What a great place
We really enjoyed our stay at your home. The tikihut was fantastic for hanging out since the weather was perfect. The fenced in yard made it easy for us to bring our four legged family member to wander around with no worries. The downstairs apartment was also a great place for our parents to have their own little escape. The house was clean and very accommodating with great views of the ocean. The location is great too as it is a short drive to several places to grab a bite to eat. The only thing that was a negative is not anything the owner of this house could change, and that's the neighbors birds. They have two big caged birds that sit outside and every morning they start calling out, very loudly. Imagine getting woken up every morning about 6am by a siren that you can't shut off. Again, nothing this owner could fix, but definitely got annoying. But all in all, a place we would love to revisit.
Relaxing Stay at Beautiful House especially if you bring a boat!
To start with, the property and house was very clean and well maintained. As previously reviewed people have said, there are a few outlets that don't work but it wasn't a big deal. This is a beautiful 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom with an 80'+ dock. We had 5 total people overall in the unit. 2 couples and 1 single. I brought my boat down and it couldn't be a better location if you come by water. If you dive or fish, this was a perfect spot. Molasses Reef and French Reef are real close as this property is at the Southern end of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The fishing was also excellent as I fished just outside the drop off and caught Sailfish, Kingfish, and barracuda. The Islamorada Humps is about a 15 mile run and worth it. I made the run one morning and was rewarded with Blackfin Tuna (dinner). They have a great fish cleaning table which is something I really appreciated. There is a great sand bar that we anchored up and hung out with other boat owners. It was a lot of fun!
As for the house, you have two bedrooms up stairs. Both have king mattresses and master has it's own bathroom. The other bedroom has a bathroom just outside the door that would share with the living room. They have a wonderful porch up top with sitting chairs and a hammock. The view to the Ocean is something special. The downstairs bedroom is also a king size mattress and has it's own bathroom and living area with couch and beanbag chair. The kitchen was nice and had most utensils needed for cooking. They have a gas grill which we cooked fish and steak. Publix is about 5 miles to the North. If going to Publix on a weekend, I suggest you go early. It gets packed on the weekend and traffic can be a bear. The back of the property has a Tiki Hut lounge with a thatched roof. There are with two hammocks, a sitting area, and a TV overhead. This area is the Key's Life for sure. It's a quaint relaxing area with carved tiki poles and signs that really make you feel like your in the keys.
The owner was very nice and responded to my requests in the timely fashion. If you are looking for a great location for fishing or diving and have a boat, this is a great spot. It's a great spot to relax. I would definitely stay there again! I really enjoyed my stay there!
A true Florida Keys gem!
What's not to like about this Key Largo home. John was very accommodating, and quick to respond at anytime. We were a party of six, with two boats 33 & 27 feet long.
The home had an appealing nautical decor throughout, and kept up to par. All modern appliances, and even a bait freezer w/ washer drier on the first floor.
Enjoyed the tiki hut by the water, and plenty of room to accommodate the boats.
Location is ideal! You are literally minutes away from the popular reefs, offshore action, restaurants, and full service marinas.
We will be back, as this will always be our first choice for the upper keys.
Great property great location.
Enjoyed the house the teki hut was great. I had my boat with me it was very nice to be able to leave it tied up at the dock the entire time.
Our family truly enjoyed our time here. The place has everything you could want to relax and fish.
Looking forward to coming back next year!
Perfect house for keeping the teens separate - enjoyed visit from a manatee!
Perfect vacation, I’m already looking for dates when we can go again. Owner was terrific, answering all my questions (via email) promptly. There are so many amenities to this house - swim noodles, floaties, 2 kayaks, full size washer/dryer, air mattress, games (poker, yahtzee), baby toys, cable TV in the tiki hut, 3 full bathrooms and 1/2 bath outside next to tiki hut. Tons of parking. There were plenty of towels (look in storage basket at end of master bed). Walking distance to cute Key Lime Cafe with great souvenirs and yummy food. The house is near the very end of the canal, so close to the open water which was great - nicer view, easier to kayak out to the islands nearby, mangroves and a shallow reef. Saw many lobster under the docks of neighboring houses. On the last morning, I was rinsing off my snorkel gear and a manatee floated right up to the dock to drink some of the fresh water that was dripping down into the canal. Made our trip! Make sure the kayaks are always put back up in the gravel pit at night so they don't get stolen or float away. I woke up one morning to find them gone and thought for sure they were stolen! Turns out the kids didn't put them up on the dock or even tie them up, so they simply floated away in the middle of the night. We were lucky to find them at the dead-end of the canal and were able to retrieve them. I went with two girlfriends, three 15 yr old girls and two 12 yr old boys. Having the downstairs to put the girls in was perfect! Normally, they keep us up all night, but we didn't hear a peep. Enjoyed my morning coffee in one of the kayaks before everybody woke up. The house was very clean when we arrived with nice touches like little soaps. The kitchen was well equipped - blenders for our pina coladas! I would take maybe 1/2 a star off for some minor maintenance issues (lots of lights burned out, TV remotes not working, two outlets in kitchen didn't work) but since none of that affected our vacation, I wouldn’t take a whole star off. Easily fixed and I let John know so I’m sure will be fixed soon. The only one that bothered me a little were the lights on the patio not working so we didn’t eat outside. And it was a little dangerous walking down the stairs in the dark, even with the xmas lights on so I bought two flashlights (hopefully they are still there - if not, get them at Publix for $4.99 includes batteries). But the tiki hut lights worked. Can’t wait to go back!
