So lovely we hated leaving!
Le Moulin is absolutely delightful - so much so that we almost hatched a plan to tell nobody about it on our return, so that we could be in with a chance of booking it again!
Anne was great to communicate with in booking and arranging our stay, and we were greeted wonderfully by the excellent Madame Trouvé.
Once in the Mill, we had a fabulous stay. Everything is there you could need, the living spaces are decorated stylishly but with a really pleasing minimalism. The master bedroom is pretty wonderful, the kitchen area is fun, and the terrace over the river is totally amazing. With water running around the Mill it genuinely is one of the most chilled-out locations you could choose to stay in – and the lack of a TV makes it even better, we played games, read books and even did a puzzle!
We particularly appreciated all the kitchen utensils and accessories as we love France loads but as vegetarians usually end up staying in to eat, so cooking in a lovely kitchen like this and eating over the water was wonderful.
There's a boat and a kayak so you can take to the water, and a short walk away is the pool and magnificent games room. The pool was lovely, chlorine-free using salt instead, and the ping pong and table football are great. We even managed to get piano practice in for our eldest (with a bit of cajoling).
Once we'd left (a little grudgingly) Le Breuil, it has to be said that Monts is a brilliant location. We've visited the Loire Valley before but here, just outside Tours, is an unbeatable base with a ludicrous number of great Chateux and other sites to visit, all within easy reach. If we'd have been staying any longer we could have hired bikes and pretty much managed a second week car-free, as there was is much within easy reach.
We usually like to mix it up with our holiday locations but it has to be said this was the best holiday location we've ever experienced (and we've traveled a LOT), so we definitely plan to return to Le Moulin!
Thanks Anne, for creating such a wonderful place.
A Beautiful Place to Stay
We stayed at Le Moulin in August 2020 with our two children (aged 15 and 13). The house is fantastic with a stunning view across the river from the deck. The directions to the house are easy to follow and Anne was a wonderful and informative host. There is plenty to do nearby with the two boats and the swimming pool and table tennis are just a short walk away. It’s hard to fault the house and we wouldn’t have changed anything about our stay. We’d certainly like to return in the future and would recommend to anyone. Thank you Anne
Moulin de Breuil
Beautiful house in a stunning location. We will return.
1 week stay for the second time
Peaceful, clean, inspiring. The best sleep ever, by far. the most quiet and isolated place on the planet for us. The fire, the terrace, the canoe, the chateau, the forest, they are all a part of our lives now. Thank you Anne for restoring this place and allowing us to share this wonder!
My husband, daughter (10mths old), and I just returned from a perfect 11 day stay at the Mill. The Mill had everything we needed in order to be comfortable on our trip. My husband spent quite a bit of time fishing off the patio and I explored the property with our daughter (going for walks and looking at the farm animals). The property includes another Mill, Manor House, working Farm, and Château. Even though all, except the Château, were in use or rented during our stay, we had plenty of privacy. Anne, the owner, was very responsive when we had any questions. We used the Mill as a base while we explored the Loire Valley. I would highly recommend staying here if you are considering this place for your vacation. I also have a couple of tips-
1- Rent a car: at first we thought we could rent bikes to get around but I am so glad we rented a car. The property is “out of town.” and not close to a bus/train station. This was our first experience driving in Europe and the French country roads are fairly easy to navigate and there is not much traffic.
2- Monts is not a tourist destination, like Paris, and most people don’t speak any English. This wasn’t a big deal for us as we travel to France often but be prepared to bring some sort translation device.
3- Rent a phone from InsidrParis: Since the Mill didn’t have WiFi or a phone, we rented a phone from InsidrParis that we picked upon arrival at CDG. We used the phone as our navigation for the car, translator, and hotspot to call home.
4- Grocery shopping nearby: There is a SuperU in town but if you drive a little further there is a Carrefour which has more and better selection and BioCoop which has only organic items.
All in all, it was a fantastic trip. We are looking forward to coming back soon.
