We had a lovely time!

  • 5 of 5

We had a "reunion" of college friends and their families stay at the lodge for 4 days/nights, and had a wonderful time. Tom, the owner, and Lacie, the caretaker, were both amazingly responsive and friendly when I asked questions before the trip. The lodge was very clean when we arrived, and the kitchen was really well stocked - we served huge family meals there and never lacked for the right bowl/pan/pot/tool that was needed for any meal. The beds are all singles, but the mattresses and linens were fresh and comfortable. The bathrooms are located so that no one has to trek far from their rooms, and the "dormitory" upstairs was an amazing time for all of our younger generation girls. It was like a days-long slumber party!

The main social area was large enough for groups to watch the Olympics on the TV, converse at the other end, and most of us to play games around the sofas in front of the fire. The fireplace, by the way, is awesome! We grilled kabobs and toasted s'mores on the outdoor grill, played croquet on the huge lawn (we brought the croquet set), and just wandered out to look at the beautiful views from the backyard.

You do have to walk several blocks to get to the main beach, and a shorter distance to the estuary (which then curves around to the main beach), but it's a reasonable walk and through a lovely neighborhood. The neighbors we encountered were friendly and fun to talk to, and we saw a herd of Elk on several occasions. Elk watching was very popular amongst our group. The beach is so much nicer than Seaside - and we had the estuary almost completely to ourselves when we walked that way.

Overall, we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Big thanks to Lacie and Tom - we did our best to leave the place cleaned up and in good shape for your next guests =).

Fantastic lodge, A MUST SEE

  • 5 of 5

A group of 16 stayed for 2 nights following a friends wedding and we could not have asked for a better location for our extended wedding weekend celebration. The river views are so scenic, the lodge itself is quirky, quaint, and cosy, and the nearby beaches are beautiful as well. The short walk to the beach is well worth it and we surfed at nearby Ecola park which was an easy drive and good surf spot. The lodge itself is well stocked with necessary items to do a large group family style dinner and the ample sleeping arrangement worked well. We highly recommend this spot, you won't be disappointed.

A Perfect Place for our First Family Reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We had a huge family reunion with 12 children, 13-6 weeks, 4 single adults, 3 couples and there was SO MUCH SPACE!!!! Dorm style rooms for kids, private space for couples, suite for the patriarchs and a great big meadow for games, beach views and easy access to the beach, Seaside and points beyond. The facilities - beds, bathrooms, kitchen were better than advertised. The large living room and dining room facilitated the large group activities and there were plenty of nooks for private conversations and tet-a-tets. Attendees were from all over America and found Gearhart and the Lodge a great introduction to Grandpa's Oregon.

This was a great weekend in a large part because the Lodge worked so well and was so delightful.

Customer service and assistance from the moment of selection over a year out was outstanding. Mr. Strange was responsive and helpful. The facility was ready and shiningly clean and fresh upon our arrival.

I recommend this facility to anyone with a larger than one family group for the beach anytime. I bet it is even great in the winter!!!

Excellent space for our spiritual retreat

  • 5 of 5

26 women gathered here for a weekend reatreat. The space could not have been more perfect--the large living room to gather in, the fireplace that was warm and inviting, cozy nooks and crannies for meditation/stillness/reading/napping and the gigantic dining table where we ate together, did artwork, chatted. We will be back next year!

The lodge was perfect for our group. great time

The lodge was great fun for our group of 15. Good location for our watercolor workshop at Trails End Gallery. A bit rustic, but not too much so for our group. Perfect place for family gatherings and a beautiful spot for outdoor events.
