AMAZING! Something for everyone, every season

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location….within 2-30 miles of the cabin, there are Tahoe’s best hiking trails, fishing, ski resorts, beaches, stores, restaurants, and casinos. You wouldn’t know you are in a residential area after parking your car. It’s very quiet!

As noted by other reviewers the house was spotless, reflecting the pride of the owners. It was equipped with all the noted items and amenities.. The pictures did not do fully reflect the beauty of the setting and home.

The UNIQUE and best part of this cabin was the short walk through a well maintained pathway to the private, peacefully quiet, river front. A great place to have a picnic, go swimming, read a book, or spend the night. It was very serene: the only sounds came from nature— the river, birds singing, etc. You’d have to look hard to see other homes. The area had a good view of the night sky, which was brilliant with no city light interference. All this was within a 2-3 minute walk from the cabin itself.

The added bonus to all this are the owners, who are available if you need anything, yet provide full privacy for your stay. They are the kindest, thoughtful folks who have lived in the area for decades. They have a wealth of knowledge and can help you plan/direct any outing that you want. They quietly attend to little things (ie. when they heard my son was interested in sleeping in the enclosed cabin by the river—they immediately went out, took off the winterized window frame and re-screened the windows so that he would have a cross breeze). This is an underused gem of the site. Another example, was that our stay occured during height of pine pollen season. Our cars were covered in yellow pollen. On the day we were leaving, David, the owner hosed down our cars to provide a safe journey home. I can’t promise that he’d clean every car, but I am positive that they would provide great, old fashioned customer service and random acts of kindness to make your stay comfortable and memorable!

After 30 years of going to Tahoe, we have found a home away from home. We’re already planning our next trip. A week is just not enough time in this home!

Awesome and Tranquil place....

  • 5 of 5

The house pics do NOT do this place justice.. It was awesome and comfy. It is on the South side of the Lake Tahoe area, tucked away in a quiet area But close enough to a main street to get around quickly. Only wish we had spend more time at the house to enjoy it more. Everything was super clean. The owner does live next door BUT is only there if you need him. Great family layout of the bedrooms and games for the kiddies in the closet.Even croquet out under the porch. 5 star from me.

Another great stay at the Tahoe river house!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at Dave's house. Great place and very close to Sierra, which made things much easier for us. We also had a few issues with the fireplace and hot tub, which Dave immediately came over to fix. It's great to have him next door to help out if anything is needed!

Owner's Response: Our home is centrally located between Sierra-at-Tahoe, Heavenly and Krikwood on two private acres at the foot of echo summit. Being licensed general contractors living next door allows us to be available for any repairs that may arise. Our guests comfort is important to us.

Disappointing experience with property

  • 1 of 5

We had a very disappointing experience at this property. The kitchen sink leaked and the owner blamed us! The hideaway bed was uncomfortable and was in all likelihood already broken and he blamed us for that too! Probably have to resort to legal representation to get our security deposit back.

Owner's Response: These people trashed our home. The hide-a-bed frame and support system was damaged beyond repair. The springs were stretched out, 5 out of 8 brackets attached to the head portion of the mattress web support system were pulled out along with the metal rod sewn into the heavy duty material. These items were ripped out of the mattress support system. Four of the five cross bars were bent. This bed was a top of the line Klaussner commercial grade high end genuine leather sofa sleeper with the heaviest bed frame unit made. This bed will support two 350# people per manufacture's specifications. The only way this frame unit could be damaged to this extent was that is was used as a trampoline by the guests. There were teenagers and adults in this group. As for the kitchen sink, I was notified of a possible leak under the kitchen sink 15 minutes before departure when I had to go into our neighbor's yard to have them not trespass on their property after several warnings. There was no evidence of any moisture under the sink and all pipes, drains, perimeter of the sink and faucet were dry including the base of the cabinet and all the contents in the cabinet. The floor in front of the sink was saturated and mold was starting to form which indicates that it was wet for some time. It looked like a water fight with the sink sprayer was used and not cleaned up. I am a licensed General Contractor for over 30 years and have worked on many vacation homes in South Lake Tahoe. I was available for any repair problems during their stay and was not notified. The damages this group caused far exceeded their deposit. Our home is thoroughly inspected prior to and after all guest. We have provided this guest with a detailed list of damages with dated photos of each item. Our guests are asked upon arrival to contact us with any maintenance problems which arise and none was reported. We take great care to provide a clean and well maintain home for our guests. Other damages to our home by this guest were a broken bar stool, trashed carpets which required shampooing, dirty dishes, pots and pans in the cabinets which required all items in the cabinets to be cleaned, all the cabinets had to be cleaned inside and out from food spills, no cleaning up after their two dogs which required cleaning up all over the yard (front, side and back). Absolutely no effort was made by this guest to protect our home and contents.

Awesome place and great value!

  • 5 of 5

Dave's place is very well maintained and super close to Sierra at Tahoe. Our group of 11 were very pleasantly surprised when we got there and had a great weekend there. Dave (the owner) is right next door and very communicative. He was also great at making sure that the driveways were plowed and checked in to make sure we didn't need anything.

Definitely look forward to staying here again!
