Relaxing Cabin Near Hiking Trails
This is a great cabin in a wonderful location in North Carolina's foothills. The owners were friendly and offered many extras for our stay. The pantry had extras for our use which included fresh eggs, coffee and creamer! The cabin was clean and the beds were very comfortable. As another reviewer stated the sheets smelled fresh and there were plenty of towels and wash clothes! We had 3 adults in our group and we had plenty of room to stretch out. The one bathroom wasn't an issue at all. The beds were adorned with beautiful quits. The double sinks vanity in the master bedroom was a bonus when getting ready in the morning. There was also heat lamp in the bathroom which was heaven on a chilly morning. The upstairs loft had two double beds and plenty of space to relax but the stairs were an issue with one of our ladies who had a knee injury. Or maybe she faked the injury to get the master bedroom! :) That would be my only caution if you have "old" folks or youngish folks with injuries in your group. The stairs are kind of steep but very doable.
We enjoyed petting the animals on the farm (goats, sheep, a miniature horse, a new born donkey and his mother!) and walking the beautiful well kept grounds. The cabin is near several hiking trials. Stone Mountain is a quick 20 minute drive with a great 4.2 mile hike. There is also a quick hike to Carter Falls just down the road.
We had dinner in Elkin at a Mexican restaurant called La Fuente and we would highly recommend this establishment. Great food and service.
Sitting on the front porch with a delicious cup of coffee in the early morning or glass of wine in the evening was a great way to start or end our day. We enjoyed the ducks waddling across the yard and swimming in the pond in front of the cabin. The flowers were beautiful that boarder the front porch. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone that wants to get away from the rat race and stop to enjoy the flowers and the animals.. Wonderful host in a beautiful location.
Thank you Stephanie for your thorough review. Not only is the farm home to us, we like our guests to feel that comfort as well. A lot of thought, time, and effort goes into preparing for visitors. We want you to feel the comforts of a hotel alongside the uniqueness of a genuine 1800s cabin stay.
We appreciate our guests for supporting us, and in return we earnestly strive to make their time here enjoyable
It was our pleasure to host you
Peaceful country place
Well kept property with very quiet location.
Excellent property and owners
The property is beautiful and serene. The owners Barb and Chris are extremely nice and welcoming. This may become an annual stay for us.
Where to begin! This cabin in the woods next to a quiet isolated pond (but still close enough to civilization for access to creature comforts) was EXACTLY what my family needed. Every day we saw a little bunny hopping at the edge of the trees, ducks quaking at each other, crickets chirping in the evening. The inside of the cabin is a bit dark but what do you expect out of a cabin from the 1800s! It’s so cool to imagine how people lived that way and cooked their food on the very same fire place.
The owner was incredibly gracious and hospitable. Her house is just across the pond so if you ever needed anything she is close by.
One last thing:
I have a thing for the way bedding smells which I realize is quite odd but I say this to inform the reader that I know my scents. The bedding here was freshly laundered and smelled so clean! That’s something that truly makes me feel at home and happy.
Our stay was fabulous and we can’t wait to go back!
Back to basics
This is a great place to take the family to put the cell phones down and have some quiet family time. Thank You for letting us stay at your cabin. We will stay again.
