Overview

Property Details

Updated: Sep 23, 2016
Large Front Yard, 3 Bed, 2.5 Bath, 2000 Sq. Ft., Dog Friendly

Mike and David are the proud parents of Cherokee House. We are excited to offer you the perfect home for your family and friends to vacation in Asheville.

Only a 15 minute walk to downtown, Albemarle Park is like no other district in Asheville. You realize it is a very special place as soon as you pass the old gate house entrance. The lush neighborhood is filled with old homes, winding streets and enormous trees. For those exploring Asheville in the late 19th century, Albemarle Park was created as an alternative to the big hotel experience--a well designed and planned resort park. Today the 42 structures within the quarter are enjoyed by home owners, renters and visitors - young and old.

Historic on the outside and contemporary within, Cherokee House is a 2000 sq ft handsome grey stucco home with a large flat front yard built in 1925. Along the front porch, a custom stacked stone ring wall encloses two gardens and a cedar tree. Comfortable patio furniture adorns the porch along with a teak table for outdoor dining. Enjoy the covered sitting area and outdoor grill in the back yard. The home has brand new central air and heat, 2 zones--upstairs and downstairs. A new Kohler whole-house generator makes certain that when the electricity goes out in the neighborhood, yours does not.

The interior is clean and contemporary. There are 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, living room, tv room, dining room and basement. French doors open out to the front porch from both living room and dining rooms. There is high-speed internet throughout the home.

The bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. The Master bedroom has a King size bed, flat screen TV and its own bright bathroom. A private wood deck accoutered with lounges, table and umbrella, is attached to the Master bedroom. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed, dresser and smart TV. The 3rd bedroom has a queen size bed and dresser. A full bath in the hallway is shared by the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. There is a large selection of comforters and sheets and an assortment of pillows.

The main floor consists of a fully equipped kitchen, intimate dining room, elegant living room and modern gas fireplace. The relaxing TV room includes an automatic reclining sofa and 54 inch LED smart TV - Charter Cable, Pandora music & Neflix included. The basement contains the washer and dryer. A private two-car parking pad sits behind the house. Two adult and a kid's bicycle are available for your use during your stay.

About the Owner

My name is Mike Boustead and my husband is David Francis. We have been together for 25 years--married recently in Asheville. We previously lived in Los Angeles where we both worked in the film and music industries. I was a music editor for such films as Remember the Titans, The Royal Tenenbaums, Collateral, Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events, and many others. David was a recording pianist for such films as Pursuit of Happyness, Elegy and Fame. David is the composer of BARK! The Musical. He is also a classical concert pianist with 8 cds commercially available. Together, we produced the hit musical BARK! that ran in Los Angeles for two years and has since been licensed across the country. BARK! tells the story of six dogs and their experiences for one day in Deena's Doggie Daycare. We have two dogs in our family: Massimo, an Italian greyhound who is 3 and our Brother Wolf dog, Effie who is 6.

Beautiful Home - Excellent Host - Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our months rental and could not be more pleased with our decsion to rent the Cherokee house. The house is very comfortable, Immaculate and well decorated.

Mike was great to work with, he met with us shortly after we arrived at the house to show us around and let us know that he was in the neighborhood should we need anything.

This house is truly a jewel in a beautiful neighborhood although very close to downtown. I would strongly recommend the home. Thank you Mike, and all the best. Jeff

Cherokee House- Asheville Gem

  • 5 of 5

Out stay at Cherokee house began with this impression- A kitchen with fresh lemons and flowers, orange juice and bagels in the frig. It set the appropriate expectation for our wonderful stay in Asheville. Mike has a true green thumb and we enjoyed the herb garden and fresh tomatoes while we were there. The beds are cozy and the bathrooms perfect. The house is located perfectly- right next to downtown and near the Blue Ridge Parkway. While Cherokee house was built in the 1920's it updated with all the modern updates you could want! I give Cherokee House my highest recommendation!

Owner's Response: Having Dowell, Hardin, & their children for the month of July was a delightful experience. This family is especially gracious, considerate, well mannered and kind. The young, talented daughter is a very musical violinist, pianist, guitarist and singer who generously shared her gifts with us. The two year old son brought joy, fun, laughter and a huge smile into every moment. We are honored to consider Dowell and Hardin our new friends. We would have this beautiful family back in a New York minute and hope they have reason to return to Asheville soon. We highly recommend them to any host.

Very comfortable pet friendly home.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Mike and David's house. All the extras that you would want in a vacation home were available and if you needed anything else Mike was there to answer any questions at anytime.

We would definitely stay here again.

The location is perfect, close to town but far enough away.

Friends from Naples, Florida

We truly enjoyed our stay in Peter and Mike's beloved home. It was everything and more than what we expected. The best part is how attentive Mike is to details! He makes sure everything is perfect. After a rainstorm, he came over to blow off the front porch and fix the gravel in the parking area in back of the home. He gave us numerous suggestions of their favorite places in Asheville which we really appreciated. Hope to go back in a few years for another visit!

Willows: C'est Parfait!

  • 5 of 5

We had a memorable stay at The Willows the weekend of the Asheville Marathon / half-Marathon. We traveled from NYC to meet up with our daughters, who were running the half-Marathon, and who had traveled from DC and Indianapolis. The Willows was a perfect place for our family reunion! Mike is a gracious, welcoming host, who could not have set things up better for us. The home is comfortable, beautifully furnished (kitchen, living room, 3 bedrooms) and in a peaceful, wooded setting.. yet only 5 min by car from downtown Asheville, with easy access on and off US-240 to get to the Blue Ridge. Given the size of the home, The Willows is more suitable for a group of 4 or 6 than a couple, but keeping that in mind, one couldn't ask for more. We'll be back!

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with the charm of the city, the lively and excellent arts organizations, the panoramic vistas and the friendliness of the people-many of whom also moved here from somewhere else. The city is progressive and bubbling with excitement. We instantly fell in love with the Cherokee House the minute we walked through it's front door. The home is located in the best neighborhood in Asheville and one mile from downtown. One can go to the theater and out for drinks and dinner and then in three minutes return to our serene and beautiful home where its warm graciousness will embrace you with comfort and ease.
