About Kevin R Sauvage
I built this home by myself, pouring the footings on my 50th birthday and spending every available moment for the next 2 years on it. Other then the maple floor and cedar siding, all the lumber for the interior/exterior trims, stairways, cabinetry and doors was purchased as rough boards then milled to shape by myself. Much of the wood was cut 80 yrs ago off a local farm and stored until I bought it. Though I work as a woodworker my passion is sailing, something I have been doing on Northport Bay for 53 yrs. I like adventure sailing best and have completed the grueling 300 mile Everglades Challenge and have spent 19 days alone at sea on the North Atlantic in a 20' sailboat attempting a trans Atlantic crossing from NYC to Northern Spain. Tropical storm Debbie in 2012 delayed my progress until I ran out of time and was forced to return to NYC. Though New York harbor's Lower Bay and Florida's west coast/ Florida Bay have their beauty, nothing compares to sailing my home waters of Northern Lake Michigan.
Kevin R Sauvage purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Kevin R Sauvage chose Northport
Scrilly Cottage is inspired by the Bumble Bee word for "friend" in Taylon Thomas's poem "Scrilly".

We very much enjoyed our stay at Scrilly! The attention to detail was immediately noticed, from the craftsmanship of the cottage to being stocked with everything needed for a complete stay. It was also a pleasure to meet Kevin, he was very sincere about making sure we enjoyed our stay. Scrilly is a beautiful place to stay to compliment the beauty of the area. We will definitely be back!

Comfortable, clean, unique!
Wonderful place to stay in the Northport area! The cabin met and exceeded our expectation for the price point. Kevin had coffee and firewood ready for us to use when we arrived. Lots to do near the cabin, including hiking and wine tastings. Quiet and cozy at nights. We'll be back!
This cottage was perfect. Very clean and comfortable and quiet. We would stay again.
A beautiful cottage
This cottage has set the bar really high for any future rentals. It was very clean and well maintained. It was well stocked with anything you could possibly need. We had never been to this area of Michigan before this trip. It was a great location for visiting Suttons Bay, Leland, and Northport. The cottage is near several beautiful beaches. The owner Kevin was very kind and helpful. We had a very brief power outage and he brought us over some lanterns and stocked the firewood for us. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to explore this area.
We took our bikes to ride up to the Lighthouse (4 miles?) but ended up driving to the state park and hiking on the state park trails (no bikes allowed on trails). Very quiet here! It was just the break we needed! Had fun in Leland Fish Town, dining in Suttons Bay and Northport. Wish there was a lake access nearby.
Great location. Nice amenities. Clean, quiet. Kevin is friendly and helpful. Will return.
Scrilly Cottage is just minutes from the best Leelanau Township has to offer. In the heart of Leelanau State Park country. Spectacular Cathead Bay beach, part of Leelanau State Park, is a 5 min drive and short walk through hardwood forests. The village of Northport with shopping, dining and municipal marina and golf course is 5 miles away.
