About Paul Robbins
Paul & Pam have lived at Costecoute since 2007 and have restored the original house which dates back to Henry IV. The gite is more recently fitted out (2015/16) The couple originate from Berkshire and have grown-up children living in Wiltshire.
Paul Robbins purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Paul Robbins chose Avéron-Bergelle
The gite provides extremely comfortable accommodation for a couple or a couple with a young child. Guests enjoy exclusive use of the pool during their stay. The nearest neighbours are over 500 metres away. The property, including the pool, is not overlooked.
What makes this Apartment unique
There are extensive 360 degree views around the property. Local crops are mainly vines with some sunflowers and maize. The 3 local towns of Aignan, Eauze and Nogaro provide restaurants, bars and shopping but do not have a single traffic light between them!

Just about perfect
My wife and I booked here looking for a quiet week of relaxation and taking in some nice meals/dining. We got more than we expected in this quiet and relaxing corner of France in the just about perfect Gite owned by Paul and Pam. The gite looks fantastic on the pictures and the reality is probably even better. A modern property, very tastefully decorated, fully equipped and sat in the most picturesque setting together with the large private 10m x 5m pool just adding to the quality of the place made for what we were after by ways of a quiet relaxing holiday.
Paul and Pam were the most perfect hosts from the beginning of the booking process through the whole of our holiday. They invited us to the local village Fete on our first Saturday and it was a great experience to be part of the local french tradition with out door evening meal and local wine free flowing. During our stay, they were beautifully discrete but equally on hand to assist with any needed advice - the quality of their services matches the quality of their property.
The property is set in rolling countryside and we were taken by the silence and magnificent views. We dined out at some local restuarants which again were excellent and added further to a wonderful week's holiday. We visited a local Water Buffalo Steak restuarant twice - La Ferme Aux Buffles (just outside Aignan) which was excellent. Limited menu of Buffalo Steak, Buffalo Stew or Buffalo Burger as mains but all of high quality with great supporting starters and desserts and reasonably priced. We also dined twice at a restuarant in Aignan itself - by the Arena - the Brasserie Des Arenes. This has a great selection of Belgian bottled beers (including an alcohol free one for the non-drinkers / drivers) and does a 3 course menu for 13 Euro and I will defy you to get better value anywhere for such good food.
We also visited Agen to do the michelin starred Mariottat restuarant which is only about 1.5 hours' drive but worth it for that special treat.
To sum up...Paul and Pam have a fantastic property here in Gers in a very beautiful and relaxing part of France. They are the perfect hosts and I can only highly recommend their elegant Gite, its location together with their hospitality. If 6 out of 5 was an option they would get it. In one word.....Superb.
We're very pleased that Damian and Christine enjoyed their stay with us so much. I know their highpoint lunchwise was the trip to Agen, but they were also able to enjoy many of the fine restaurants here in the Gers.
Modern gîte with everything
Superbly equipped gîte in a perfect location.
Peaceful countryside all around us.
Very sad to leave.
Lovely Long Weekend
Was a fantastic stay from start to finish. Great facilities and beautiful surroundings.
Fabulous gîte, fabulous views, fabulous people
We can’t thank Paul and Pam enough for making our stay in their fabulous gîte an extremely relaxing and enjoyable experience - so much so that we are already planning to return later this summer. The accommodation has an immaculate contemporary interior, is spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a stress-free and relaxing holiday. The welcome pack including water, milk, eggs, ham, cheese, bread (I may have forgotten something there was so much), Pam’s truly delicious home-made jams and chutneys and bottles of local wines was a very generous, kind and thoughtful touch that was very much appreciated. After a long drive it tasted all the more delicious – thank you! The pool area and accompanying views over the rolling landscape, neighbouring vineyards and fields of sunflowers makes the heart sing and provides a lasting memory of our time spent in a fabulous location. Our hosts were attentive, friendly and helpful but never intrusive, offering advice on the local area and cuisine. We were very sad to leave but we are definitely going to return. On the day we left Pam and Paul very generously included us on their day out, taking us to see the Tour de France as it passed through the local area. This was a truly special end to our holiday.
Thank you Paul and Pam for everything you have done to make our holiday special – see you soon.
We're really pleased both of you enjoyed your stay with us so much. And it was a pleasure to have you join us for the day when the Tour de France passed through this area.
Perfect location. High quality accommodation.
We cannot fault the quality and location of Costecaoute. 360 views of countryside including vines and sunflowers. No near neighbours but local villages good for shopping and lunches out. Amazing value for money €13 Lunch including wine! What's not to like. My favourite was the Magret de canard at a little place called Montesquiou. If we get to return that place is a must. Even a complementary armagnac at the end of the meal.
We had a fantastic stay. The gite was immaculate and very well equipped and the pool was stunning. The welcome basket on arrival was brilliant and provided all essentials for the stay plus a lovely breakfast for the first morning. The wonderful views are 360 degrees around the property. Pam and Paul the gite owners were the loveliest people and fantastic hosts. The gite would be great for anyone with mobility issues as is on level ground and has great access.
The surrounding towns and villages were lovely with lots of places close by for good food.
We had such a great time, and we cannot wait to go back. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
We were very pleased to welcome Chris & Dimitri and sincerely hope they come back again soon for a longer period. They are a delightful young couple and we are so pleased that they enjoyed their stay with us.
