About Campbell McLeod
Born and raised in Michigan then moved west to Montana then to California. I have spent many summers enjoying sailing and swimming in the Great Lakes as a youngster and later brought my famliy back to share the beauty and special experience of Lake Michigan. I bought a 31 ft Cape Dory sailboat in Chicago about 6 years ago and sailed along the Lake Michigan coast. It was on one of those cruises I discovered the Village of Northport. I found the area so ideal for summer vacations I bought this home. I have redecorated the home to create a sunny and comfortable cottage for large gatherings,
Campbell McLeod purchased this House in 2013
Why Campbell McLeod chose Northport
The two acre property has a large grassy lawn for events and games. It is within walking distance to restaurants, bakery, micro brewery, the marina and beaches. Tennis and golf are within the Village limits. This is an ideal house for wedding guests and family reunions.

Family Home Away From Home
Needed a place for 7 adult family members (3 couples plus one traveling w/o spouse) in Leelanau County for a cousin’s wedding. My family each wanted their own private bathroom so this house was perfect. Cozy and comfortable bedrooms with private baths. Plus a well appointed kitchen where we made multiple breakfasts, a dining room large enough to fit us all, and a living room with 7 chairs, a fireplace stocked with wood (we used it 3/4 nights), a big coffee table for playing Yahtzee and Farley and TV for those needing their football fix. House had WiFi and most items you need. Only challenge was fruit flies and sharing the hot water for showers and those were really no problem at all. Would stay here again for sure!
Beautiful property. Outside space was great for a casual rehearsal dinner.
Owner great to work with. Within walking distance to downtown Northport. We spent the weekend for my son’s wedding. The outside space was great for a casual rehearsal dinner bbq. Very nice that all bedrooms have there own bath.
Spacious, Lovely, Historic Northport Home
Our family of 6 adults and 4 children (ages 2 to 11) spent a week in July at this lovely, historic home in Northport, located about 2 blocks from Northport's town center and 5 blocks from its public beach. In particular we loved that each room was spacious and had its own ensuite bathroom; the enormous walled-in yard with outdoor fireplace; and the highly functional and charming kitchen. The yard was perfect for our little ones to play and run around safely. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, and we found that it was close enough to town and to the beach to be able to walk or drive quickly anywhere we wanted to go. The owner, Campbell, was friendly and very easy to work with, and very responsive during our stay. The house did not have a TV when we stayed there, though does have wi-fi installed throughout. We loved it and hope to stay there again next year!
Beautiful ex B&B in Northport.
We recently hosted a small family gathering with people traveling in from California and DC. The house met our needs and provided a perfect place for all to gather and catchup. Inside, each room had its own restroom, and the common areas were up-to-date and comfortable while blending in historical atifacts relating to the house and town. Campbell was instantly approachable and has clearly taken great care of creating a rental home. There is a stereo hifi, and WIFI, but no TV on premises. The kitchen and appliances worked well and we did not want for any cooking related tool. The outside grounds were great. Our pack of kids were free to run around the 2-acre lot, and we set up a badminton net for the duration. The outdoor fireplace is a nice touch both for smores as well as adults' nightcap time after kids went to bed. Overall, the house was excellent, and only two short blocks to the heart of Norhtport (which is only two blocks wide by the way). The local beach and marina feature a large picnic, and playground area which we hit every night after ice cream at the Tribune --yum! There is plenty of parking, and we were able to easily explore the town as well as drive to nearby tourist sites and preserves. We even hosted a gathering of almost 30 people on the last day. If you are up for a comfortable home with beautiful landscaping, in a quiet lakeshore town, then this place is a peach. (Or as the locals may say a "cherry").
