An amazing, spacious house with everything you’ll ever need for a relaxing holiday in the south of France. The pool is great, badminton and trampolines keep the kids amused, outdoor living areas abound and the house itself - tastefully combining rustic and modern - is fantastic: 4 good sized bedrooms, spacious living and dining rooms and a well stocked kitchen. It’s a short drive from local amenities and good restaurants. Koen and the two local housekeepers are great to deal with, always on hand to answer questions and clearly keen that guests enjoy their stay. We’ll be back!
Lovely Spacious Holiday Home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious farmhouse with lovely pool and large wild garden. Everything was provided to ensure our stay was relaxed and comfortable. The south facing aspect gave beautiful sweeping views across farm and woodland and it was very quiet and piece full. We had the added bonus of glorious weather, even the one thunderstorm that came over us gave us a spectacular light show!
Lovely country house with stunning views
We have spend a most relaxing week in this nicely renovated house in a very beautiful and quiet region. Countryside-views are quite stunning as slopes go down on both sides of the property. The house itself is very spacious, features authentic elements, but also has a brand new, well equiped kitchen and 2 modern bathrooms. There’s a shady patio, a large garden with fruit trees (delicious prunes!) and a fantastic private swimming pool. With a field full of sun flowers right in front, we just loved being at the terraces and swimming pool. Koen is an excellent host; he’s very friendly and helpful and took great care of us.
There are some nice walks in the valleys around the house and a truly excellent restaurant in the sleepy village of Bardigues, just a short strawl away. The lovely village of Auvillar is a must see (a 10 minute drive away), and you’ll reach the beautiful city of Toulouse in just 45 minutes. If you are looking for a spacious peaceful place to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings, this is the place for you.
Lovely stay at Farmhouse at Bardigues
It was a charming peaceful and lovely place...overlooking the outdoor swimming pool and rolling hills. I enjoyed my stay very much. I especially love the hugh tastefully renovated new bathroom with rain shower. Thanks Koen & Hwa Eng!
Charming house in an amazing location
The house was beautiful and decked with modern amenities that were very well maintained! It also boasts an amazing countryside view and a prime location if you are looking to visit the wine regions of Cahors and Bordeaux (approx 1 - 1 1/2 hour drive). 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay during your holiday in the region!
Our house is located in the ‘department’ of Tarn et Garonne:
By car 5 minutes highway checkpoint of Valence d'Agen
By train 15 minutes Valence d'Agen rail way station
By air 25 minutes Agen airport;
45 minutes Toulouse-Blagnac
1 hour 20 minutes Bordeaux Mérignac
It is 20 minutes walking distance (almost 1.5 km) from the village of Bardigues, which has a renowned (French) restaurant with excellent wine list, Auberge de Bardigues.
The ‘department’ Tarn et Garonne is a particular agricultural area with many fruit trees and orchards. The many small and quiet roads throughout the hilly area are ideal for cycling and walking.
o Auvillar (4 km, 5 min): at a short distance lies the beautiful village of Auvillar, perched on the river Garonne, which is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
o Espalais (5 km, 5 min): just slightly behind Auvillar is Espalais, which has a 9 hole golf course.
o Valence d’Agen (12 km, 15 min): a little bit further is Valence d’Agen; it has a railway station, a center with all amenities and some larger supermarkets.
o St. Nicolas de la Grave (15 km, 15 min): watersports is available at St. Nicolas de la Grave, about 15 minutes’ drive from Bardigues. In this large lake the rivers Tarn and Garonne merge.
o Moissac (23 km, 20 min) lies on the river Tarn and a stage of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Moissac is a well known wine area between the hills and beautiful buildings, such as the Abbey of Saint-Pierre (Unesco World Heritage Site).
Walking: from Moissac the hike Les Coteaux the Boudou starts. This is a walk of 16 km through vineyards and orchards, which partially follows the road from Le Puy (GR65).
Cycling: Voie Verte du Canal des Deux Mers. This is a trip along the beautiful ‘green road’ which crosses the entire department of Tarn-et-Garonne, starting in Moissac.
o Agen (35 km, 30 min) is the nearest regional center. Nearby Agen is the popular family theme park Agen Walibi.
o Montech (35 km, 35 min): the forest of Montech (www.ville-montech.fr) has two beautiful trails in the trees, which are accessible to everyone from 3 years (www.agrip-aventure.fr).
o Cahors (75 km, 1 h 15 min): lying on the River Lot, is a famous wine region.
o Lauzerte (38 km, 40 min): when you drive through the beautiful regional roads from Bardigues to Cahors, you will come across the fortified town Lauzerte. It is on the list of most beautiful villages of France (www.lauzerte-tourisme.fr). The village is the heart of the AOC Chasselas de Moissac (since 2003) and the production of melons of Quercy. In addition, the region is known for its orchards, sunflowers, corn and lavender.
o Toulouse (91 km, 50 min): lively Toulouse is one of the most fashionable of French cities with superb dining, excellent shopping and fun nightlife.
o Albi (160 km, 1 h 20 min): a Unesco World Heritage site, Albi is a unique ensemble with lots of historical buildings.
o Bordeaux (167 km, 1 h 30 min): the most famous wine area of France.
o Rocamadour (173 km, 1 h 50 min): overlooking the Alzou canyon, the medieval village of Rocamadour is a marvellous balancing act. It was also the much-venerated sanctuary of the Black Virgin. The drive to Rocamadour takes about two hours, but this is a day trip very easily combined with visits to Lauzerte and Cahors.
o Carcassonne (184 km, 1 h 40 min): Carcassonne is a UNESCO World Heritage site boasting an incredibly well preserved medieval castle.
