Dove Dale bungalow
Property good, kitchen well equipped. Location lovely with good views
Great Location and Ideal for our requirements but...
Very easy booking/communication and check-in with the use of a key box. Another group were staying in the main house with a number of cars, therefore we did find it difficult to park on the first night with the 2 cars our party brought but squeezed in in the end.
We had an enjoyable stay. I do believe that more attention could have been paid to the cleanliness of the property before we arrived, for example there were dead flies on the window sills and large spiders and cobwebs all around. We did have an issue with a broken lamp but Fiona was very quick to respond.
At the end of our stay we were more than happy to take out the bins and strip the beds, although I was very disappointed to see stains on the mattress protector below in the master bedroom which did put me off a bit.
Overall a very pleasant stay, exactly what we needed but with a couple of little tweaks internally I think the property would have left a better impression.
Check-out again very easy with the use of the key box provided.
I would recommend this property, it has WiFi but absolutely not mobile reception, luckily we have WiFi calling and no one needed to get in touch with us. Very quiet surroundings, but be aware there is no pub or shop in the village that we saw, but it is only a short car journey to Ashbourne though and an Aldi is situated there.
Thank you for your feedback.
I am sorry that you had a problem with flies and spiders. It is on the Cleaning Schedule for our Team to check windowsills, but the Property had been empty for a couple of nights. Being situated in the countryside, it is something that we have to be constantly aware of.
I have tried to mention on the HomeAway Site that there is no mobile signal in the area. Guests in the Bungalow can make and receive wifi calls, but unfortunately we are unable to provide a landline.
Ilam has very few facilities however we recommend the National Trust Tea Rooms, The Issac Walton Hotel and Bar or The Okeover Arms, if people are happy to walk or take a short drive.
Thank you for your other comments, I will make sure that they are followed up.
Peace and tranquility
A very well equipped, spacious bungalow in an amazing setting. The location is perfect either for visiting other places by car or for walking and enjoying the beautiful countryside.
This bungalow is a hidden gem ..we were celebrating my mums birthday and this was a perfect cottage for her & some extra beds and quiet ..we also rented the national trust bunkhouse at Ilam Hall ...the location is excellent and lots of walking to be done - you just leave the car and city life behind ..can’t wait to rent this again it’s fantastic !
The bungalow is lovely and spacious and has beautiful scenery. The staff are very friendly and helpful if you need any help with anything. I shall be definitely be coming back with my family.
Comfortable bungalow with beautiful view from longe
If you are looking for a peaceful, Peak District location with walks right on the doorstep, this is it. The Bungalow at Dove Dale House is large and comfortable with great views over Ilam Park and good size rooms. It's not, however, a luxury bungalow with manicured grounds and high end gadgets and if you are tethered to your mobile, this wouldn't suit. It offers comfort, peace, beauty and a great family vacation. There are quirks that should be fixed such as very hot water in one sink, a warning sign is there, however, There are other things too, that have been mentioned by other guests that could be fixed such as one of the loo seats, and door stops would prevent banging doors. That said, we spent 8 nights with multi generational family and had a wonderful time.
