Fabulous villa with spectacular view
This is one of the best villas we've stayed in and the view is just terrific. We stayed a week after 2 nights in Porto da Cruz and after we stayed 2 more nights in Porto Moniz and the villa made a great base for exploring the island. You'll need a car (but not a big one as local roads and the drive are a tad tight), but that will enable you to see just how much th eisland has to offer. The nearby fishing villages of Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar are great to sit and have a cool beer and watch the waves. Contrast that with Paul da Serra, which is like being up on the moors in England sometimes above the clouds in the valleys. The villa is really comfortable and well equipped, we shopped at the local supermarket, ate in every night and sipped a glass of Madeira wine whilst watching the sun go down - what could be better? We paid for the pool heating as it was early in the year and that made the pool warmer in than out and we could swim early and late. All in all a fantastic week in a fantastic villa, thanks Roy and thanks to Roseann.
You can only but relax here!
Perfect house for the perfect relaxing holiday. As soon as you walk through the front door of this house you know what your holiday is all about. The view of the infinity pool in front of the Atlantic is second to none and you will relax immediately. The three bedrooms are all facing the pool and sea and are of generous size. Three decent bathrooms to match. The kitchen is super spacious and well equipped. A hire car is essential to get to nearby shops/ bars/ villages. Very steep roads. The photos on this site don't do the property any justice, but that might be the secret to getting a booking with Roy! Great communication throughout and any small issues are rectified immediately. Can't wait to go again... ! C & A Hunt
A beautiful villa with a stunning view
My husband and I spent two fabulous weeks here in September. The villa itself is really well appointed and spotlessly clean. Best of all was the stunning view from the terrace and the infinity pool, which was perfect to cool off on a hot day.
The villa is situated in a quiet area up a typically steep minor road so a car is essential. There is not much within walking distance but both Jardim do Mar and Calheta are a short drive away with some lovely restaurants and bars. Taxis are pretty reliable and cheap as well if you need them.
Rose and Gilberto were very pleasant and most helpful throughout our stay so all in all we would highly recommend for a quiet, relaxing break in a stunning location.
Very nice, spacious and good value property
The property was perfect for our needs. It was spacious, with three large bedrooms, three bathrooms and a downstairs toilet along with a large kitchen and living room. The outside space was good too. The pool is a salt water pool and initially I wasn't keen on the idea, but in reality it doesn't sting your eyes or anything like that and the towels don't get stained with suncream like with a chlorinated pool.
The villa is situated on the edge of a canyon so the views are spectacular. You definitely need a car, there is a well stocked supermarket at the bottom of the hill along with a pharmacy. We met Roseann at a local hotel and she took us up to the villa no problem. We did not experience problems with ants and the villa was clean on arrival. The villa is also totally enclosed with electric gates so we know the property was secure too. There were a couple of minor issues which we just let Roseann know about - nothing major at all and wouldn't have made any difference to the stay if it had waited until we had left - but they were fixed the very next day so cannot complain about that at all. We enjoyed our stay very much and explored the island quite extensively.
Highlights included the toboggan run in Funchal followed by cable cars back up the hill, Porto Moniz natural pools, Pico Ruivo - if you go up there early enough you can trek for a way but we mistimed that! We ate in a nice restaurant at Calheta marina and we went on a whale watching trip from the same area which was really good, although expensive.
All in all this was a very good value property, the kids loved the pool and the beds were very comfortable indeed.
I would highly recommend! Thank you Roy for letting us stay.
Fantastic villa with amazing views
We stayed at this villa for 2 weeks in July with our 2 children 7 & 4. The villa is a real home from home and fully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The pictures don't do this villa justice. The villa is completely secluded so you can close the electric gates and switch off and relax. The uninterrupted view of nothing but sea from the infinity pool makes staying at this villa extra special with some of the most amazing sunsets we've ever seen. The villa itself is 10 mins drive from Calheta where you find a large supermarket and a handful of bars and restaurants. There is a smaller supermarket 5 mins drive from the villa. You do need a car when staying here but it gave us the opportunity to explore the whole island. This is our 4th visit to Madeira and we usually stay within the Funchal area so it was nice to stay in a quiter and more traditional town. This also meant that the food and drinks prices were much lower. 3.50€ for a cocktail got our votes 😊 The airport is an easy 60/65 min drive and Funchal about 40 mins drive from the villa. We look a few drives over to Porto Moniz where you will find swimming pools made out of volcanic rock. There's also many bars and restaurants there which makes a nice day trip out. We would highly recommended this villa and can't wait to return. My daughter said it's the best bed she's ever slept in and wishes she could take it home. The smart tv was an extra bonus so it was great for the kids to watch a film on netflix when it was too hot. The added extras of electric blinds just added to an amazing place to stay.
Great views and spacious modern villa
Great views, great villa, great holiday. Infinity pool is spectacular, as is the view across the ocean, which you look out to from every bedroom window in the villa. You will need a car as 10mins drive from nearest supermarket (50 mins from Funchal) and if you hire a large car getting into the villa driveway up the hill can be tricky! Highly recommended all round though.
The villa is close to the lavadas two beaches with good surf
Beautiful country walks
Close to tow man made beaches and marinas
