Lovely cottage, stunning location!
Couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay. Deceptively spacious, well equipped, character cottage right by the river Dordogne. Maryvonne and her family are so welcoming and thoughtful. We were very sad to leave but will definitely be back.
We were very happy to meet you.
You are friendly guests.
I hope to meet you again.
Charming and welcoming
Well equipped and comfortable cottage from which to explore a very beautiful part of France.
We were warmly welcomed and appreciated the folders of well organised tourist information.
The house was well suited to a person in a wheelchair.
The washing machine was very helpful.
We loved our stay and will have fond memories of sitting outside looking at the river glimpses. Beautiful walks and a great boulangerie. I can’t wait to return.
Merci beaucoup pour cette appréciation sur votre séjour.
J'ai aussi beaucoup apprécié votre présence et espère avoir la chance de vous voir revenir.
Very well located accommodation to explore the river Dordogne
My wife and I rented the pretty property for a fortnight in early May.
On arrival we found the property to be very clean and easy to operate. The kitchen was well-equipped with modern appliances. The fridge was of a reasonable size and there was a small freezer compartment. The cooker hob and oven were gas fuelled but the electric grill was not connected so this method of cooking was unavailable. The living room had a comfortable settee as well as a table and chairs for dining. There is central illumination although it is not particularly bright for reading after dark. The bed rooms had adequate storage although some wardrobe were locked and therefore unavailable. We brought our own sheets and towels although these are available to rent from the owner. The shower was quite powerful and there was always plenty of hot water. We used the small terrace to enjoy the warm sunshine during the afternoon and evenings – there is a partial view of the river. It was very convenient to be able to park right by the front door of the property and to have access to a cellar for the storage of bicycles.
We had booked this property on the basis that internet was provided. Reading a review from a previous guest just before we were due to visit, it became clear that there was no longer internet. I contacted the owner about this issue and was assured that something would be in place. In fact, a ’dongle’ was provided but this was extremely slow and soon expired. The owner provided us with another but again, with minimal usage, this lasted just 4 days. She also wanted to charge us for providing the equipment. We also had a dispute over the use of electricity for heating. Although ultimately both matters were resolved in our favour, we found it unsettling and time consuming to have to address such factors whilst we were on holiday.
We enjoyed our visit to the attractive area, with its opportunities to visit medieval towns and villages. There is ample scope for walking and cycling in the vicinity. Conveniently there is a large hypermarket just a few kilometres towards Bergerac.
Fortunately, the following tenants rated 5 stars for their stay in the same house.
Lovely house, welcome gift nice touch, Maryvonne couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I thought there as WIFI at the house and when we said she offered for us to come to her for anything urgent. We hope to return in the future as we hope to buy and would have no hesitation in booking again.
Thanks you very much. It was a great pleasure to meet you.
See you later
Great little house
The house was perfect for our weeks break. Weather was good. Loved the area.
Lovely 2 bed cottage on the Dordogne River
The cottage is in a wonderful location on the Dordogne River, it is very well equipped house and kitchen and felt like home during our stay. We were there early May and the little garden gets the sun all day and evening so we could eat outside. It was also lovely to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine and watch the swallows. There are lovely walks in both directions straight from the door and less than 5 min walk to get bread, pastries or wine from the local shop (bigger supermarkets or local markets are a short drive away). The hydro electric dam with fish lift, a short walk along the river, is fascinating and the canal, vineyards and little villages either side of the cottage made nice walks and good exploring. The cottage is very private but in a pretty little hamlet with other houses so not lonely and parking is easy. The Dordogne is stunning, the owner who lives in the village was very kind and the cottage lovely we will definitely go back.
I'm very glad you liked the cottage. I was very happy to meet you.
Thanks you very much for your appreciation.
