About Terry Nowell
I bought an adobe ruin in Marfa in 1997 after locating the run-down shell of a house with the help of some friends. I've worked on it for quite a few years attempting to make it into a super comfy retreat at the edge of town in Marfa.

Why Terry Nowell chose Marfa
This rustic adobe artist's space allows you to experience the real feel of West Texas in an extremely comfortable dwelling.
What makes this House unique
Nicely equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, very unique handmade house. We try to keep Big Bend coffee in the house for your use unless you are there for an extended stay. The house is in a real, very safe Marfa neighborhood that has older and less manicured adobe homes, a cemetery at the end of the street and is "rustically" West Texas.

We loved this gorgeous and artistic little temporary home for our stay in Marfa! We couldn’t have asked for more amenities and Terry was wonderful to coordinate and communicate with. We will 100% stay here again!
So glad you guys got to spend time in Marfa and at my house. Thanks for being a great communicator, for taking care of the house and please do come for another visit if ever back in this area.
Private desert location within walking distance to town center.
Great edge of town location but easy walk to town center. Star gazing at night is great and the "Marfa Lights" were visable from the property. The lighting was an issue. Several bulbs were out in the bathroom and kitchen seemed very dark even with lights on. Enjoyed the privacy.
Very sorry you felt the lighting was not sufficient for you. Also concerning is that you didn't contact me or the house manager about any bulbs that were burned out while you were at the house. As in multiple times of correspondence "Please let us know if you need anything during your stay". We would have gladly taken care of any burned out bulbs for you. There is also the possibility the dimmers on the switches were in minimum position. As mentioned in the house rules, there are tiny dimmers along side almost every light switch in the house. The dimmers have to be slid up for more light.
Sorry, but the Marfa Lights are not visible from my property. I wouldn't want you to give some future renters false hopes.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the privacy.
Home Away from Home
Our family felt so comfortable in this little house. The furnishings, decor, library of books, grounds surrounding the house were all enjoyed greatly! We loved being somewhat secluded, had great stargazing opportunities and nice quiet moments to relax.
We had a great time and loved the house! Terry is also an exceptional host. We will definitely return!
Lesli was a fantastic guest. She observed the house rules, was extremely prompt with all communications and would certainly be welcomed back at any time.
Lovely home, with beautiful outdoor space--great for stargazing. Loved all the special touches. We were very comfortable there and hated to leave. Terry is a wonderful host. Thanks again for everything.
Paula was the perfect guest. She was quick to respond to emails and texts, took great care of the house while visiting and would certainly be welcomed back at any time.
Cool house, great art, strong desert vibes
We really enjoyed staying here for a few nights. The house is beautiful and interesting, with tons of obvious character and history. We loved that it felt like it was on the edge of town. The kitchen was well-appointed, the bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed cozying up on the couch and listening to the radio.
