About the Owner

We have 3 little kids. 2 Girls and 1 boy. We live in Las Vegas but love to get up into the mountains and slow things down. Our kids love playing in forest and enjoying the outdoors. We are a laid back family and want people to enjoy our cabin when we are not using it.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to write to tell you what a lovely time we had staying in your beautiful cabin.

It was so much more than we expected. Everything was very organized and there for our convenience which we greatly appreciated. It was clean and comfortable. We had a fabulous time in the hot tub and enjoyed the cosy warmth of the fire afterwards.

We could tell that you had put a lot of time and effort into making your cabin so inviting and atmospheric.

We look forward to coming back again another time.

Thank you for making our trip so memorable,

Tiny and outdated

  • 2 of 5

If your intent is simply to have a place to crash between ski runs, this will suffice. However, if you plan on spending more than a few hours here, you'll think you're living in Lilliput.

In wintertime, the entrance is extremely icy and dangerous (I sprained my wrist falling on the slick ice outside). The house itself is tiny and in serious need of a refresh. The kitchen is so small that there isn't even room for a chopping board to prepare food (there wasn't one, so perhaps this was moot). The heating system is loud and keeps one up through the night (the small personal heaters are insufficient). It is in serious need of renovation and extension.

I appreciate the hosts' candor and help when queried about the lack of firewood. However, the overall stay was just too cramped; we therefore left a day early.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry to read such a poor review. Space: I would suggest one rent a larger cabin if they want a lot of space. Thank you for the suggestion but we do not desire to expand. Kitchen: There are two pull out cutting boards above drawers and another next to pots. Heater: There is now a brand new heater. Outdated: This is a cabin in the woods for a relaxing get-away which has received continued positive reviews.

Nice cabin, good location

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was small, but perfect for our needs. It is located on an east facing slope which meant that despite the warm temperatures before our trip, there was still a lot of snow at the cabin. We enjoyed getting to hot tub in the snow and sled in a ravine area across the street from the cabin.

Very cozy, very beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We loved it as soon as we saw it. It's not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the city, but kind of hidden, giving it a cozy feeling and a sense of privacy. We had an open space in the back where the kids would play, and we could keep an eye on them. We had an amazing stay!

Cute & Cozy Cabin

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was a great fit from the start! Lets start with the fact that it was nice and clean - not too much décor which was nice. The bedrooms are spacious, the living area and kitchen were just as they are pictured but feel better than you would imagine and the bathroom was an easy fit. Although it was just two of us in the cabin - we could have easily brought our kids (twins age 6) - the second bedroom could easily fit 3-4 kids or 2 kids and an adult. The living room couch is a futon that made laying down in the living room a nice treat - right in front of the fire place while watching a huge tv! The kitchen has all you would need - even a crock pot and a Keurig Coffee Maker! The best feature of all had to be the JACUZZI which is literally 3 steps away from the door. Honestly - we had very few complaints about this cabin. My only concern was the heat - despite putting it high up we had to keep the fire burning because we were perpetually cold. The heating blankets helped us out A LOT - which are provided in the cabin. Other than that - its a jem! and it is tucked away so you really get the feeling of being in the woods. Super close and easy access to bear mountain, vons/starbucks, walgreens. Really loved this place and would absolutely return!

Fun Bear Moutain Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Went with family, grandma and the dogs. Cabin was perfect for our size and location near Bear Mountain was perfect. Newer Jacuzzi was a plus as we spent time each day there after skiing. Some small sled runs across the street were good for some time outside. Only issue we had was the heater and some noise that it generated when running. Had to turn down at night but fireplace was great and plenty of wood to burn. Overall good vacation and would recommend to others.

Location

From the Owner

We chose to buy this property because is has a remote location surrounded by trees. We wanted the solitude feeling. Stores, restaurants and activities are close but we feel as if we are in our own world when at our retreat. It does have house nearby on the sides but it has more privacy and seclusion than most of the homes we have seen. We started looking at bigger places but realized that we preferred a smaller cozy place where we can relax together and it is so easy to pack things up when headed back home. This cabin enables a complete retreat.
