A 'Trulli ' nice experience in Cisternino
Cisternino is central in the Valle d'Itria with outstanding westerly views of Martina Franca and Locorotondo from its lovely belvederes. This trulli is well located, a few meters from the steps up to the belvedere and entrance to the old town which you will want to spend time exploring for its history, quaint homes, lovely shops and restaurants and, of course, the barbecuing macellerias with their bombette. Had some apprehension the trulli might be dark, damp and cold but it definitely was not. The nights were cool and we had some rain during our stay but the trulli was heated and had enough windows it was bright and cosy. Hard to beat waking up under the white dome of a trulli with linen curtains filtering the morning light. The very large, southwestern patio, sheltered by the trulli, overlooks fruit trees and trulli dotted green countryside. Spent an entire day on the patio, reading in the sun, dining at the table in the shade of the olive tree. From this location we explored Alberobello, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Ostuni,Massafra and the coast, with beautiful Polignano a Mare and Monopoli, was just a 20 minute drive through lovely countryside.
Anna speaks some English, and her daughter, Graziana is fluent so they were easy to communicate with and very hospitable. Without hesitation we recommend this property and Cisternino for a stay in the Valle d'Itria.
une exellente situation entre campagne, mer et histoire
une accueil chaleureux par la propriétaire
un gite simple et fonctionnel
un cadre agréable entre ville et campagne
une région offrant de nombreuses possibilité (mer, campagne, architecture .....)
The Itria Valley is one of the most typical areas of Puglia, dotted with trulli and large expanses of olive trees, offers the possibility of beautiful walks, also by bike via the new bike path, the result of the redevelopment of the old aqueduct channel Pugliese, crossing kilometers and kilometers of territory.
Also a few km you can visit Cisternino and Locoronto, two of the most beautiful villages in Italy, boasting a wonderful medieval village, Ostuni, also known as the White City for the quaint old town, Alberobello and Martina Franca.
The nearest beach is only 15km and boasts several blue flags.
Do not miss the Natural Reserve of Torre Guaceto.
In the historical centers of the towns of Cisternino, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Ceglie, Ostuni you can find several restaurants, bars and shops to spend a beautiful evening in addition to palaces and historic churches to visit. We advise all travelers visiting our region arriving by car because, given also the town planning compliance of this, is not well connected with the media.
