacious, clean, welcoming with a big kitchen and terrific deck. We had lots of great food and laughs around the big dining room table. The small children loved the toys and all the rest of kids (at heart) enjoyed playing air hockey and ping pong. Owner was very easy to work with. Terrific location as well.

From the Owner

We love the layout of this house, although we spend most of the time on the back deck in the summer. While it's right off the highway, it feels secluded (and there's no road noise) and provides a great spot close to skiing, Stanislaus River and all kinds of activities
