About Sue Mahoney
The cottage is adjoining our property and we have lived here for 19 years. Chris is a Northumbrian, but I am not. However I feel like Northumberland is my true home. We both enjoy the country way of life and take an active part in village life. We love to walk and explore Northumberland, so can offer extra local information and hidden gems. We like to listen to live music and there is a lot in this area, mainly traditional. Every year there is the Rothbury Music festival (June) and Alnwick International Muisc Festival (July) Our love of food holds no bounds and can recommend a lot of places in the area.
Sue Mahoney purchased this Bungalow in 1997
Why Sue Mahoney chose Morpeth
There is everything you need for a relaxing holiday. A lot of our guests comment on, that by the end of the week they are so relaxed that time has no meaning.
What makes this Bungalow unique
The hill we look onto is called Mount Pleasant, and to me that sums up living here. I think we have the best of both worlds. We are surrounded by lovely countryside and on the main A697, so can so drive anywhere. We have unpolluted skies and often have a starry nights, and have seen the Aurora Borealis, sitting in the garden.

Fabulous property! Lovely stay.
A wonderful property. Very well stocked. Just perfect.
we will return
a excellent property to visit various parts of northumberland.
excellent value for money and pleasant owners
This accommodation is in a lovely location within easy access to coast and countryside. It is clean and well furnished, sadly however it has a massive problem with damp and the smell just hits you as you walk through the door.
Catherine, we had so much rain at the beginning of August, it flooded the area. We have now been able to rectify the problem.
Beautiful, peaceful break
The cottage is gorgeous. It is clean and fresh, very comfortable - oh what a wonderfully comfy bed! Extremely well equipped - we wanted for nothing, it was all there for us and everything works. The location is outside the village and is away from it all with fabulous birdlife around. Plenty of stars to see at night, with the sound of cows mooing and tawny owls hooting. Bliss.
Great stop over
This small cottage was ideally suited for the two of us and our two dogs as a stop over on our journey to the Midlands from our home in Scotland. The local facilities in Framlington just a couple of minutes via car are very good, with the bakery/cafe excellent. A number of pubs in the village and in surrounding area give good food choices. The owner Sue was very friendly and efficient. Communication prior to our stay was excellent, given the short notice of our booking.
Besom Barn - home away from home
We spent a week in Besom Barn, and the cottage is small but perfectly formed! We were welcomed by Sue and Chris who were very helpful and friendly, and had left wine and biscuits as a treat! The cottage is well located to visit both coast and surrounding towns - we travelled to Alnwick, Chesters Fort on Hadrian's Wall, Cragside, Seahouses (and the Farne Islands by boat), Craster and local village pubs, Dunstanburgh castle and Bamburgh whilst we were there.
The cottage is comfortable and extremely well-equipped - there was nothing missing! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will certainly be back. Many thanks!
To see Northumberland you really need your own transport.
Also there is plenty of Clay pigeon Shooting. Which are open to visitors.
