The area's nearby antique shops and the beauties of the rolling hills and picturesque towns of Litchfield County are 4-star attractions. There are modern shopping centers a mile or two away that can be reached either along main roads or an uppaved farm road with scenic barns and cows in the pastures. There are opportunities for recreational activities of all kinds, including hiking, jogging, biking, skiing, swimming, tennis and golf. The location is 65 miles, 90 minutes from New York City and 15 mnutes from both Danbury and Waterbury with commercial centers and cultural events. Cozy carriage house in tranquil setting
This is a historic property. It is quaint and small, but offers all the comforts of home. Kitchen, living room and bathroom have everything you would need. Both bedrooms are relatively small, yet comfortable. The property itself is expansive and gorgeous. It is well kept - lawn, garden and woods are perfect for outdoor living. Driveway is plenty big for 4 vehicles/
Lovely Place to Stay
First time visit to Connecticut, the Carriage House was the way to go. Very cold outside, but warm and welcoming inside. Lovely furnishings, pristine accommodation, parking right at the door set off the street made for easy coming and going. Quiet, and well stocked. Backyard patio and backyard are comfortable and with the timing we had of a full moon and clear skies was a real treat. Kitchen and bath nicely stocked. Very nice and comfortable living room and dining area. Would happily stay here again.
Jay was a wonderful host and his property made our wedding day very special.

Charming Carriage House
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were so happy to visit our son at Waterbury, which is only a short drive away. The host is very nice and welcoming. I highly recommend.
Couldn't have been nicer, more friendly, and fun to talk with during their stay. Highly recommended for all future bookings.
charming antique carriage house! Great central location.
The carriage house is in a great spot if you are staying in the region. Lovely gardens provide a tranquil outdoor setting.
Hello Sheila, I very much enjoyed having your stay and helping you find the best of the biking and hiking trails, swimming spots and 4th of July fireworks. It's great to have such adventurous and athletic guests listen and then take full advantage of what the region has to offer. You taught me about one beautiful hike that I didn't know about. I shall enjoy taking it soon.
I'll not soon forget the coincidence of your car pulling out of the driveway just as I was leaving, my following you turn for turn and winding up together in the parking lot and dining room of Max's in Woodbury.
Home away from home
We loved staying here with our toddler. Jay was a great host and offered us a bottle of wine upon arrival. We had everything we needed to be comfortable and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The house is only 10 min. from our family and we loved having friends over to eat outside after the baby went down. And she loved running around the beautiful yard and playing in the gazebo. We will be making Jay's carriage house our home away from home next time we go back to visit.
There are two roads to the Main Street of Southbury both cross the Pomeraug River. South Britain Road is the simplest way following along the river. The scenic way is through scenic dairy and fodder farms along a partially dirt road used by many joggers and hikers. Trails branch off this road into the hills or down to the distant river and its woods. As the road nears its end it passes through woods and crosses the river to reach the busy center of town.
Woodbury is a few miles away with its earliest historic buildings and the beginning of the Antiques Road.
Woodbury is the beginning of Litchfield County with its quaint towns set in the scenic hills and landscape. Each is distinctive in its own way. Explore the many historic buildings, events, main streets with shops and restaurants.
