Overview

Property Details

Updated: Jul 16, 2016
Cozy, centrally located, and easy access to public transportation

Note: If you have a group of 3 or more people you may want to check my other listing (#559766) located in the same building on the top floor. This is a 2 bdrm -2 lofts apartment with four queen beds that can accommodate 4 to 8 people more comfortably.

Property Address: 2423 NW 64th St. Seattle, WA 98107 (Ballard Neighborhood)

Our cozy Ballard mother-in-law apartment is conveniently located a half mile from the Ballard downtown core yet; is far enough removed that you can enjoy a peaceful night sleep in our quiet, safe and friendly neighborhood.

Many of my guests leave their car parked at home to avoid the hustle of finding parking or having to pay for it, they simply walk down on 24th Ave to Market St. Just 5 short blocks away are two of my favorite bakeries, Café Besalu and next door, Tall Grass Bakery. They make artisan breads and pastries, the best in town. There are other small businesses on 24th like Olaf’s a nice pub literally around the corner. A hamburger joint Scooter’s and a nice big grocery store (QFC) with free underground parking for getting your groceries. My guests have also told me they enjoyed and appreciated very much the convenience of grabbing bus #40 at the street corner and riding to downtown Seattle.

The apartment was recently renovated. Located in the first floor of our property (not a basement) it has easy access with only three steps from street level. Here you will find all the standard amenities that you would normally find in a hotel wireless internet, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, computer desk, coffee maker, toaster and microwave.

Other amenities include:

- Private, independent entrance with a keyless electronic door lock.

- Well-lit entrance with sensor lights for late arrivals.

- The unit comes with its own off-street parking (first one to the left). There is free street parking on our block also.

- King bed with high quality mattress, Simmons Beautyrest, truly fit for a king

- 25 mbp high speed, private network internet cable with fast, latest technology Wi-Fi router.

- 40' internet connected smart apps TV with Netflix included.

- Full size refrigerator, gas cook-top, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster.

- Kitchen stocked with pots and pans and set of silverware for four.

- Bathroom with toilet, sink and shower.

- Free use of our home gym included.

- Free use of our bikes to go explore the area.

- Access to private backyard with table and chairs (just behind French doors in picture).

- 10% Discount for returning guests

The Neighborhood.

Ballard was a city of its own in the past founded when cars didn't exist. It was later absorbed by its bigger sister city Seattle. For this reason, it can still feel like a small town retaining its downtown, working waterfront and old businesses open to date. Many warehouses and storefronts though, have been converted to tasty new restaurants, like my favorite Mexican, La Carta de Oxaca on Ballard ave.

Public Transportation.

Seattle is a city with a solid public transportation when it comes to buses.

We are located less than half a block from the bus stop. You can take routes #18 and #40 at our block corner of 24th and 64th; both will take you to downtown Seattle. Route #40 also goes to the Northgate Mall in its northbound route. Route #44 on Market Street will take you to UW.

If you have a smart phone you can use Google maps and chose the public transportation option when planning your route. You may also find very useful the OneBusAway App with real time transit information, timetables and route planing. This App was first develop here at home at the UW and it is now in use all over the US and abroad.

About the Owner

Originally from Cuba I have lived for over 19 years in the Seattle area. My wife and I enjoy meeting new people, traveling and learning about different cultures. I enjoy tasting food from different parts of the world, which makes Ballard particularly a good place for its many restaurants.

Excellent stay and perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of this property on-line look great...however they do not do this studio justice! The studio is spotless, beautiful and perfectly outfitted for a stay.

The location is walking distance to excellent coffee shops, grocery and dining.

If you like to walk for exercise, you will be in heaven. The sights 'just over the hill' are amazing.

I can not say enough good things about this place. My only issue with it is that it is booked all the time!!!!

Thank you for the great stay!

Fantastic, of course!

  • 5 of 5

The Property is exactly as advertised, and, as reviewed. We stayed in the lower section, as there was only my wife and Me.

As we were entering, the neighbor forewarned us that the owners were "clean freaks", something that was good to hear.

If we were to travel to Seattle again, we would be sure to stay here again.!!! That sez it all.

If you are seeking an economical stay, this is the place. However, (and I'll take the lack of question as my fault,) Be sure you ask about every charge for the rental. I understand the sales tax. The admin fee (about 20 bucks), was no big deal, then a cleaning fee of $40.

So, my 2 day stay was about $60 more that I expected. STILL CHEAPER THAN STAYING ANYWHERE ELSE IN SEATTLE.

I would recommend this property to anyone.! Very Clean. Nice quiet neighborhood! Walking Distance to several good restaurants.

The owner was prompt in responding to questions.

Uber charged under $9.00 to take us to Pike Place Market, non stop in only 15 Minutes. Try that on a bus!!

A Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our recent visit to Ballard and our stay at this VRBO location. This apartment was decorated so nicely and the accommodations were very comfortable. The location is idea~ close to many cafes, a market and the bus stops. We hope to stay here again on our next trip to the Seattle area. Thank you Mario!

Very clean in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for a wedding and rented both suites in the house. Our adult children stayed upstairs and my wife and I were downstairs. It worked perfectly for us. The house is in a great location. Easy walk to the locks and the restaurants and Farmers Market in downtown Ballard. The house was spotless and well equipped. Thanks for a great stay! We will be back.

Ballard Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this Ballard gem for 11 nights. Whenever we travel, we stay at VRBO properties. I have to say that this was one of our favorites. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and convenient. Some of the best things about it were the electric fireplace, the comfortable king-size bed, the water pressure in the shower, and the back yard which really seemed to open up the place. We also enjoyed the bikes, the barbecue grill, the quiet street, and the convenience to the downtown Ballard area. The apartment is walking distance to a grocery store, many Ballard restaurants (try Stoneburner), the Ballard Locks, and more. We rode bikes to Golden Garden's Park as well as Gas Works Park/Fremont. Lastly, we appreciated the friendliness of both Mario and Monica. Oh...and the washer and dryer were really nice to have access to as well as the home gym.

A perfect match to our needs!

  • 5 of 5

Add us to the long list of guests who have already complimented this property's layout, cleanliness and comforts, and its friendly and responsive owner. As our two-week stay unfolded, we could really appreciate the thought that went into making this place totally user friendly. It was like the owner imagined all the situations a guest would have and installed the exact fixtures and amenities, in accessible locations, that the guest would need for those situations. Good quality, things, too. The flat screen television is on a moveable mount that lets you change viewing angles. We especially liked the ceiling unit in the bathroom that vented the shower, and photographed it so we could get the same one for our own home. (It had an optional heat control that was immediate in delivering warmth.) Lighting throughout the apartment was exceptional: lamps on BOTH sides of the bed, a neat little lamp for the alcove desk, an arty but effective hanging lamp over the kitchen table, other lighting in the two end walls, plenty of light in the kitchen area, alcove area and bathroom. There were numerous electrical outlets, handy to get at; good WiFi, and a nice patio in a garden setting, just outside the back door. In short, everything this apartment is listed as having it does, and all the things work, all are good quality and all are user friendly. We never felt closed in and we really liked the single but large and uncluttered main living space. And, with that alcove, a hallway closet and well-situated shelves and cupboards, we had more than enough space to stow things and stay organized. We followed several of owner Mario's recommendations for eats and activities, used the internet to search for other good bets, consulted maps and brochures from the drawers of the alcove desk and followed tips from friendly locals. The #40 bus, which has a stop about a minute's walk up the street, is your ticket to many destinations. It goes to Downtown Seattle, but on the way it stops in the middle of Ballard's business district, and you can exit the #40 and hop onto other buses to get to other parts of Seattle. It's less than one mile to walk from this property to the middle of Ballard's business district or to walk to the locks. We highly recommend the locks. A great place to eat convenient to the locks is the Kiss Café. And we agree with Mario that Olaf's is a really fun pub. That's two blocks away.

I bought this house because I found myself coming to Ballard again and again following tips from friends of restaurants, bakeries, pubs and for outdoor activities. Also because the neighborhood is safe, clean and surrounded by good schools that will make raising a family here easier.
