Adorable rustin cabin with a great view.
We had 3 generations staying for an extended weekend to attend my neice's wedding and our party of 13 had a wonderful time staying in Papa Bear Lodge! The cabin is really rustic & cute. It was apptly named as it is decorated with lots of bears. It is exactly what we had hoped for including a beautiful view of the colorful mountains. (All I kept saying all weekend was, "It's SOOOOO pretty here!" Do the locals ever get used to seeing that beauty?) Because we were there during peak leaf changing season the traffic in Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge was crazy busy so you must leave early if you plan to arrive on time for any activities. For some of us, our favorite activity was the zipline tour we did out near Hartford, TN, about an hour's drive from Gatlinburg. ( I noticed after we'd already booked our tour on-line that there are other ziplines closer but we enjoyed the sights as we drove there, so no biggy.) The times we had questions for the owners, they were very helpful. We had plenty of room and parking, the kids enjoyed the game room downstairs, and we all agree that we would not hesitate to stay at Papa Bear Lodge again.
Fantastic getaway at a great value!
Our family of 4 generations recently stayed at Papa bear Lodge, and loved every minute of it! The cabin is secluded, but yet still in a convenient location. Just minutes from Gatlinburg and/or Pigeon Forge! If you're looking for a great place to stay in the area, do not hesitate to stay here!
A DREAM COME TRUE GETAWAY!!
Our family's experience at Papa Bear's cabin was fantastic!! The cabin's location was perfect!!!
Located on a mountain top over looking theGreat Smoky National Park, City of Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg it is only 2 miles to the City of Pigeon Forge and 4 miles to intercity of Gatlinburg saving us time with kids and entertainment!! LIFE SAVER !!
My husband & I especially loved the complete wall of windows in the cabin over looking the national park!! We enjoyed sharing precious memories of genealogy sitting in this specious cabin's family room while burning fire in there huge wood burning creek stone fire place. Seeing The snow capped Smoky Mountains from the kitchen windows in the morning was a blessing as well!!
So relaxing !!
The basement was a getaway for our teenage kids as well. They enjoyed the full sized pool table and large game room.
Each of us also enjoyed the nice sized hot tub !!
This cabin spoiled us!!! We will be coming back for years!!! Including upcoming summer vacation in May.
I suggest if your looking at beautiful cabin, book it ASAP.
DATES go QUICK!!!!
PAPA BEAR you got us hooked!!
We really enjoyed our stay at Papa Bear. We had 9 adults and it fit our needs perfectly. Each family was able to sleep on their own floor of the house. The 2 decks are just perfect and hot tub is wonderful at night. We brought all of our food with us and the kitchen was furnished nicely. We were missing a few little things, can opener and kitchen towel) we ended up finding a kitchen towel draped outside on the deck later in our stay. We didn't have much dish soap but made due. The location couldn't have been better. We were no more than 20 mins to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. And the view was just stunning. We hiked Alum Cave and it took about 39 minutes to get there. So nice to come home and sit in the hot tub. It was so quiet and peaceful. We can not wait to go back.
Smokey Mountain getaway
We recently stayed at the Papa Bear cabin and were very pleased with the accommodations. The views of the mountains from not only the deck but the inside of the cabin are truly remarkable. We had three generations staying at the cabin and each one had fun and could spread out and relax with all the room in this cabin. The owners Becky and John were very nice and easy to work with. We have stayed at other places in Gatlinburg before but due to the size of our group this year we had to get a larger cabin and with all you get for the price of the rental I don't see how you could get a better deal. I have recommended this cabin to my friends and we will definitely be coming back.
The main level and the upstairs rooms where really nice and kept very clean. Everything was good until we tried to turn on tvs and checked out the basement. There are not 6 tvs in the cabin, there are only 5, bc one of the rooms upstairs is missing a tv. The tv in the master bedroom did not have satellite connection, and a sign was placed inside the armoire saying the television was temporarily unavailable.
Downstairs in the basement, the carpet was old and had an odor to it. Both of the couches were torn behind the stationary pillows, with one of the couches having electrical tape to keep in place and the other one having the stuffing coming out. The pool table was old and missing pool balls. The 4th bedroom's tv, in the basement, did not have any satellite connection. There was an outlet that did not have an outlet cover, which is very dangerous since there was a 2 yr old with us.
If you can deal with these issues, this will be a great place to stay. The owners are really nice and very prompt with their response. The cabin is in a great location, close to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Needless to say, we will not be back.
