About Owners Website:
Anna and Ed are a couple of journalists based in London.
Owners Website: purchased this Cottage in 1966
Why Owners Website: chose Chipping Norton
The cottage was bought by Ed's academic parents and he's been coming here since he was a baby. It's a magical place and a perfect, peaceful escape from the city.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage is arranged over three floors (covering a little over 2000 square feet) with four bedrooms, a living and a dining area, a kitchen, a bathroom and a cellar. There are two outside gardens and a patio. A barbecue is available if needed plus additional chairs for outside seating. The privately owned field beyond frequently has grazing livestock, so off-limits I'm afraid, but there are all kinds of great walks, pubs, restaurants and stately homes to be explored in the vicinity.

Beautiful surroundings, good sized bedrooms, amazing gardens and surrounding fields, friendly neighbors, decent WiFi, perhaps a little lacking in communal comforts in the living room but overall a really great family home with plenty of charm and very accommodating hosts.
So glad you enjoyed it. Do come again soon

Perfect holiday cottage in beautiful surroundings
We understand that Ridge Cottage has been a loved retreat for decades by the owner and their family and those staying there can easily tune in to that vibe. It was great for an extended family get together. The furniture and decor is characterful and personal but still comfortable and cosy. It is a lovely mix of design and what emerges naturally after many years of organically refining a home to be practical, beautiful and simple. Well equipped kitchen, roaring fire, interesting book selections on the selves, lovely beds with amazing views. Blackberries and sloes in the autumn and amazing walks soon as you step out of the door. Easy access into charlbury to make it a sustainable trip for those that are so minded. Very responsive owners. Highly recommended
Great to have you with us. So glad you enjoyed it. Do come again soon!
Characterful cottage in a lovely location
Lovely cottage, beautiful views, very cozy.
Peaceful, idyllic holiday home.
I stayed at Ridge House with my family for 3 nights. The weather was incredible and we enjoyed BBQs in the beautiful garden every night. (We actually brought our own & didn't locate the one belonging to the house). The views from the back of the cottage are stunning. The house (including the kitchen, which really matters to us!) was well equipped and comfortable - the beds were especially good, the linen was immaculate. The instructions to get there were accurate, and although we thought parking was going to be tricky, you really can get 3 cars tucked in on the verge & we managed to fit two on the drive infront of the house! The only thing that lets the house down is the single bathroom - for 8 guests, that is a bit of an inconvenience - a downstairs toilet with a handbasin would really help. The stairs are very steep, but not impossible, just perhaps not suitable for the elderly. My final point would be that the garden isn't enclosed, it just has a very low brick wall running around it, on the other side of this is a big drop into a haha. We did have to keep our dogs on the lead to ensure that they stayed with us as the field was full of sheep! The location was very convenient for Charlbury, Chipping Norton etc & we'd love to stay again sometime. We didn't feel overlooked or monitored in any way & we were able to really relax - it did feel like a home from home.
So glad you enjoyed it. Do come again!
