About Claire Tuttle
Our families are best of friends...FRamily. We have enjoyed sharing this home and creating great memories. Hope you will too!
Claire Tuttle purchased this House in 2012
Why Claire Tuttle chose Hickory
We wanted a place to gather that was stress free and gave us a great platform to just be together. There is a ton to do....or just chill in a hammock. All good.
What makes this House unique
The home is unique in many ways. The third floor tower with twin beds in only accessible by a ladder built with metal pipes (it is a great view when you get up there). The bunk beds are also built into the wall. There is a big glass garage door that opens to the screen porch to make the entire downstairs feel like the porch. The outdoor showers are terrific...if it isn't freezing outside! The property sits on a hill next to the lake. There is a train track that runs below (but it only runs a few times a week and during the day so it will not wake you at night. We look forward to the train coming through on the rare occasion and wave to 'Mickey' the conductor!). With both the lake and creek next to the property, many water options are available.

Great multi family house
This was a great house for a long multi-family weekend. Lots to entertain all ages. The big screened porches and warm fires were great when we just wanted to relax. Plenty of room! The only downfall was no gas grill but we made due with the charcoal one that was there. Would definitely like to rent again!!
This house provides the space for a group to be together without being on top of each other. The kids loved it so very much, there was so much available for them to do. We enjoyed the fires at night and the mornings with the garage door up! I can't think of a thing I would add or change!
This house and location is absolutely stunning. It had everything that you could possible think off. When you stay here you soon forget about the hustle and bustle of every day life.
Great weekend with great friends
Given the size of our group we not only needed a large house but one with plenty of things to do, this place delivered and then some. We were able to get the most out of the bocce court, the fire pit, the garage, the lake access, and everything in between. Thanks for the great time!
This house was just about perfect for our needs. Four families with young children coming together to spend some quality time together was what we were after, and it's exactly what we got. The house is incredibly well stocked with everything you would need for a week/weekend at the lake. Thoughtful touches like games, towels/linens, soaps, and more really set it apart.
Great visit, you will not be bored
We had a great time at the Lake House! There is so much room and so many things to do, we had 13 people stay and no one complained about lack of room or lack of activities. Claire was absolutely accommodating on arrival and departure times and very responsive. The large, fully stocked kitchen let us have a giant family dinner every night and their spot down by the water was excellent (although I do think if the trail leading down to the water had been clearly marked that would have helped). All and all an absolute wonderful house, would definitely stay again!
Our home is located near Hickory, NC. We are about an hour away from the mountains of NC - both Asheville and Blowing Rock for great hikes, shopping, and other attractions. We are a little over an hour from the Charlotte Airport. A car is necessary as this is a rural setting.
There are mountain bike trails 10 minutes from the home. There is a marina to rent pontoon boats.
Hickory has several wonderful restaurants. They also have a nice science center and art museum.
