Villa Ave Maria is a wonderful modern Portuguese villa. It is within an hours drive of Lisbon airport by motorway.
The villa has 5 good sized bedrooms and 4 large bathrooms giving 3 ensuite bedrooms and the remaining 2 having a “Jack and Jill” ensuite. There is sleeping for 10 provided by 3 double beds and 4 single beds. There is ample space for travel cots to be placed in the double bedrooms.
There is a spacious and well equipped kitchen/diner with dishwasher and a washing machine in a utility room. The kitchen has all modern appliances and conveniences and a separate dining table that seats 10 people.
Bright and airy French windows lead onto a veranda, overlooking the garden, that also provides a shady eating area for 10 people.
In the garden there is a built in barbeque and plenty of outside space for adults and children alike.
Also leading out onto the veranda is a spacious and airy sitting room with real fire and generous contemporary seating. It is equipped with TV, DVD, music system and pay as you go wifi internet. There is a collection of DVDs available for use.
Secure car parking is provided and there is ample addition parking in the service road to the rear of the villa and in parking bays on Rua Engenheiro to the front of the villa.
Whilst not specifically converted for disabled use, the villa lends itself to guests with limited mobility. All access is on the level (including from the integral garage with electric door), there is a ramp to the front door, one of the double bedrooms and the most spacious shower room are on the ground floor.
Decorated and equipped to a very high standard, the villa enjoys views of the countryside in a very peaceful location. It is situated in the sleepy village of Nadadouro. The village benefits from a bakery, mini supermarket, several cafes and bar/restaurants that are a 200 metre stroll away.
Foz do Arelho is just 3 kilometres away and has several sandy beaches that carry the prestigious Blue Flag accreditation. The sheltered Obidos lagoon offers many different activities such as swimming, sailing, kite surfing, wind surfing, fishing and walking or cycling along the growing number of nature trails. There is also an Atlantic facing beach which provides superb surfing spots and sea fishing.
The Obidos lagoon is the largest saltwater lagoon in Portugal with the lakes and waterways extending inland for 6 kilometers and is a haven for a multitude of wildlife. There are several bars, cafes and restaurants that line the waterfront and promenade at Foz beach whilst many other really fine restaurants lie in the main town just 1 km away. Keen golfers will find a number of recognised golf courses within a short drive of the villa.
Caldas da Rainha, a medieval, thermal spa town has its origins in the 15th century and can be reached within a 5 minute drive. Here you can shop in the daily fruit, flower and fish markets where you'll find the best the region has to offer in terms of fresh produce. It is the major town of the area and is provided with all supermarket branches, many shops, restaurants and bars. It also has a cultural centre, museums and reknowned park which has a boating lake.
Obidos, a 15 minute drive away is the most visited, historic site outside of Lisbon. This magnificent walled, medieval fortress city with narrow, winding cobbled streets, quaint white-washed cottages, often surrounded by colourful bougainvillae and geraniums, is the perfect living, working museum town. The whole complex is surrounded by steep 14th century granite walls, which provide outstanding views. It formed part of the wedding present from King Dinis to his wife Isabel of Aragon in 1282. The town boasts an almost unending series of events and festivals. It has a museum which tells the story of how this hilltop fortress was taken from the Moors by Portugal’s first king Afonso Henriques in 1148. Whilst walking amongst the quaint shops and restaurants you will be able to sample Ginja. This local speciality is made by infusing sour cherry in alcohol and is served in chocolate cups.
Currently Villa Ave Maria is available for weekly lets from Saturday to Saturday.
Heating is charged as follows:
Full electric underfloor heating can be arranged with the local agent at a cost of £25 per day.
Cleaning occurs once a week or on change over. Any additional cleaning can be arranged with the local agent but would be chargeable at cost.
Wifi is available free of charge.
