Romantic getaway

  • 5 of 5

My fiance and I came into Asheville and stayed at this wonderfully secluded place close to everything. Our host was super kind. The hot tub was excellent! The bed is super comfortable! Our host stayed out of our way and we enjoyed everything Asheville had to offer. The Hole and Sunny Point Cafe are musts while there. Wonderful town and I must say this place is way better than any hotel. Be open minded and enjoy. Thank you Michael for opening up your doors to us! We will be staying here again In March of 2017 for the Biltmore Marathon again I promise you!

AN INCREDIBLE VACATION RENTAL

  • 5 of 5

This place was way more than I expected. It was beautiful, peaceful, private and clean. For the money and valued environment you can't beat this place..It's really elegant inside with all the lighting and dimmers and the white flowing curtains. It has a really great bed and you're surrounded by a lovely little forest.. Being in the center of asheville, one block from the river, in the middle of the arts district, super close to west asheville, restaurants and pubs, biltmore village.......Michael and his wife listed some of their favorite restaurants on the wall in our room, which really helped my girlfriend and I explore the area. The hot tub is especially nice at the end of the day after touring around. This is a really special place that I feel blessed to have stayed at......After being at this place its hard to think about staying in a hotel again.

Quiet and peaceful

  • 4 of 5

We so enjoyed our stay. Quiet and secluded. Michael, the owner was there for anything we needed. Downtown is conveniently close and Michael had so many great suggestions for restaurants.

Great place for a couple- dog friendly

  • 4 of 5

Michael is wonderful to work with and the place was super cute. The bed is very comfortable and there are all the necessities in the cottage. It is close to the French Broad river park which has a nice dog park as well. It's within 3 miles or so from downtown Asheville and Southside. Very convenient! The only negative would be that there were quite a few bugs in the place (ants and spiders mostly) but in a cottage in a woodsy area it is understandable. If you are ok with that (like we were- and there is bug spray under the sink in the kitchen!) then you will be perfectly fine! :)

I would definitely book this place again. It was very cozy!

Exceptionally clean and quiet. An unusual place to stay . Namaste

Unfortunately not anywhere close to shopping or downtown. It is in a residential neighborhood. It really did not meet our needs that way. The kitchen is not attached, and one must go through the patio to get there. Room is large and the shower/bathroom Is lovely. There Is a big closet however it does not have a light. TV is not live, but only has net flicks and the like. Noisy window air conditioning unit

Owner's Response: thank you for staying with us.and I am glad you enjoyed our room.we r located 2 miles from downtown, one miles from both west asheville shopping and biltmore villiage. There r places all around here to shop and eat.We r not in the middle of downtown......thank god....It is quite peaceful, private and lovely and yet when you look out the windows you r in the middle of a forest. The walk in closet had two lites in it.Perhaps you didn't the switch which is right there when you walk into it.There is a fridge in the closet for beverage and yes the kitchen is a 20 foot walk from the room.Air conditioners make noise because they r machines....we can't do anything about that and when it is 90 degrees you might praise them for keeping you nice and cool.We sure do.......Thank you for your visit.

Urban oasis

  • 5 of 5

Perfectly located, calming sanctuary with fantastic hosts! My husband and I just stayed here about a week ago and it was our first time in Asheville. We were surprised to find how hot it was there in July, but walking into this place truly is a sanctuary! My husband was afraid since everything was so "green" that it would not be cool enough inside, but it was fantastic! We loved the privacy and the space. We brought our dog along and he loved it as well - he really enjoyed laying on the bathroom tile floor after a long morning of hiking in the nearby mountains! We didn't think we would utilize the hot tub given how hot it was, but after hiking and being on our feet all day it felt incredible! It also cooled down nicely in the evenings.

The location is great - we walked to the French Broad River park a few times, and there is a great little bar at the base of the road with a rotating food truck that was super relaxed and dog friendly (like anything in Asheville isn't!!! LOL). I think you could probably walk to several other restaurants but my husband had a list of places all over the city so we didn't do that too often. Speaking of lists, I LOVED that Michael and Laura had some recommendations in the closet of restaurants to try/activities/etc. We tried a few of the pet friendly restaurants and were pleased with all of them!

We will definitely be back to stay, but hopefully at a cooler time of year when we can enjoy the outdoors a bit more :-) So much better than a hotel - it felt like home!

Owner's Response: I am really happy you stayed with us.I enjoyed the fact that the few times I saw you walking your dog in the park when I was that you really felt like you get the most out of your life.It is a real gift that only a few seem to experience. There is an old expression in India that says" a pickpocket looks into a crowd and all he sees is pockets." so what you experienced which is beautiful is the wonderful qualities of our place which exists with in yourselves...It is really nice to meet an exceptional couples as yourselves. Please come again.

Location

From the Owner

It is a beautiful serene property overlooking the mountains in total privacy and is very close to the french broad river and Asheville parks as well as Biltmore estate and many fine and healthy organic restaurants. We are the most central locations to everything in asheville. You feel like you are in the woods when in the sanctuary and yet 5 minutes from all that asheville has to offer. It is very quiet here and very safe.We have been in this house since 2001 and watched our neighborhood become one of the most desired area in asheville. The park by our house is the premier place to walk, exercise and take a stroll with your dog. or float down the french broad river on a tube, kayak or standing board .
