Looking for a unique Hawaiian vacation experience? Look no further! Our lovely Villa overlooking Hanalei Bay has all the casual comfort and privacy of a stand alone home. Set adjacent to a tropical forest our Villa features expansive views of the lush local mountains and beautiful Hanalei Bay. The design of the Villa is light and open with cathedral ceilings throughout the upper level. Both floors have covered lanais that give the visitor the serene sense of being high up in a treehouse. Our tropical songbirds often will join you should you choose to dine alfresco out on the upper lanai. The three bedrooms on the lower level comfortably sleep five adults. Upstairs there is a modern, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The living room has cable TV, DVD, stereo, and wireless internet service. All rooms have ceiling fans for your comfort. A reserved parking space is also provided.
The Villa is walking distance to three beaches and the fine dining of the luxurious St. Regis Resort. From the upper lanai you can view the scenic fifth green of the 27 hole Makai Golf course. The world famous Prince Golf Club is a short drive away. We have tennis nearby as well. At the entrance to the Princeville community, one and a half miles from the Villa, there is a full service shopping center with a large grocery store, specialty shops, many restaurants, banks, gas station, and Post Office. In fact the Villa is centrally located on Kauai's North Shore to view all the attractions, such as: Napali Coast, Kalalau trail, the town of Hanalei, world famous Tunnels beach, the Kilauea Lighthouse and bird sanctuary, and so on.
Kauai is the stuff of which dreams are made, the very definition of tropical paradise- lush and green, slow and easy. If you are looking for a private, tropical retreat in a lush Hawaiian setting our Villa will not disappoint.
Cal's villa was great in so many ways! He was easy to work with, and provided helpful tips. The villa had plenty of room for our party of 4, and the stocked kitchen and washer/dryer were invaluable. The living room furniture was comfortable, and it was nice to have a table, chairs, and grill on the lanai. Besides some mildew smell in the master bath, the home was pleasantly odorless...a major plus for me.
The best thing about this place is the location. The back lanai looks out onto a beautiful view of the mountains and greenery. We loved watching the birds, too. Princeville is a great place to stay...we stayed in the area our entire trip and found plenty to do/see. Loved the Hideaway pizza restaurant, Hideaway beach, and Tunnels Beach especially.
The reason I couldn't give this place 5 stars is this: the beds and pillows were hard and uncomfortable...none of us got much sleep. To be fair, the bedspreads, looked clean, and the sheets were high quality, though stained a bit. There is no a/c (I know it is rare to find in Kauai) and a week just wasn't long enough to acclimate to the heat. It was probably 80 degrees inside much of the time even with the windows open. (The wonderful trade winds just weren't cutting it). With all the windows open all night, there was no rest from the darling roosters who love to crow at all hours. On the plus, side, it was incredibly quiet in regards to people noise. We hardly ever heard neighbors.
I was so sad about how dirty the place was. Some things were cleaned beautifully, like the sliding glass doors onto the lanai, and the table and countertops. The walls, baseboards, cupboards, window screens, and floors desperately needed to be cleaned, though, and there was not a single unstained towel or washcloth in the bathrooms. I was so embarrassed because we had my mother and father-in-law on this trip with us. Cal, I would recommend that the current towels be available for guests to use for wiping wet feet or beach equipment, and provide new towels for bathing. It appears people have been using your nice white towels for mopping up the floor or something.
I don't regret booking this villa. It really was the best view we have ever had that wasn't on the ocean. With a little tlc, this place could be 5 stars easily. Thank you, Cal, for letting us stay. I hope I haven't been too blunt. I know you aren't nearby to see the conditions, so I really do just want to make sure you are aware
From the moment Cal called me I knew we'd be renting his villa. Super easy to work with, pricing is all very straight forward, directions on to the condo and how to get in very thought out, now for the good stuff:
As you may or may not know, getting to Princeville from Lihue is very easy, that is if it isn't rush hour in Kapa'a, then you just have to remind yourself you're on an island. Anyhow, as soon as we pulled into the parking lot we knew we made the right decision. It literally is the last property before the St. Regis. Thankfully it wasn't too warm when we arrived and the housekeepers opened up all the windows for us. As soon as you open the front door, yep, there's your view of Hanalei Bay, immediate relaxation overcame us.
The kitchen is fully appointed, plenty of plates, silverware, glasses etc. Flat panel TV in the living room, just know this is the only TV in the villa. Go downstairs to 2 rooms, decent size and very clean, master is bigger, huge closet and again very clean. Tons of clean linens, beach towels, 2 body boards, chairs etc. As for not having any TV's downstairs, that's completely alright, you're not there to watch TV. The view from the lanai was awesome. As mentioned, Hanalei Bay, then while we were there we had a few rainy days, from our view we could see all the waterfalls streaming down the mountain, that was something we'd never seen when we stayed elsewhere. As for the overall condition of the villa, it's very nice. The furniture is a bit outdated but it really doesn't matter, but if you do get rained in, no worries, everything is comfortable.
A few tips for when you stay here, the couch is a pull out couch, if the wifi goes down, gently push the patch cord a few millimeters back into the router, bring soap for the shower and an extra roll of paper towels, everything else is provided besides your food and libation. There is a walkway down to the St. Regis pool, you can take that or go through the hotel. If you go to Hideaway Pizza or the pool bar at the Regis and you see a really nice excitable bartender with her hair pulled up, say hi, she's really nice and knows how to pour a drink. One tip that Cal will tell you too, take your luggage in from the bottom floor, much easier. If this place is open, don't hesitate to book it, you won't be disappointed.
This condo is well-located next to the luxurious St. Regis Princeville and just across the street (and up a very steep climb) from Hideaways Beach, a most glorious beach that we mostly had to ourselves. The view from the main lanai off the living area was lovely: Hanalei Bay and the Napali Coast in the distance. Bedrooms were comfortable. Ceiling fans provided ample cooling so that lack of air conditioning was never an issue. The kitchen was adequately outfitted and easy to use (we even prepared Thanksgiving dinner there). And the owners were delightfully easy to work with. The only (minor) criticism is that the air conditioning units from the St. Regis are close to this condo, creating some white noise that was annoying to some among us (although the rest of us noticed it only when it was pointed out by the persnickety members of the family). We had a completely fabulous vacation!
There is nothing better than waking up in the morning and having a cup of Mountain Thunder (100% Kona coffee from Costco) and looking at the fabulous view of the mountains and Hanalei Bay from the lanai of this Villa. We are missing that already. We stayed at the Villa from Feb. 17/14 until Apr. 3/14 and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. There are many windows and great trade winds to keep you comfortable. This Condo is close to Hanalei Bay, our favorite, and the view is unbeatable. Of course, there are also many other great ones, as Kauai has the best beaches among all of the Islands. If you find it is raining on the North Shore, chances are good that you will always find sun at Poipu or on the west side. The owner of the Villa was great to work with and very cooperative. We had a great time.
Lovely house for our vacation rental in Kauai. 3rd bedroom was especially nice for our family of 5. Exceeded our expectations. The layout was an open and airy main floor that almost felt like a treehouse. Windows on all sides kept the breezes coming in, so it was never hot. Lovely Lanai with distant view of Hanalei Bay and lots of trees. Mostly well equipped, Internet access easy to use, Full listing of cable stations. Very clean with lovely extras available, like a few beach chairs (we left a few more in the closet) some games, guide books, etc. Owner was easy to work with and friendly. What a great time. We will happily go back. If stairs are an issue, this would not be the place for you, but other than that, great spot for North Shore exploring.
A little walk to the beach, but possible, but with so many great beaches to explore, who wants to be stuck at one anyway.
My family, including two small boys, an infant, and a grandmother, stayed at the villa for six weeks in June and July. The villa is not huge, but it fit our party of 6 perfectly. The view from the top lanai is spectacular: athe characteristically-vertical mountains with waterfalls are right in front of you and there's even a little peek of Hanalei Bay. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the rooms very comfortable. The villa sits on top of a cliff and has constant breeze, which keeps the mosquitoes away and the temperature perfect even on the muggiest days (which are not all that muggy by East Coast standards).
There are 37 Hanalei Bay Villas, strung along Ka Haku Road that ends at the St. Regis Hotel sitting atop the cliff overlooking Hanalei Bay. This villa is in the cluster closest to the hotel, giving one easy access to the hotel beach that has little surf, clean water, plenty of shade, and - not unimportantly - is cleaned daily, so the sand is absolutely pristine. Across the street from the villa is the path to another wonderful beach with crystal clear water, a reef, and plenty of shade, the Puu Poa Beach. There are of course other nice beaches on the island of Kauai, but public parking is scarce, so being able to walk to the beach is a real plus.
The villa was everything we were hoping for and if Cal will have us, we will certainly return.
