Having just returned to New Zealand, we are now in a position to reflect on our experience of staying at the Chateau du Bouchet during June this year. We had hired not only the main wing but also, to accommodate more family members, the two separate units with ensuites. At one time we were with 16 adults, including a few teenagers, but most of the time we had 12 or 14 in our party.
Looking back on that week now I can honestly say it was a most wonderful venue for our holiday. The chateau is truly beautiful set as it is in the french countryside, in huge park-like surroundings, with the swimming pool less than a hundred meters away.
Sophie made us feel very welcome and provided bed linen and towels. We made good use of the table tennis, the bikes and the BBQ. We were lucky with the weather so were able to sunbath, go out for walks, have short drives to the local villages and generally enjoy the local environment and people.
The only shortcoming was the lack of good internet access. I understand that this is due to its remoteness but if you are not too worried about staying in everyday contact with the rest of the world that should not be a problem.
In every other aspect, the chateau met all our needs and provided a beautiful, romantic backdrop for our holiday. We thoroughly recommend it and look forward to staying another time. Thank you Sophie!
