Up there with the best - seriously!
What a super property and location - peace and quiet and bundles of character.
We had a great break, we'd ventured a bit further north this year, to Cesseras, as we usually find ourselves in the Aude/Ariege at Easter time - so we enjoyed exploring some old & new places - up to Minerve and as far a field as Sete & south down to Termes & Lagrasse as well as the obligatory 'tourist lunch' in Carcassonne - I enjoy the driving and with a brand new hire car, Hertz were a little surprised at the mileage when we took it back. Parking in Cesseras was really easy and safe, though not everyone will enjoy reversing an 8 seater back out of the lane, after dropping shopping and bags - so walk in first is our advice! the roads for exploring around Minerve are good, so all our days out with Cesseras as base worked really well.
Though staying local for walks along the Canal du Midi and a wander around the village and up into the vineyards is a must, shame the village bar was closed when we stayed - though maybe just as well.................
The courtyards on either side were brilliant for many Easter Egg hunts instigated by our youngest and the weather was good for eating outside as well as coffees & drinks sitting out in the evening [with a jumper].
The courtyard house was much better than the description and photographs on this site can show, really comfortable, superbly clean and brilliantly presented.
We enjoy cooking with local produce and the kitchen and facilities had everything we needed - how many coffee cups? There's a first, where there was more than the usual 6!
Comfortable? I need to know what the mattress in the master bedroom is, that's on our list for new items at home - super comfy and with such a quiet location I was sleeping those extra holiday hours away no problem.
We'll have to come back in the summer months when it's pool weather - though the log burner on the evening [with top-up logs from the petrol station/supermarket in Homps] is lovely for cosy evenings.
I have treated myself on return to a case of the wine from Chateau Cesseras, tracking down their 2013 La Liviniere which is delicious.................I doubt it will last long - brings back happy memories as we jolt back into the real world at home.
Your house is in the top 3 we've stayed in locally, well done and thank you again for the quality and character of such a well specified and maintained property - a real treat to have our holiday there.
Hi We are pleased that you had everything you needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. We do hope to see you back at Maison de la Cour in the future and thank you for the review. Brian and Julia
HI We are please that you enjoyed your stay at Maison de la Cour and that you found everything in order we do try to keep the house up to a good standard. This summer has been partially hot but normally the fans and shutters along with the thick stone walls would keep the house reasonably cool. We hope you enjoyed your trip to Minerve which is so interesting in fact there are so many interesting places locally we hope that we will see you back when you are next in the area. Once again thank you for staying at Maison de la Cour. Happy Holidays.
Cesseras is a quiet unspoilt village with approximately 400 inhabitants and the house is in a cul-de-sac(impasse) that forms part of the Chateau walls. The village itself is set around the Chateau and the square where you will find the locals gather. The small bar is ideal for an aperitif, a snack or to catch up on the events of the day. Cesseras is one of five villages that form part of the AOC La Liviniere wine appellation which produces particularly fine red wines. So don’t forget to try some. The village has a local corner store for basic needs and a morning walk to get fresh croissants is a must at least once during your stay. Larger shops and supermarkets can be found 5 mins away in Olonzac. Ideally situated, the three Bedroom House, comfortably sleeping six with private pool outside seating and dining space for summer al fresco eating. Modern fully equipped kitchen and spacious dining room. Wifi throughout.
