About Deborah McGee
My partner Clive and I live in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. I am a sales director in the hospitality industry and Clive is an owner and Managing director of a data conversion company. We have 3 grown up children, Sarah, Louis, and Frazer. We love dogs and have 3 rescue dogs and a very pampered bitch Staffy. I have lived and worked in France for many years and know Paris and the South of France very well. I also speak fluent French, Spanish and German. We both like travelling through France, enjoying the food, and life style, and eventually we plan to live there.
Deborah McGee purchased this House in 2016
Why Deborah McGee chose Moussan
Clive and I decided to buy our house in Moussan after a very long search around the Aude for the right house. Eventually we found our house and were particularly excited about the contemporary design mixing well with the old house. We also fell in love with the old village, and particularly its location so near Narbonne yet in the heart of the Aude countryside. With the famous village of le Somial on the banks of the Canal du Midi, and the canal du Robin on 5 km away we felt we had a great house plus great location.
What makes this House unique
As can be seen from the photo's the house is perfect for a holiday home, and a base to explore the surrounding country side. The plunge pool is ideal to cool off in the evening, or after a day sunbathing on our roof terrace. Our patio has a garden kitchen with a BBQ and so there is no need to even go into the house in a hot summers evening. For those who prefer a Spring or Autumn holiday our house can be made cosy with our central heating and large modern log burner, to take the chill out of the air. The original exposed stone walls and beams give our house a friendly feel what ever the time of year you visit.

A character-filled stone property near Narbonne
My wife and I were searching for a French property to buy and booked this Moussan vIllage home for its good location near many of the properties we had lined up to view.
The quirky old layout of this home built into the stone heart of the village is enhanced by a very modern renovation that provides most of the mod cons anyone would require (short of a dishwaher I suppose). There is a really beautiful outdoor terrace with a plung pool/large hot tub (closed in Dec obviously) and this ambiance is truly 5 star French!
In the bedrooms, there are comfortable beds, and auto lighting is helpful to get to the very nice bathroom in the night.
Pros are numerous:
-beautiful outdoor space
-very clean and modern space
-most mod cons including good internet
-super low to the floor sofa in lounge is quite uncomfortable
-frustratingly obtuse entertainment situation (and I’m a high tech geek!) featuring a receiver and speakers around the house with nothing to play aside from a second DVD player (?)
Overall we enjoyed this peaceful village house and found it well situated to explore this part of Languedoc!
Wonderful apt in small town
This was our first visit to southern France and while the apartment was excellent, the town and surrounding area, especially in November, was lackluster. Good place to hunker down and read a book. Nice roof terrace and lots of cats around. There was construction noise most mornings from 8-9, which I expect would not be the case in high season.
Can't recommend this lovely house enough!
We stayed here to visit friends in Moussan. The house has been beautifully restored, giving spacious accommodation which is comfortable and wonderfully practical.
Lovely house in quiet and non tourist area
My wife and I had a lovely week in the house in Moussan. The house is well equipped and Deborah was very helpful. There are lots of things to see and do in this area; Carcassonne, Lagrasse, Abbaye de Fontfroide, Narbonne, Beziers, and many local beaches, are all worthwhile visiting and within a short drive of the house. The village is lovely and had all we required, local bakery, shop, post office a bar and a restaurant. All within a couple of minutes walk of the house. We had a great week and would recommend the house for a couple wanting to get away from it all.
